AIf you have the opportunity to visit some places in New Zealand, then the list below is our recommendation.Fiordland National ParkThis park is part of the South Westland World Heritage Area and is New Zealand’s largest national park and one of the largest in the world. The scenery in Fiordland is nothing short of extremely beautiful, with steep mountains, wild waterfalls, and abundant rain forests. Being able to come back and forth in its deep bay attracts most of the visitors. The area has some of the w orld’s greatest walks including the world famous Milford Track, which was described as the finest walk in the world in the early twentieth century.Abel Tasman National ParkAbel Tasman may be New Zealand’s smallest national park, but the attractions are huge. Located in one of New Zealand’s sunniest spots, the area also has the best beaches in the country. The popular Abel Tasman Walk is a great way to see this park. It takes 3-5 days to complete. Sea taxis are also available and can drop you off at any number of beaches within the park.RotoruaAccessible from New Zealand’s biggest city, Auckland, Rotorua is famous for its volcanic activities. Rotorua is also famous for its plentiful lakes which are great for swimming and fishing. The surrounding area contains plenty of native bushes and some famous walks.Rotorua is also the best area in the country to experience and learn about Maori culture.Mt Cook National ParkMt Cook as well as the surrounding area is an alpine(高山的) park within the World Heritage listed in South Westland. The biggest peaks in all of Australasia are here. The park doesn’t contain many trees or plants due to the altitude. Walks range from a twohour walk to difficult tracks suitable for ex perienced mountaineers only.A helicopter or plane ride gives visitors excellent views of the mountains with the option of landing at the top of Tasman Glacier, a true permanent snowcovered alpine environment.【解题导语】本文是一篇应用文,主要介绍了新西兰值得游玩的几个地方。

What you need is a great teacher who lets you make mistakes. “It takes a lot for any student,” Whaley explains,“especially for a student who is learning English as their new language,to feel confident enough to say,‘I don’t know, but I want to know.’”Whaley got the idea of this second-grade presidential campaign project when he asked the children one day to raise their hands if they thought they could never be a president. The answer broke his heart. Whaley says the project is about more than just learning to read and speak in public. She may just need a little persuading. So I try again and tug at the heartstrings. I mention the single parent with four kids running the show and I talk about the dad coaching a team that his kids aren’t even on … At this point the unwilling parent speaks up,“Alright. Yes, I’ll do it.”I’m secretly relieved because I know there’s real power in sharing vol unteer responsibilities among many. The unwilling parent organizes the meal schedule, sends out emails, and collects money for end-of-season gifts. Somewhere along the way, the same parent ends up becoming an invaluable member of the team. The coach is able to focus on the kids while the other parents are relieved to be off the hook for another season. Handing out sliced oranges to bloodthirsty kids can be as exciting as watching your own kid score a goal.Still, most of us volunteers breathe a sigh of relief when the season comes to a close. That relief is coupled with a deep understanding of why the same people keep coming back for more: Connecting to the community(社区)as you freely give your time, money, skills, or services provides a real joy. V olunteering just feels so good.In that sense, I’m pretty sure volunteering is more of a selfish act than I’d freely like to admit. However, if others benefit in the process, and I get some reward too, does it really matter where my motivation lies?24. What can we infer about the parent from her reply in paragraph l?A. She knows little about the club.B. She isn't good at sports.C. She just doesn't want to volunteer.D. She's unable to meet her schedule.25. What can we learn about the parent from paragraph 3?A. She gets interested in lacrosse.B. She is proud of her kids.C. She’ll work for anoth er season.D. She becomes a good helper.27. Why does the author like doing volunteer work?A. It gives her a sense of duty.B. It makes her very happy.C. It enables her to work hard.D. It brings her material rewards.3. III,C】Before the 1830s,most newspapers were sold through annual subscriptions in America, usually $8 to $10 a year. Today $8 or $10 seems a small amount of money, but at that time these amounts were forbidding to most citizens. Accordingly, newspapers were read almost only by rich people in politics or the trades. In addition, most newspapers had little in them that would appeal to a mass audience. They were dull and visually forbidding. But