Reflection on TitanicTitanic is a classic movie that has captivated audiences around the world since its release in 1997. Directed by James Cameron, this epic romance and disaster film tells the story of the ill-fated RMS Titanic, which sank on its maiden voyage in 1912 after hitting an iceberg. The film follows the lives of two fictional characters, Jack Dawson and Rose DeWitt Bukater, played by Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet, as they fall in love amidst the luxury and tragedy of the Titanic. As I watched Titanic, I was struck by the tragic beauty of the ship itself. The opulence and grandeur of the Titanic were brought to life on screen, from the lavish first-class cabins to the bustling engine room. The attention to detail in recreating the ship was impressive, and it made the sinking of the Titanic all the more heart-wrenching to watch. One of the most compelling aspects of Titanic is the relationship between Jack and Rose. Their love story transcends social class and defies the strict societal conventions of the time. Jack, a penniless artist, and Rose, a high-society debutante, form a deep connection that is both romantic and heartbreaking.Their forbidden love is the emotional core of the film, and it is what ultimately drives the narrative forward. The sinking of the Titanic is a harrowing sequence that is executed with intense realism. The chaos and panic that ensue as the ship goes down are depicted in a visceral and gut-wrenching manner. The bravery and sacrifice of the passengers and crew are portrayed with sensitivity and respect, making the tragedy of the Titanic feel all the more immediate and real.Beyond its stunning visuals and powerful storytelling, Titanic is a poignant reminder of the fragility of life and the importance of love and human connection. The film serves as a tribute to the lives lost on that fateful night in 1912, and it honors their memory in a way that is both respectful and moving. In conclusion, Titanic is a cinematic masterpiece that has left an indelible mark on popular culture. Its enduring legacy is a testament to the talent and vision of James Cameron, as well as the incredible performances of the cast. Titanic is a film that will continue to be admired and appreciated by audiences for generations to come.。

As I delved into the pages of "Titanic Survivor," a story from the renowned "Oxford Reading Tree: Stories from Around the World" series, I was transported to a fateful night in April 1912. This book, targeted at intermediate readers, tells the tale of a young girl's survival on the ill-fated ship and her subsequent struggle to overcome the trauma and loss. The story opens with the excitement and anticipation of the Titanic's maiden voyage. The girl, an unnamed survivor, recalls the glamour and luxury of the ship, the bustling crowds, and the sense of invincibility that pervaded the atmosphere. However, the narrative quickly shifts to the horror and panic as the ship collides with an iceberg and the reality of the situation sinks in.The author masterfully captures the chaos and desperation as the ship begins to sink. Readers are taken through the girl's terrifying journey as she struggles to find her family amidst the confusion and fear. The heart-wrenching scenes of separation and loss are handled withsensitivity and empathy, making the story not just a historical retelling but a deeply personal account. What struck me the most was the girl's resilience and strength in the face of adversity. Despite the trauma and heartache, she manages to find hope and healing through the kindness and support of others. Her story is not just about survival, but also about the power of human connection and the resilience of the human spirit. The language used in the book is both engaging and accessible, making it an ideal read for intermediate learners. The vocabulary and sentence structure are challenging enough to promote language development, but not overly complex to hinder comprehension. The illustrations, which complement the text, add an extra layer of visual interest and help to bring the story to life."Titanic Survivor" is not just a retelling of a well-known historical event; it's a powerful testament to the resilience of the human spirit. It teaches us about the importance of family, the value of kindness, and the strength we can draw from within ourselves in times of crisis. As I closed the book, I found myself not just movedby the story, but also inspired by the courage and resilience of the girl and the lessons she taught me about life and humanity.**泰坦尼克号幸存者:穿越时空的旅程**当我深入阅读《泰坦尼克号幸存者》这本书时,我仿佛被带回到了1912年那个命运多舛的夜晚。
TitanicThe legendary Titanic is one of the most popular vessels of all time. Nearly 100 years after its sinking on April 14, 1912, it continues to captivate audiences and scientists from all around the world. With over 100 expeditions having gone to the Titanic, another is currently on the horizon. In 2011, there will be a Titanic dive expedition that will be open to the public and offer a once in a lifetime experience. Although the price is $40,000 per head, guests will be sent to the Titanic wreck in the MIR submersibles and will be able to witness the wreckage first hand. Offering a once in a lifetime look at the Titanic shipwreck, the expedition will allow select individuals to join an elite few who have seen the Titanic shipwreck in person; a group so exclusive that more people have been to space than have seen the Titanic wreck.Titanic HistoryThe Titanic was the largest passenger ship of her time. Equipped with the finest luxuries of the time and deemed ‘virtually unsinkable’, the massive vessel was truly a spectacle. When the Titanic sunk after a glancing blow from an iceberg in the Atlantic Ocean, 1,512 of the 2,223 passengers on board