The corporation will be developing into a generating company up to the first class management and running level at home, and a long-term, stable and major power supplier in Inner Mongolia autonomous region, North China Power Grid and Northeast Power Grid by setting up a standard corporate running structure and a scientific decision-making mechanism. Taking the advantages of such policies as Western Development and West-East Natural Gas Transmission, the corporation has integrated the location advantages and resources advantages to transform the potential advantages into real ones, to create good economic benefits and achieve an ideal investment returns for shareholders as well as to make contribution to the social and economic development.

Business Scope: projects related to develop, invest, construct and operate the electric power, heat power, coal resources, railway and the supporting infrastructures; working on any products, equipments, technical service as well as import and export trade related to electric power; contracting projects on overseas markets and the international bidding projects on domestic markets in its own industry and dispatching people in engineering, production and labor services in the same field to the outside world; developing business related to investment and financing.

Approved by the State Council, China Huaneng Group (CHNG) has been reorganized into a state-owned enterprise on the basis of the former China Huaneng Group as an organization approved by the State Council to develop any investments authorized by the state and a pilot enterprise for state-holding corporations under the administration of the Party Central Committee. It is an incorporated business entity running its business independently and bearing the full responsibilities related to profits or losses in its overall development focusing on electric power.
