WARM-UP:
a)T: Before we go to a new lesson, I want to one of you to read the first
paragraph.
STAGE 1: PRESENTATION
a)NEW WORDS AND EXPRESSIONS:
To the …of : indicates the position out of one certain place.
In the …of: indicates the position in one certain place.
On the …of: indicates the position on the boundary of two places.
stand for :代表，象征。
Used to be : 曾经有，过去常有。
Be about to: 将要干某事（注意不可用表示时间的词语）
STAGE 2: practice
Put these students into three groups and then race these questions each other.
See which group will get the highest score.
Rules: At first, I say the Chinese meaning and students answer it in English as soon as possible. First come, first served! If one group can not answer these questions, another group can answer.

Wales lies to the west of England.

e.g.: Shanghai lies in the east of china

Guangdong lies in the south of china

e.g.: Korea lies on the east of china

(5)Stand for:
The sign X stands for an unknown number.
符号X代表一个未知数
Each star of the flag of the United States stands for a state of the nation.
美国国旗上的每一颗星代表该国的一个洲
(6)used to :
he used to drink beer now he drinks wine
他过去常喝啤酒现在他喝葡萄酒
He is not what he used to be.
他已不是旧日的他了。
(7) Be about to:
Don’t go out now we are about to have lunch
不要出去了马上要吃午饭了
Hurry up! They are about to start
