O PERATOR'S M ANUALVersion 3Dec. 9, 20052117 East 5th StreetSuperior, WI 54880 USAtel: 715-398-3627fax: 715-398-3279© 2004, 2005, 2006 Crane Song, LTD. Subject to change without notice. Printed in the U.S.A.A TDM Plug-inPhoenix is Crane Song’s suite of TDM only plug-ins designed to emulate the unique prop-erties of a magnetic tape machine. Designer Dave Hill has crafted this software with the same attention to detail he used to create the electronics for ATR Service’s much heralded “Aria” discrete tape recorders. His intimate knowledge of analog electronics, as well as decades of experience as a recording engineer has spawned a very useful, musical suite of plug-ins. The Phoenix process not only incorporates the nonlinear saturation characteris-tics created by magnetic tape itself, but also includes the interrelation of an analog tape recorder’s record/reproduce electronics and equalization curves. The Phoenix suite is not merely a downscaled version of the Crane Song HEDD processor, but a ground-up applica-tion derived from HEDD technology, and specifically engineered and optimized for Digidesign’s TDM architecture.Five different TDM plug-ins emulate different tape characteristics, each one incorporating a color change button allowing three choices to modify the process. The Gold button is the position where the color is approximately flat in frequency response, with Sapphire being a brighter, and Opal being a warmer tonality. A level control determines the amount of the Phoenix process integrated into the audio signal, and an input trim determines “how hard you hit the tape.” Because the DSP process is level dependent, reducing the input level will also cause a change in sound. The input trim can also be used to prevent clipping in the rare cases where clipping may be a problem. This can be useful on material that is hitting close to or at digital zero. When the input trim is at 0dB, (no change in gain) and no tape process is being added to the sound, the plug-in is bit accurate, meaning the output exactly matches the input. The Phoenix suite contains five separate plug-ins:•Luminescent is the most neutral sounding process of the five.•Iridescent has a similar magnetic character, but with a fatter bottom and midrange. This plug-in is the most similar to the tape knob on HEDD-192.•Radiant is characterized by a more aggressive compression curve•Dark Essence is even more aggressive. (The effect is a color with a wider frequency range—when used on a vocal Dark Essence can reduce sibilance problems byincreasing the apparent loudness of the rest of the signal.)•Luster starts more gently than the other four processes, but becomes as aggressive as Dark Essence when the process is at full scale.Running within Digidesign’s TDM architecture, Phoenix is very DSP efficient. It will run approximately twenty instances of a plug-in on a single DSP chip (HD system at 44.1 kHz sample rate).Phoenix’s color is dependant on signal level, program material and sample rate. A higher sample rate results in smother soundsThe Phoenix plug-in suite provides a wide range of choices to make your digital world sound warmer, fatter, and more analog. The plug-ins can be somewhat subtle, but the cumulative affect when used on a number of tracks can bring back the warmth and rich-ness which only analog recording has been able to provide.By grabing the text “INPUT TRIM” with the mouse and moving in the vertical direction the input trim level can be adjusted. It can also have a value between 0 and -12db entered into the window. The Process level can be moved by a mouse by grabbing it’s knob and mov-ing the mouse vertically. It can also have a value entered into it’s window with 0 db being the maximum value. Phoenix is mono, multi-mono, stereo and 5.1 capable.InstallationInstall the plug-in in and osX system by putting the decompressed file into theApplications/DigiDesign/ProTools/Plug-Ins alias directory.Under os9 the decompressed file is put into the System/DAE Folder/Plug-Ins directoryThe latest version of Phoenix contains an installer for PT7 and PT6.9 and manual installation is not required.System RequirementsYou MUST have the following to run a Crane Song Plug-In:Pro Tools TDM Hardware: MIX or HD.