the revolution that was taking place in the 1830s would change all that. The trend, then, was toward the "penny paper"-a term referring to papers made widely available to the public. It meant any inexpensive newspaper; perhaps more importantly it meant newspapers that could be bought in single copies on the street. This development did not take place overnight. It had been possible(but not easy)to buysingle copies of newspapers before 1830,but this usually meant the reader had to go down to the printer's office to purchase a copy. Street sales were almost unknown. However, within a few years, street sales of newspapers would be commonplace in eastern cities. At first the price of single copies was seldom a penny-usually two or three cents was charged-and some of the olderwell-known papers charged five or six cents. But the phrase "penny paper " caught the public's fancy, and soon there would be papers that did indeed sell for only a penny. This new trend of newspapers for "the man on the street" did not begin well. Some of the early ventures(企业)were immediate failures. Publishers already in business, people who were owners of successful papers, had little desire to change the tradition. It took a few youthful and daring businessmen to get the ball rolling.28. Which of the following best describes newspapers in America before the 1830s?A. Academic.B. Unattractive.C. Inexpensive.D. Confidential.29. What did street sales mean to newspapers?A. They would be priced higher.B. They would disappear from cities.C. They could have more readers.D. They could regain public trust.30. Who were the newspapers of the new trend targeted at?A. Local politicians.B. Common people.C. Young publishers.D. Rich businessmen.31. What can we say about the birth of the penny paper?A. It was a difficult process.B. It was a temporary success.C. It was a robbery of the poor.D. It was a disaster for printers.4. B】Alice Moore is a teenager entrepreneur(创业者), who in May 2015 set up her business AilieCandy. There was not one night that I don't remember mom reading me a storybook by my bedside. I was extremely inspired by the elegant way the words sounded.I always wanted to know what my mom was reading. Hearing mom say," I can't believe what's printed in the newspaper this morning," made me want to grab it out of her hands and read it myself. I wanted to be like my mom and know all of the things she knew. So I carried around a book, and each night, just to be like her, I would pretend to be reading. This is how everyone learned to read. We would start off with sentences, then paragraphs, and then stories. It seemed an unending journey, but even as a six-year-old girl I realized that knowing how to read could open many doors. When mom said," The C-A-N-D-Y is hidden on the top shelf," I knew where the candy was. My progress in reading raised my curiosity, and I wanted to know everything. I often found myself telling my mom to drive more slowly, so that I could read all of the road signs we passed. Most of my reading through primary, middle and high school was factual reading. I read for knowledge, and to make A's on my tests. Occasionally, I would read a novel that was assigned, but I didn't enjoy this type of reading. I liked facts, things that are concrete. I thought anything abstract left too much room for argument.Yet, now that I'm growing and the world I once knew as being so simple is becoming more complex, I find myself needing a way to escape. By opening a novel, I can leave behind my burdens and enter into a wonderful and mysterious world where I am now a new character. In these worlds I can become anyone. I don't have to write down what happened or what technique the author was using when he or she wrote this. I just read to relax. We're taught to read because it's necessary for much of human understanding. Reading is a vital part of my life. Reading satisfies my desire to keep learning. And I've found that the possibilities that lie within books are limitless.41. Why did the author want to grab the newspaper out of mom's hands?A. She wanted mom to read the news to her.B. She was anxious to know what had happened.C. She couldn't wait to tear the newspaper apart.D. She couldn't help but stop mom from reading.42. According to Paragraph 3,the author's reading of road signs indicates___________A. her unique way to locate herselfB. her eagerness to develop her reading abilityC. her effort to remind mom to obey traffic rulesD. her growing desire to know the world around her.43. What was the author's view on factual reading?A. It would help her update test-taking skills.B. It would allow much room for free thinking.C. It would provide true and objective information.D. It would help shape a realistic and serious attitude to life.44. The author takes novel reading as a way to___________.A. explore a fantasy landB. develop a passion for leaningC. learn about the adult communityD. get away from a confusing world45. What could be the best title for the passage?A. The Magic of ReadingB. The Pleasure of ReadingC. Growing Up with ReadingD. He was losing his memory.A software engineer by profession, Steve was a keen lover of the piano, and the only musician in his family. Music was his true passion, though he had never performed outside the family.Melissa, his daughter, felt it more than worthwhile to save his music, to which she fell asleep catch night when she was young. She thought about hiring a professional pianist to work with her father.Naomi, Melissa’s best friend and a talented pianist, got to know about this and showed willingness to help.