The glove puppet shows

The glove puppetry is a type of opera using cloth puppets that originated during the 17th century in Quanzhou or Zhangzhou of China’s fujian province, and historically practised in Quanzhou,Zhangzhou, the Guangdong region of Chaoshan, and other parts of southern China.the puppet’s head uses wood carved into the shape of a hollow human head, but aside from the head,palm,and feet ,which are made of wood, the puppet’s torso and limbs consist entirely of cloth costumes.At the time of the performance, a gloved hand enters the puppet’s costume and makes it perform.In previous years the puppets used in this type of performance strongly resembled”cloth sacks”,hence the name,which literally means “cloth bag opera”.

Glove puppetry performances, simiar to some type of Chinese opera, are divided into a first half and a second half show. During the first half,known as the “show platform”,the audience is shown a demonstration by a master puppeteer on the stage. The second half consists of the puppet master, the orchestra, and spoken parts.Several key points of a show to be appreciated include:r

漳州布袋木偶戏又称“景戏”、“指花戏”、“掌中戏”，傀儡戏剧种之一。漳州布袋木偶戏是由木偶表演、剧漳州布袋木偶戏布袋木偶戏目、音乐、木偶制作、服装、道具、布景等组合而成的一种综合性艺术，集各艺术门类的特点，丰富、修饰、体现布袋木偶戏的内涵。从宋朝开始，布袋木偶戏已经生存了上千年，它以淳朴的艺术风格，灵巧的操纵技艺，生动的木偶造型，在国内外艺坛上享有很高的声誉。今天的《唐风宋韵》就向您介绍这一历史悠久的掌上艺术--布袋木偶戏。

木偶戏是中国一种古老的民间艺术，它具有强烈的民族风格和浓郁的生活气息，是中国乡土艺术的瑰宝。中国的布袋木偶戏木偶戏汉朝时期就在民间出现，到了唐宋时代，木偶戏进入全盛时期，出现了多种多样的表演形式。如今，在中国的广大农村，尤其是逢年过节时，木偶戏仍然是主要的观赏娱乐项目之一。

现代木偶戏的品种主要有提线木偶戏、杖头木偶戏和布袋木偶戏三种。布袋木偶戏因为演出使用的木偶，除了头、手掌和脚的下半部以外，手部和腿部都是用布缝制而成的，形状酷似布袋，所以被称为"布袋木偶戏"。布袋木偶戏的表演，主要是用手指活动来操作的，所以又被称为"掌中戏"。和提线木偶、杖头木偶两种木偶戏相比，布袋木偶戏中木偶的动作更加节奏明快，迅捷有力。在漳州木偶剧团，团长吴光亮边示范边向我们讲解布袋木偶戏的具体操作："一般象这种布袋木偶的表演，一个人可以同时演两个木偶，左手一个右手一个。木偶头套在食指上，是表演头部的，另外三个指头是套一个手，大拇指套另外一个手，大拇指同样还要管头部的一些

转动。腿的动作基本上也是靠手去操作。我们手掌的腕就是木偶的腰部，手的上臂就形成了一个木偶表演的很完整的造型，现在一个脚要动起来，走路这么一抬这么一抬。"

传统的布袋木偶戏根据表演的乐调、词调与戏路划分，可以分为南、北两种不同的流派，它们之间主要的区别在于音乐唱腔和表演风格上。南派盛行于泉州地区，唱的是南调，也就是傀儡调，表演上采用梨园戏做派；而漳州的布袋戏则归属于北派，唱的是北调，如昆腔、京调等，表演上采用的是京戏做派。现如今，随着布袋戏的不断发展和文化的不断融合，南北两派的界限已经越来越不明显了。

现在的漳州人提起对布袋木偶戏的普遍印象，已经不再是过去搬张小板凳到庙口搭设的木制彩楼下，引颈翘首看着演员们拿着手掌般大小的布袋戏偶，上演着三国演义等传统剧目。如今的布袋木偶戏，不仅题材更加宽广，形式也更加多样。