were killed, making it one of the largest peacetime maritime disasters in history. Although compliment with the lifeboat laws at time, the number of emergency vessels on board accounts for a large number of the fatalities as a result of the Titanic sinking. The aftermath of the sinking of the Titanic has led to changes in maritime law as well as controversy about whether the accident could have been avoided, and even a conspiracy surrounding the incident.Titanic ConstructionPort side of the TitanicThe Titanic was a White Star ocean liner and had two sister ships named the Olympic and the Britannic (originally called the Gigantic). This line of cruisers was designed to be the sturdiest and most luxurious ships of their time. Construction of the Titanic was founded by American industrialist J.P. Morgan and his international Mercantile Marine Co. and began in March 1909. The hull was launched a year later on March 31, 1911, and the outfitting was completed on March 31 of the following year. She was equipped with two reciprocatingfour-cylinder, triple-expansion steam engines and one low-pressure Parsons turbine, which powered three propellers. There were 29 boilers fired by 159 coal burning furnaces that made possible a top speed of 23 knots (43 km/h; 26 mph). Only three of the four 62 feet (19 m) funnels were functional: the fourth, whichserved only for ventilation purposes, was added to make the ship look more impressive. The ship could carry a total of 3,547 passengers and crew.Offering passengers all of the aquatic luxuries of the time, the Titanic featured n on-board swimming pool, a gymnasium, a squash court, a Turkish bath, a Veranda Cafe and libraries in both the first and second class. Each room was decorated with beautiful and durable teak furniture adding to strong appearance of the virtually unsinkable Titanic. In addition, The Cafe Parisien offered first class guests an even more luxurious dining experience unlike anything ever seen on a cruise ship. She was also equipped with two Marconi radios, an electrical subsystem which provided lighting to the entire ship, and steam-powered generators. The most expensive one-way trans-Atlantic passage was $4,350 (which is more than $95,860 in 2008 dollars.Titanic LifeboatsLifeboats on the Titanic were actually up to regulatory laws of the time, and even exceeded the number of required lifeboats. The Titanic lifeboat laws weren’t based on the capacity of the liner, but rather the projected tonnage of the vessel. The Board of Trade only required 16 lifeboats on the Titanic to comply with the laws. 1,178 individuals could use lifeboats, which was much smaller than the maximum capacity of the Titanic which was 3,600. Although the number of individuals that Titanic lifeboats could accommodate was much smaller than the maximum capacity, the Titanic actually went over what was required.Titanic Maiden V oyageThe Titanic began her maiden voyage from Southampton, England, bound for New York City, New York, on Wednesday, 10 April 1912, with Captain Edward J. Smith in command. The Titanic was so large that it had to be anchored offshore and ferries carried passengers to her. Upon embarking, there was a grand total of 2,240 people aboard. Many famous individuals during the time were aboard theTitanic including White Star’s managing director J. Bruce Ismay, and the ship’s builder Thomas Andrews.Titanic SinksOn Sunday, April 14, 1912, the temperature of the Atlantic Ocean dropped to near freezing; the night was clear and calm. The ship’s captain had recei ved various ice warnings from other vessels, some of which reached the captain and others which did not. At 23:40, while sailing about 400 miles south of the Grand Banks of Newfoundland, lookouts spotted a large iceberg directly in the path of the Titanic. captain Smith took a hard left to try to steer clear of the iceberg, but the massive chunk of ice produced a gaping hole in the starboard site of the Titanic. As the iceberg tore a 299 foot gash in the hull of the Titanic, water begun flooding into the watertight compartments. The Titanic was designed to be able to float with four of these compartments damaged, but the gaping hole exposed five of them, causing the Titanic’s bulkheads to fall below the waterline.Titanic SinkingThe captain ordered the lifeboats deployed and a distress signal be sent out. Ships that received the signal include Mount Temple, Frankfurt, and the Titanic’s sister the Olympic, but none could reach the sinking Titanic in time. Lights from another vessel could be seen in the distance, and although the identity of the ship remains a mystery, speculation is that it was the lights of the Californian or a sealer called the Sampson. The Californian had warned the Titanic’s wireless operator of ice ahead and received an angry response back about being too busy to listen. It is believed that the Californian had seen the distress rockets launched by the Titanic, but the Morse Lamp distress signals had not. Many of the lifeboats were launched without being at full capacity and a woman and children policy being the standar d for who got to board. By 02:05 the ship’s bow was completely underwater and all but 2 Titanic lifeboats had been launched.By 02:10 the waterline had breached the deck of the boat and the last two lifeboats had drifted to sea, one upside down and the other filled with water. At 02:20 the Titanic sank into the ocean.Titanic SurvivorsOf the 2,223 passengers on the Titanic, only 706 survived leaving 1,517 dead. The largest percentage of survivors were first class passengers, followed by second class, and finally third class. Most of the deaths were due to, which would cause death in less than 15 minutes. 6 of the 7 children in first class survived. All of the children in second class survived, whereas only 34 percent were saved in third class. 