“Why do this?” Steve wondere d.“Because she cares.” Melissa said.Steve nodded, tears in eye.Naomi drove to the Goodwin home. She told Steve she’d love to hear him play. Steve moved to the piano and sat at the bench, hands trembling as he gently placed his fingers on the keys.Naomi put a small recorder near the piano, Starts and stops and mistakes. Long pauses, heart sinking. But Steve pressed on, playing for the first time in his life for a stranger.“It was beautiful." Naomi said after listening to the recording. “The music was wo rth saving.”Her responsibility, her privilege, would be to rescue it. The music was still in Steve Goodwin. It was bidden in rooms with doors about to be locked.Naomi and Steve met every other week and spent hours together. He’d move his fingers clumsily on the piano, and then she’d take his place. He struggled to explain what he heard in his head. He stood by the piano, eyes closed, listening for the first time to his own work being played by someone else.Steve and Naomi spoke in musical code lines, beats, intervals, moving from the root to end a song in a new key. Steve heard it. All of it. He just couldn’t play it.Working with Naomi did wonders for Steve. It had excited within him the belief he could write one last song. One day, Naomi received an email. Attached was a recording, a recording of loss and love, of the fight. Steve called it “Melancholy Flower”.Naomi heard multiple stops and starts, Steve struggling, searching while his wife Joni called him “honey” and encouraged him. The task was so har d, and Steve, angry and upset, said he was quitting. Joni praised him, telling her husband this could be his signature piece.Naomi managed to figure out 16 of Steve’s favorite, and most personal songs. With Naomi’s help, the Goodwin family found a sound e ngineer to record Naomi playing Steve’s songs. Joni thought that would be the end. But it wasn’t.In the months leading up to the 2016 Oregon Repertory Singers Christmas concert, Naomi told the director she had a special one in mind: “Melancholy Flower”。

我买了一本书.b.I buy a book today.c.I bought a book yesterday. The teacher told us that the earth goes around the sun.B.) He bought a book yesterday.(是昨天买的,但今天有没有买不知道)C.) He says that he will go to America next year.He said that he would go to America next year.2)动词:will do/would do3)用法:还未发生. If you go to the part tomorrow, you will have a good time.D.)进行时1)时间:时间点(具体的时间点或抽象的时间点)He was doing his work at 8:00 yesterday morning.(具体时间点)He was waiting his friends in the airport when I arrived at his home.(抽象时间点)2)动词:be+doing现在进行时:is/am/are doing过去进行时:was/were doing将来进行时:will be doing3)用法:正在做或未完成E.) He lived in Beijing for 3 years, but now he lives in Shanghai.b. He has kept the book for 3 years.(本句中不能用has bought) 2)动词:have/has + done3)用法:动作过去发生但与现在有关4)句型:a. Sine +时间点b. For +时间段c. It is/have been+时间+sine从句(从句用一般过去时)e. It is +次数+(that)从句(从句用一般过去时)5)标志词:so far, recently, in the past/last+时间例如:My hometown has changed a lot in the past five years.F.)过去完成时1)时间:过去的过去2)动词:had + doneWhen I arrived at the station, the train had left.It was+次数+(that)+从句(从句用过去完成时)G.) He usually writes a lot of letters, but he isn't writing at present. The Earth goes around the Sun. I was reading a novel last night.昨晚我在看小说(可能没看完).I read a novel last night. Did he ask questions? He was asking questions all the time. 他昨天下午画了一张画(昨天下午他做了这么一件事).He was drawing a picture yesterday afternoon. 他昨天下午画了一张画(昨天下午他做了这么一件事).He was drawing a picture yesterday afternoon. They've gone to Paris. I haven't seen the film yet.我还没看过这部影片(到目前为止).I saw the film the day before yesterday. She is sixteen, who will be seventeen next year. What will you be doing at this time next Monday? She is sixteen, who will be seventeen next year. What will you be doing at this time next Monday? Have you been meeting her lately?(经常相见)Have you met her lately?(不重复发生)(3)现在完成进行时比较生动,有时含有明显的感情色彩;而现在完成时往往只说明一个事实、一种影响或结果,平铺直叙,没有什么感情色彩可言.如:Recently Mary has been doing her homework regularly.(显然是在表扬玛丽)Recently Mary has done her homework regularly.(只说明一个事实)D. 