If you share your problems, you’ll feel better.Students these days often have a lot of worries. Sometimes we have problems with our schoolwork, or arguments with our friends. Perhaps we even worry about our parents’problems. What can we do about this ? The worst thing is to do nothing. Laura Mills a teenager from London, agrees. “Problems and worries are normal in life,” says Laura. “But I think talking to someone helps a lot. If we don’t talk to anyone ,we'll certainly feel worse.”Robert Hunt, a counselor from Enland, feels the same way. “In English we say that A problem shared is a peoblems halved. As a counselor, I have to agree with this. We should never run away from our problems. We should always try to solve them. Usually, the first step is finding someone we trust to talk to.”Even Mr Hunt agrees that this doesn’t need to be an expert like himself. We can talk to our friends, teachers, or our parents. We often forget that our parents have more experience than us, and are always there to help us. The main thing is to know that if you look for help, you’ll find it.“You’ll feel so much better if you talk to someone,” says Laura. For example, I once lost my wallet, and I worried for days. I was scared to tell my parents about it. I even walked three miles to school each day because I lost all my money. I just kept thinking, If I tell my parents, they’ll be angry! Anyway, I bet you can guess how the story ended. I talked to my parents and they were really understanding. My dad said he sometimes made careless mistakes himself. They got me a new wallet and just asked me to be more careful. I felt so much better after talking to them. I will always remember to share my problems in future!”

外研英语选择性必修第一册(2019版)U5_Developing_ideas课文中英文对照

1.Talking plants have long been a thing of myths and legends. Manycultures have stories of talking trees that give advice as well as warnings to people. Alexander the Great and Marco Polo were said to have visited such a tree in India. And in some modern stories, such as the film Avatar, trees can communicate with animals and people.

2.With us long believing that talking plants are fantasy, new research hasrevealed something amazing: it appears that plants can communicate after all.

3.It has been known for some time that plants use chemicals tocommunicate with each other. This happens when a plant, say a bean plant, gets attacked by insects. The plant releases tiny amounts of chemicals from the leaves that are being eaten. This is like a warning, ora call for help: “I’m being attacked!” When another bean plant detects thechemicals from its injured neighbour, it starts to release its own, different chemicals. Some of these chemicals drive insects away. Others attract insects—the wasps! The wasps kill the insects that are eating the bean plants. Scientists hope to learn more about this plant warning system, so that we can use it to grow crops without pesticides.

My Experience with Unit 5 in Grade Seven As I embarked on the journey of exploring Unit 5 in Grade Seven, I found myself immersed in a world of fascinating topics and engaging activities. This unit, titled "The Adventures of Tom Sawyer," introduced me to the lively character of Tom Sawyer and his misadventures in a small town.Tom Sawyer's mischievous nature and love for adventure immediately captivated my imagination. His exploits, whether it was playing pranks on his friends or gettinginto scrapes with the authorities, always seemed to end in hilarious and unexpected ways. Reading about his antics made me laugh out loud and reminded me of the fun and freedom of childhood. One of the most enjoyable aspects of this unit was the opportunity to delve deeper into the characters and themes through discussions in class. We analyzed Tom's personality traits, discussed the symbolism in the story, and speculated about the author's intended message. These discussions not only enhanced my understanding of the textbut also fostered a sense of community and collaboration among my classmates. Moreover, the unit encouraged us to engage in creative writing activities. We were asked to imagine ourselves as Tom Sawyer and write about our own adventures. This exercise was not only fun but also challenging as it required us to think outside the box and use our imaginations. I found myself getting lost in a world of my own creation, reliving the thrill of Tom's misadventures through my own words. In addition to the literary aspect, the unit also taught us valuable life lessons. Through Tom's experiences, we learned about the importance of friendship, the consequences of our actions, and the value of standing up for what we believe in. These lessons were presented in a way that was both entertaining and educational, making them easier to digest and remember.Overall, my experience with Unit 5 in Grade Seven was enriching and enjoyable. It not only broadened my literary horizons but also fostered my creativity and critical thinking skills. I am grateful for the opportunity toembark on this journey with my classmates and teacher, andI look forward to exploring more fascinating units in the future.**七年级下册第五单元学习体验**当我开始探索七年级下册第五单元的学习之旅时,我深深地沉浸在一个充满趣味话题和引人入胜的活动的世界中。

A mouse once took a bite out of a bull's tail as he lay dozing. The bull jumped up in a rage and, with his head low to the ground, chased the mouse right across the yard. The mouse was too quick for him, however, and slipped easily into a hole in the wall. The bull charged the wall furiously again and again, but although he bruised his head and chipped his horns, the mouse stayed safely inside his hole. After a time the bull gave up and sank down to rest again. As soon as the bull was asleep, the little mouse crept to the mouth of the hole, pattered across the yard, bit the bull again this time on the nose and rushed back to safety. As the bull roared helplessly the mouse squeaked:"It's not always the big people who come off best. Sometimes the small ones win, you know." A man from the state of Chu was taking a boat across a riverwhen he dropped his sword into the water carelessly. Immediately he made a mark on the side of the boat where the sword dropped, hoping to find it later. When the boat stopped moving, he went into the water to search for his sword at the place where he had marked the boat. As we know, the boat had moved but the sword had not. Isn’t this a very foolish way to look for a sword? Once upon a time, there was an old farmer who planted a plot of rice. After he planted the seedlings, every day he went to the field to watch the seedlings grow. He saw the young shoots break through the soil and grow taller each day, but still, he thought they were growing too slowly. Eventually he got impatient with the young plants and suddenly he hit upon an idea that one by one, he pulled up the young plants by half an inch. The next early morning, the young man couldn’t wait to check his “achievement”, but he was heart-broken to see all the pulled-up young plants dying.。

In the vast and wonderful world of nature, there is an endless array of beauty waiting to be discovered. As ayoung student, I had the opportunity to embark on a journey of environmental exploration, one that not only broadenedmy horizons but also instilled a deep respect for our planet. My journey began in the lush green forests of my hometown, where the towering trees seemed to reach for the skies. With every step, I could feel the earth beneath my feet, rich with life and full of energy. The rustling of leaves and the singing of birds filled the air, creating a symphony of nature that was both calming and invigorating. As I ventured deeper into the forest, I encountered a range of fascinating creatures, from squirrels scampering through the trees to snakes slithering through the grass. Each encounter was a reminder of the diverse and interconnected web of life that exists in our natural world. Beyond the forests, my journey took me to the serene lakes and rivers that dot our landscape. The shimmeringwater reflected the beauty of the surrounding landscape, while the gentle lap of waves and the rustling of reeds provided a soothing balm to the senses. Here, I learned about the importance of conserving our water resources and protecting the aquatic life that depends on them.My exploration of nature did not end there. I also visited the bustling cities and the quiet villages, observing the impact of human activity on the environment.I saw the damage caused by pollution and deforestation, and I understood the urgency of taking action to mitigate these effects.Through my journey, I realized that protecting the environment is not just a responsibility but also a privilege. It is our duty to preserve the beauty and bounty of nature for future generations, and it is a privilege to witness the wonders of the natural world firsthand. As I reflect on my environmental exploration, I amfilled with gratitude for the opportunity to have had such an enriching experience. I am resolved to do my part in protecting our planet, and I hope that my story willinspire others to do the same.**探索自然之美——我的环保之旅**在广阔而美妙的自然世界中,有无数等待被发现的美景。
