Andrews ' d ecision to learn in a physical classroom is still the preferred choice for adults , accord ing
to a new study by the Pew Research Cen ter.
Pew looked at n early 3,000 people , ages 18 and older.Pew wan ted to know how , and where,
adults learn, after they leave their formal schooling.
“ Learning is still very much a place-based thing , ” says Pew researcher John Horriga n. “ The
Internet plays a role , but it ' s sec on dary in most respects.
For the 74 perce nt of adults who con sidered themselves to be pers on al learners , on ly a third
turned to the Internet for most or all of their lear ning.
The study also found differe nces whe n it comes to educati on and in come level.For those with a
bachelor 'degree (学士学位),tech no logy is help in g.But for those with just a high school diploma (毕
't aw 业文凭),it ' s not playing as big a role.The study even found that many weren of online resources like
lots of open online courses or learning tools like Khan Academy.
Whenna An drews knows about those thi ngs—she even found the homebuyers class on
Facebook.But she prefers lear ning in pers on.
"I feel like the library seems more credible(可信的),if that makes sense,” she says.