被动语态1)一般形式Be+done2)具体时态的被动一般现在时的被动:is/am/are+done一般过去时的被动:was/were+done现在完成时的被动:have/has been done过去完成时的被动:had been done3)特殊用法(1)英语中有很多动词,如break,catch,clean,drive,look,open,sell,read,write,wash等,当它们被用作不及物动词来描述主语特征时,常用其主动形式表达被动意义,主语通常是物;在这种情况下,常常和easily,well等副词连用.This kind of cloth washes well. The sign reads as follows. This material won't wear. The machine runs well. Your reason sounds reasonable. The house needs repairing/to be repaired. The problem is difficult to work out.这道题很难计算出.(可看作to work out省略了for me)(5)be to rent/blame/let也属于主动形式表被动意义.Who is to blame for the mistake? The houses are to let. 常见的有:under control受控制;under treatment在治疗中;under repair在修理中;under discussion在讨论中;under construction在施工中;beyond belief令人难以置信;beyond one's reach鞭长莫及;beyond one's control无法控制;beyond our hope我们始料不及;for sale出售;for rent出租;in print在印刷中;in sight在视野范围内;on sale出售;on show展出;on trial受审;out of control 控制不了;out of sight超出视线;out of one's reach够不着;out of fashion不流行.如:The rumor is beyond belief(=can't be believed). Today some treasures are on show(=are being shown)in the museum. Being done to be done被动,进行将来,被动Having done主动,完成非谓语的否定是在非谓语前面加not:not doing/not to doViewing from the top of the mountain, I can see a beautiful city. Viewed from the top of the mountain, the city is very beautiful. 就用to doTo get there on time I got up very early.3)表结果,一般用only to doThe reporter hurried to the airport, only to be told the start had left.4)表原因We were very excited to hear the news.5)一些形容词如:difficult, hard, easy, happy, pleasant等后面接to do6)固定句型:it is +adj/n for/of sb. +to doE. 这样的过去分词及短语常见的有:seated(坐着的)、hidden(躲着)、stationed(驻扎)、lost/absorbed in(沉溺于)、born in(出身于)、dressed in(穿着)、tired of(厌烦了)等.Lost/Absorbed in deep thought,he didn't hear the sound.2)With复合结构with复合结构(with+宾语+宾语补足语)作状语,是用现在分词、过去分词还是动词不定式作宾语补足语,关键是看宾语和宾语补足语之间的关系.With time passing by(time和pass之间为主动关系),he almost forgot everything in the past. He sat on the chair, with his hands tied(hands和tie之间为被动关系)behind his back. The girl staring at him(=As the girl stared at him),he didn't know what to say. The problems solved(=As the problems were solved),the quality has been improved. He is going to make a model plane, some old parts to help. Do you mind my/me reading your paper? 否定式在doing/to do前加not.(1)I regret not having taken her advice.(not须放在having前)我感到遗憾,没有听从她的建议.(2)They couldn't stand being treated like that. (3)He decided to help me but I pretended to have finished my job. 高考中常见非谓语固定搭配(1)afford,agree,choose,determine,expect,decide,learn,offer,manage,hope,want,wish,promise,refuse,fail,pretend,happen等动词后跟不定式作宾语.(2)appreciate,avoid,bear,consider,dislike,delay,enjoy,escape,finish,hate,imagine,keep,mind,miss,practise,postpone,resist,risk,stand,suggest等动词后跟动名词作宾语.(3)情态动词与虚拟语气A.情态动词1)情态动词基本含义一、can/could与be APersuasion is to convince someone to agree with you, just like art which also calls for special techniques to accomplish. According to the ancient Greeks, there are three basic tools of persuasion: ethos, pathos and logos.Ethos is a speaker’s way of convincing the audience that he is trustworthy, honest and reliable. One common way a speaker can develop ethos is by explaining how much experience or education he has in the field. After all, you’re more likely to listen to advice about how to take care of your teeth from a dentist than a fireman.Pathos is a speaker’s way of connecting with an audience's emotions. For example, a politician who is trying to convince an audience to vote for him might say that he alone can save the country from a terrible war. These words are intended to fill the audience with fear, thus making them want to vote for him. Similarly, an animal charity might show an audience pictures of injured dogs and cats to make the viewers feel pity, so they will be more likely to donate money.Logos is the use of facts, statistics or other evidence to support your argument. An audience will believe you if you have convincing data to back up your claims. Presenting this evidence is much more persuasive than simply saying “believe me”.Although ethos, pathos and logos all have their strengths, they are often most effective when used together. So, the next time you listen to a speech, watch a commercial or listen to a friend try to convince you to lend him some money, be on the lookout for these ancient Greek tools of persuasion.1.What is the purpose of persuasion?A. To advise somebody to support you.B. To help someone have special skillC. To convince somebody to realize his aim.D. To talk someone into being honest.2.What is a speaker’s way of convincing the audience to trust him?A. Pathos.B. Ethos.C. Logos.D. Education.3.What do a politician and an animal charity have in common?A. Both prevent themselves from being hurt.B. Both save people from terrible wars.C. Both make the audience support them.D. Both persuade people to donate money.4.Which of the following can be the best title for the text?A. Convince the AudienceB. Three Basic Tools of PersuasionC. Believe MeD.

