LOVE
“I‟m not a smart man, but I know what love is。” Love is film‟s eternal theme .We give our tears and laughter generously. The love in this film is a process which a man with low IQ speaks out “love”.I think that Forrest doesn‟t only say to Jenny, but also say to his mother and Buba. Because the love realized by Forrest includes maath of his mother and many times Jenny‟s disappearance let Forrest know what love is .In fact, no matter whether Jenny love Forrest, Forrest gets love and we get love from this film.
2. Racialism
• Racialism has a long history in America. In the movie, generations of Bubba‟s families cook shrimps for the white. They black people are servants. What Gump does change this, and heal the mental hurt of black American. He becomes the best friend of Bubba, and after he made a good fortune from shrimp business, he gives Bubba‟s mother a large sum of money. Ever since, humouredly, Bubba‟s mother hires the white people cook shrimps for her.

The war is disastrous and cruel. It takes people‟s lives and ruins people‟s normal life. In Vietnam War, Gump lost his best friend, Bubba, and Lieutenant Dan lost his legs and the wars lead to the abnormal current culture.
RELIGION
• From Forrest Gump we can find that religion plays a vitally important role in the life of American. In this film, the discussion of the relationship between god and human beings never stops. Gump always believes in god and he believes that he is with god and we can see that god seams to favor Gump particularly. While the relationship between god and Lieutenant Dan is rather awkward, in the war, Lieutenant Dan lost his legs, because of that, he was doubtful about god, and in the storm, he cursed god, but finally, he made his peace with god. That is the reflection of the process“doubt about belief, fight with the belief and then back into belief”.
We all have a destiny. Nothing just happens. It„s all part of a plan! 人的命运早已注定，没有一件是巧合，
Mother : It's my time. It's just my time. now ,don't you be afraid sweetheart. Death is just a part of life .Something we are all destined to do .I didn't know it ,but I was destined to be your momma .I did the best I could .

Typical qualities are admired by American.
• The IQ of Gump is just 75, but he never worries about that, his mother tells him “stupid is as stupid does” and finally he makes a series of successes. We can also find loyalty, tolerance, and insistence and so on from Gump. Those are what American think highly of.
Counter Culture
• Film is rather sensitive about times. From Forrest Gump, we can find many current cultures, which are fully illustrated by Jenny. At that time, counter culture was very popular in America, the youngsters ignore the traditional morality, and they blindly follow the trend. But obviously, American began to reflect this kind of culture; they called for the back of the morality, trying to pick up the traditional values. Gump is the represent of the traditional values, so he is widely accepted and successful.

DESTINY
To face destiny, this film has three kinds figure represent three attitudes. Forrest‟s mother represent believer, Captain Dan represent suspicious men, Jenny represent rebel. Maybe destiny is like that feather, which has no concrete direction ,and the ordinary experience tired us. However, any turning is controlled by themselves freely, there‟s one thing you must do ─ do your best.