It draws 7.2 Amps at 80°F, 60% RH. If used in a wet area, a ground fault interrupter (GFI) is required. If an extension cord is required, it must have a minimum of 14 gauge conductors if 25 feet long or less and 12 gauge conductors if greater than 25 feet long.2.4 Condensate RemovalThe Phoenix 200HT is equipped with an internal condensate pump to remove the water that is condensed during dehumidification. This allows the condensate to be pumped 30’ with the attached hose. If the condensate must be pumped more than 20 feet above the unit, a second pump must be added to relay the condensate. If the pump fails and the unit must be used before it can be replaced, the condensate can be drained by gravity (see Sec. 4.9).2.5 DuctingA detachable rectangular exhaust collar is supplied that will allow 10” round lay-flat duct to be attached to the Phoenix 200HT outlet. To attach ducting to a collar, put the plastic duct end through the collar center and roll the duct end outward so that it overlaps the outside of the collar. The duct and collar may then be quickly attached to the Phoenix 200HT by snapping the collar over the four screws at the blower outlet.2.6 Power ButtonPress the POWER button to turn the dehumidifier on or off. When starting the dehumidifier the display will show the accumulated hours. Press the POWER button again to turn the dehumidifier off. The display will also power off.2.7 Pump Purge ButtonDuring normal operation the pump automatically cycles every four minutes. Press the PURGE button to remove condensate manually from the reservoir. There are several ways to manually remove water from the reservoir:1. Press the PURGE button once and the pump will run for20 seconds2. Press and hold the PURGE button and the pump will runfor up to 30 seconds3. Press the PURGE button while the dehumidifier ispowered off and the pump will run for 30 seconds. Always manually purge the water reservoir before transport or storage. Turn off the power and allow the plugged in dehu-midifier to rest 15 minutes before the final purge.2.8 Hour MeterThe digital hour meter displays the amount of time the dehumidifier has been turned on to the tenth of an hour. The hour meter continuously cycles between total machine hours and job hours every 3 seconds. Hours are stored in memory even when the unit is unplugged. The previous totals will be displayed next time the unit is powered on.2.9 HOURS ButtonPressing the HOURS button displays the hour meter when the unit is turned off but plugged into power. To reset job hours, press and hold the HOURS button for 5 seconds when the unit is operating.2.10 DEFROST LightThe DEFROST light turns on when the unit is in defrost mode indicating when the compressor is off.DRYING TIP: Air’s ability to absorb moisture from wet surroundings and the Phoenix 200HT’s ability to remove moisture from that air is greatly improved at higher temperatures. We recommend that the area to be dried be heated to over 70°F if possible. Less drying time will be required and efficiency will improve.2.11 Low Pressure ProtectionIf the low side pressure drops to 35 PSIG, the low pressure control opens and shuts of the compressor. It is an automati-cally reset control. Its primary function is to prevent dam-age to the compressor if a leak develops in the refrigeration system.2.12 Defrost CycleIf the low side refrigerant temperature drops below the defrost set point, due to excessive frost formation onthe evaporator coil, the thermistor activates the solidstate control and the defrost light. The control cyclesthe compressor “off” and “on” by monitoring thermistor temperature. The air mover will continue to run, causing air to flow through the evaporator coil. The air will melt the ice that formed on the evaprator. When the air temperature and/or humidity increases, the evaporator temperature will rise and the thermistor will end the defrost cycle restarting the compressor. If the evaporator temperature does not reach the desired temperature, the compressor will start after 15 minutes. The system will start a timed defrost cycle. The timed defrost cycle ensures the unit will continue to remove water from the air in cool ambient conditions.2.13 Temperature Specific OperationAbove 90F –When the Phoenix 200 HT is used in high temperature conditions (above 90F), the refrigerant temperature inside the condenser rises. By removing the bypass magnet from the bypass openings, additional airflow is directed over the condenser and less airflow is directed across the evaporator. The airflow differences improve the dehumidifier efficiency.Below 90F – When the Phoenix 200 HT is used in low temperature conditions (below 90F), the refrigerant temperature inside the condenser lowers. By adding a bypass magnet to the bypass openings, additional airflowis added through the evaporator. The airflow difference improves the dehumidifier efficiency.3 Maintenance3.1 Air FilterThe Phoenix 200HT is equipped with a pleated fabric air filter that must be checked regularly. The standard filter is a MERV-11 high efficiency filter. Operating the unit with