ACrossing your legs is an extremely common habit; most people don’t even notice that they’re doing it when they sit down. While you may find it comfortable to sit with one knee crossed over the other, it might be causing health problems that you are not aware of.A study published in Blood Pressure Monitoring stated that sitting with your legs crossed can increase your blood pressure. The reason for this is that the blood in your legs has to work against gravity to be pumped back to your heart and that crossing one leg over the other increases resistance, making it even harder for the blood to circulate. This causes your body to increase your blood pressure to push the blood back to the heart. You won’t feel any immediate effects, but repeated, drawnout increases in blood pressure can cause longterm health issues. So, planning to sit for a long period of time? Don’t keep your legs crossed.“Crossing your legs at the knee can also cause pressure on the major nerve in your leg that passes just below your knee and along the outside of your leg,” explains Richard Graves, a medical expert. This pressure can cause numbness and temporary paralysis(麻痹) of some of the muscles in your foot and leg, preventing you from being able to raise your ankle—wha t we know as that “pins and needles” sensation. While the feeling of discomfort may only last a minute or two, repeatedly crossing your legs until they feel numb can cause permanent nerve damage. So next time you sit down, try to get yourself in the habit of sitting with both of your feet on the floor. Not only will it help your posture and stability, but it will also save your health in the long run.【解题导语】本文是一篇科普说明文。

ANowadays more and more people are talking about genetically modified foods ( GM foods). GM foods develop from genetically modified organisms (有机体), which have had specific changes introduced into their DNA by genetic engineering techniques. These techniques are much more precise where an organism is exposed to chemicals to create a nonspecific but stable change. For many people, the hightech production raises all kinds of environmental, ethical, health and safety problems. Particularly in countries with long farming traditions, the idea seems against nature. In fact, GM foods are already very much a part of our lives. They were first put on the market in 1996. A third of the corn and more than half the cotton grown in the U. S. last year was the product of biotechnology, according to the Department of Agriculture. More than 65 million acres of genetically modified crops will be planted in the US this year. The genetic genie is out of the bottle. However, like any new product entering the food chain, GM foods must be subjected to careful testing. In wealthy countries, the debate about biotech is not so fierce by the fact that they have a large number of foods to choose from, and a supply that goes beyond the needs. In developing countries desperate to feed fastgrowing and underfed populations, the matter is simpler and much more urgent: do the benefits of biotech outweigh the risks? The statistics on population growth and hunger are disturbing. Last year the world's population reached 6 billion. The UN states that nearly 800 million people around the world are unhealthy. About 400 million women of childbearing age don' t have enough iron, which means their babies are exposed to various birth defeats. As many as 100 million children suffer from vitamin A deficiency, a leading cause of blindness. How can biotech help? Genetic engineering is widely used to produce plants and animals with better nutritional values. Biotechnologists have developed genetically modified rice and they are working on other kinds of nutritionally improved crops. Biotech can also improve farming productivity in places where food shortages are caused by crop damage attributable to drought, poor soil and crop viruses.1.The passage mainly talks about________.A. the world's food problemB. the development in biotechC. the genetically modified foodsD. the way to solve food shortages2.According to the passage, GM foods________.A. will replace naturally grown foodsB. are far better than naturally grown foodsC. may help to solve the problem of poor nutritionD. can cause serious trouble in developing countries3.The underlined sentence “The genetic genie is out of the bottle.”in Paragraph 2 probablymeans that________.A.GM foods are available everywhereB. the technology in producing GM foods is advancedC. genetic technology may have uncontrollable powersD. genetic technology has come out of laboratories into markets4.What's the writer's attitude towards GM foods?A. Enthusiastic.B. Cautious.C. Disapproving.D.