4 first class women died, 86 percent women survived in second class and less than half survived in third class. Overall, only 20 percent of the men survived, compared to nearly 75 percent of the women. First-class men were four times as likely to survive as second-class men, and twice as likely to survive as third class men. Another disparity is that a greater percentage of British passengers died than American passengers; some sources claim this could be because many Britons of the time were too polite and queued, rather than to force and elbow their way onto the lifeboats as some Americans did. The captain, Edward John Smith, shouted out: “Be British, boys, be British!” as the ocean liner went down, according to witnesses.Titanic Wreckage and ArtifactsWreckage of the TitanicThe Titanic wreckage was thought to be at the bottom of the Atlantic Ocean until it was discovered on September 1, 1985 by a French/American expedition using side-scan sonar for the vessel Knorr. The Titanic wreckage was 2.5 miles down and about 370 miles from Mistaken Point, Newfoundland. Dr. Robert Ballard, who was part of the first expedition, returned in 1986 for the first manned diveinto the wreckage in the submersible Alvin. The most astounding discovery of the time was that the Titanic had actually split apart despite what was originally assumed. Plates, chairs, and other Titanic artifacts are scattered all around the wreckage, while softer material such as wood and human remains have been devoured by underwater organisms. Dr. Ballard originally did not bring up any Titanic artifacts due to the fact that he saw this action as the equivalent of grave robbing, but many were eventually recovered and put on display at the National Maritime Museum in Greenwich, England or part of a traveling exhibition.Titanic wreckage has remained relatively stationary, but scientists believe that the multiple expeditions have caused extensive damage to the shipwreck and believe that the Titanic wreckage will collapse to the ocean floor within the next 50 years due to extensive damage caused by tourism and exploration. The mast has almost completely deteriorated and has been stripped of its bell and brass light. Other damage includes a gash on the bow section where block letters once spelled Titanic, part of the brass telemotor which once held the ship’s wooden wheel is now twisted and the crow’s nest is completely deteriorated. The main idea of this articleAlthough this is an advertisement of a special trip to the bottom of the sea to witness the disaster. It indicates huge amount of information about titanic disaster including its history, structure, life boats, maiden voyage, sinks, survivors and artifacts.Titanic’s structure showed the bigness of industry. Is was regarded as virtually unsinkable. It has the greatest power, the most luxurious adorn. It would be an honor to travel on the vessel. The most interesting design is that it had four funnels, one of them was only for ventilation purposes, to make it look more beautiful. Then came its maiden voyage. The largest peacetime maritime disasters in history took up. Of the 2223 passengers on the Titanic, only 706 survived leaving 1517 dead. It attracted many famous individuals that time including Britain and American rich men and politician. The boss of this vessel, the White Star company, planed to make a great hit that time. However, they would never predict this tragedy.April 14, 1912, this is a special day that people won’t forget. Titanic sank in this cold night. A huge iceberg tore a 299 foot gash in the hull of the Titanic. It took hours for Titanic to sink into the bottom of Atlantic. Most of the deaths were due to hypothermia in the freezing water. But what people now are most interested about is the reason why Titanic sank. Some people put the blame on the captain, for his ignorance of the information about the iceberg. The lack of crash boats is also accused by many people. And other interesting reasons included alien attack and someone’s conspiracy. But no one can guarantee his reason. The reason has become a mystery as Titanic sank into the Atlantic.。

Reading "Titanic" in "Exemplary English 8" was an emotional yet fascinating experience. The story took me on a journey back to that fateful night, when the "unsinkable" ship met its tragic end.The characters were so vivid and real, it was almost like watching a movie. I could feel the anticipation and excitement as the passengers boarded the Titanic, dreaming of a luxurious crossing. The details of the ship's interior and the lives of the passengers were described with such richness, it was easy to imagine myself being there. But then came the iceberg. The moment of impact was described with such intensity, I felt my heart race. The panic and chaos that followed were portrayed with such realism, I couldn't help but feel the desperation of those on board. One of the most moving parts was the story of theheroic acts of some of the passengers and crew. They risked their lives to save others, showing true courage and self-sacrifice. These moments of bravery in the midst of such tragedy were truly inspiring. The ending was heartbreaking, but also a reminder of the fleetingness of life. It made me think about the importance of cherishing every moment and valuing the people we love.In all, reading "Titanic" was an emotional roller coaster. It was both a tragic tale and a celebration of human spirit. It left me with a profound sense of the fragility of life and the beauty of love and sacrifice.。

chapter 1
7. Jack Phillips
Jack
Chapter 2 冰山
Chapter 3
Phillips
Phillips
Phillips
Chapter 4
Chapter 5
26. Capathia
)
比如天空的颜色;
比如连你自己都不知道为什么会喜欢上的那个人;
也许你最后也没能牵到那个人的手,但是你付出了就不会有遗憾;
也许最后你也只是默默无闻,但你曾经为了将来努力地奋斗了一把;