a dirty filter will reduce the dehumidifier’s capacity and efficiency and may cause the compressor to cycle off and on unnecessarily on the defrost control.IMPORTANT: DO NOT operate the unit without the filteror with a less effective filter as the heat exchanger and coils inside the unit could become clogged and require disassembly to clean.3.2 StorageThere are two issues to consider when the Phoenix 200HT is stored between uses. Both pertain to the water trapped in the unit: damage caused by freezing or biological growth. The effect of the trapped water can be greatly reduced if precautions are taken to remove as much as possible before storage.1. Use the pump purge switch (see Sec.2.7) to reduce thewater level in the reservoir.2. Stretch the hose flat to drain it completely. Raise oneend above your head and spool to drain water out of the other end.If the unit will not be exposed to freezing temperatures, an alternative to reduce biological growth is to flush the unit with a bio-fungicide that is approved for use with copper, aluminum and polyethylene. To flush:1. Run the hose to a drain.2. Plug in the unit but do not turn it on.3. Remove the air filter. Slowly pour a quart of the chemicalthrough the heat exchanger4. Hold in the pump purge switch to reduce the water levelin the reservoir.5. Flush with water.CAUTION: If the supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, its service agent or similarly qualified person in order to avoid a hazard.4.1 Technical DescriptionThe Phoenix 200HT uses a refrigeration system similar to an air conditioner’s to remove heat and moisture from incoming air, and to add heat to the air that is discharged (see Fig. 2).Hot, high pressure refrigerant gas is routed from the compressor to the condenser coil (see Figure 2). The refrigerant is cooled and condensed by giving up its heatto the air that is about to be discharged from the unit. The refrigerant liquid then passes through a filter/drier and capillary tubing which cause the refrigerant pressure and temperature to drop. It next enters the evaporator coil where it absorbs heat from the incoming air and evaporates. The evaporator operates in a flooded condition, which means that all the evaporator tubes contain liquid refrigerant during normal operation. A flooded evaporator should maintain constant pressure and temperature across the entire coil, from inlet to outlet.Figure 2: Refrigeration systemThe mixture of gas and liquid refrigerant enter the accumulator after leaving the evaporator coil. The accumulator prevents any liquid refrigerant from reaching the compressor. The compressor evacuates the cool refrigerant gas from the accumulator and compresses it to a high pressure and temperature to repeat the process.4.2 TroubleshootingNo dehumidification, neither hour meter display nor compressor run and POWER button does not turn ON.1. Incorporating cosmetic fillers that bridgegaps between the forged parts and the carbon could smooththe appearance but add on considerable weight. This runscounter to the Scalpel design philosophy. The Scalpel 100 Zero-Pivot carbon fiber rear chain and seatstay assemblies were engineered with a strategic compositionof modulus and a tactical lay-up. The design progressed gramby gram. We want you to have confidence that the less thansexy looks are not defects in manufacture. We attempt to reduce the appearance of epoxy, visible gaps, and alignment between the bonded parts by carefully preparing the inner diameter of the stays before bonding. The actual bond area between the protrusion and inner surface of the chainstay are tightly controlled. The strength of the bonds between the parts are then proofed test by a specially developed manufacturing fixture. The fact remains, however, that some visible gaps and slight misalignments will be present. The edge of a carbon stay maybe higher than the matching contour of the forged part.Additionally, you will notice that the carbon stays are not sanded, painted, or clear coated. Again, the carbon staysappear as they would straight out of the clean molds. Youmay even see the mold parting lines in the stays. Here again, itmakes more sense to refrain from painting over the chain andseat stays since they are designed to flex, and that fact wouldcause paint to crack.Imperfect looking bond gaps or alignment are not structuraldefects. However, during regular frame inspection, it isimportant that you inspect for cracks in parts or relativemovement between them. If you do see this type of damage, stop riding the bike and have it inspected by your CannondaleDealer.Intersection of bonded parts are not covered with fillers or painted.PROTRUSIONSSEATSTAYCHAINSTAYDROPOUTB O N D AR E AACTUALCAD MODEL CROSS-SECTION OF BOND AREA。

How It Works: The humidifier absorbs up to 10 times its own weight in water and slowly releases it through the vent holes to maintain proper humidity for your instrument. Constructed from customextruded non-allergenic resin, the tube is soft enough to stay in place against the soundhole while minimizing contact with the instrument’s interior.
To accommodate string geometry and eliminate buzzing from the strings hitting the frets during vibration, every guitar neck has “relief” —the amount of curvature required for the strings to vibrate freely. Neck relief can change as wood shrinks or swells, moving in response to seasonal changes in relative humidity. To counteract this movement your Paramount acoustic guitar contains a dual-action truss rod—the truss rod nut is located at the heel of the neck, inside the guitar’s body.

This means that as soon as you connect it to a network, it will look for a DHCP server in order to obtain an IP address. If a DHCP server is present, Prism 8x8, 12x12 and 16x16 will obtain an IP address from it. This process may take several minutes. With your PC attached to the same network, and thus getting its IP address from the same DHCP server, all will be ready to go.If your network does not have a DHCP server, Prism 8x8, 12x12 and 16x16 will not be able to obtain an IP address. While waiting, Prism 8x8, 12x12 and 16x16 will defaultto a private IP address in the range of 169.254.x.x where x.x is the last four alphanumeric characters of Prism 8x8,12x12 and 16x16’s MAC address (MAC address hex value is converted to decimal for IP address). Prism 8x8, 12x12 and 16x16’s MAC address can be found on a sticker on the bottom of hardware. When there is no DHCP server present to assign IP addresses to either Prism 8x8, 12x12 and 16x16 or your PC, you may need to configure your PC with a static IP in the range of 169.254.x.x with a Subnet Mask of 255.255.0.0 in order to communicate with Prism 8x8, 12x12 and 16x16 in a direct connect mode. However, if your PC is using the self-assigned a similar private IP address in the range of 169.254.x.x, and if this is the case, you should be able to connect to Prism 8x8, 12x12 and 16x16 directly.Even if the PC’s default settings have been changed, Prism 8x8, 12x12 and 16x16 will try to establish communications by setting up appropriate routing table entries to reach devices with 169.254.x.x addresses.Connecting to Prism 8x8, 12x12 and 16x16 from a host computer on the same LANBoth Prism 8x8, 12x12, 16x16 and the host computer require the following 3 items:1. IP Address - The unique address of a node on a network.2. Subnet Mask - Configuration that defines which IPAddresses are included in a particular subnet.3. Default Gateway (optional) - The IP address of a devicethat routes traffic from one subnet to another. (This is only needed when the PC and Prism 8x8, 12x12 and 16x16 are on different subnets). If you are adding Prism 8x8, 12x12 or 16x16 to an existing network, a network administrator will be able to providethe above information or it may have been provided automatically by a DHCP server. For security reasons, itis not recommended to put Prism 8x8, 12x12 and 16x16 directly on the Internet. If you do, a network administratoror your Internet Service Provider can provide the above information. If you are on your own private network, directly or indirectly connected to Prism 8x8, 12x12 and 16x16, you may allow Prism 8x8, 12x12 and 16x16 to choose an automatic IP address or you may choose to assign it a static IP address. If you are building your own separate network with static assigned addresses, you may consider using an IP Address from one of the “Private-Use” networks noted in RFC-1918: 1. 172.16.0.0/12 = IP Addresses 172.16.0.1 through172.31.254.254 and a Subnet Mask of 255.240.0.02. 192.168.0.0/16 = IP Addresses 192.168.0.1 through192.168.254.254 and a Subnet Mask of 255.255.0.03. 10.0.0.0/8 = IP Addresses 10.0.0.1 through10.254.254.254 and a Subnet Mask of 255.0.0.0 Connecting to Prism 8x8, 12x12 and 16x16 through a Firewall/VPNWe have successfully tested control of Prism 8x8, 12x12 and 16x16 through a firewall and VPN, but are unable to guarantee performance of these types of connections at this time.
