第32课Shopping made easy

1、Shopping made easy.

完整句子应该是Shopping is made easy.

2、The temptation to steal is greater than ever before especially in large shops.

to steal 不定式形式修饰temptation

resist the temptation 抵制诱惑力

than ever before 比以往任何时候

3、One Monday, there were fewer people in the shop than usual when the woman came

in, so it was easier for the detective to watch her.

one Monday 有一天，用了one ，前面不加任何介词

此句中两处用到了比较级，fewer people...than usual, easier.

watch 此句中的意思是监视，watch 还有其它意思：

Who's going to watch the baby? 照看

Watch out! 当心

4、She handed it to an assistant who wrapped it up for her as quickly as possible.

hand 此句意思是递过去，hand sth. to sb. 把某物递给某人

hand in 交上来，上交

hand over 移交

hand down 传递下去

as quickly as possible 以尽快的速度

as soon as possible 尽早

5、Then the woman simply took the parcel and walked out of the shop without paying.

simply 起强调语气的作用

6、The detective found out that the shop assistant was her daughter.

find out 发现，查明

7、People are not so honest as they once were.

not so......as......不如什么

1、Frank Hawkins was telling me about his experiences as a young man.

as a young man 作为年轻人，as 是介词，作为

tell sb. about sth. 对某人讲某事

2、As a boy he used to work in a small shop.

as a boy 此句中as 的用法跟上句的用法一样

used to 过去常常做某事

3、It was his job to repair bicycles.

it 是形式主语，指代后面的不定式短语to repair bicycles.

4、He saved money for years.

save 此句中是积攒的意思。

save money 攒钱，也可以说save up

5、He bought a small workshop of his own.

of one's own 属于自己的

6、In his twenties Frank used to make spare parts for aeroplanes.

in his twenties 20多岁的时候

in his early thirties 30岁刚出头

in his late fifties 尽60岁的时候

7、Frank smiled when he remembered his hard early years and the long road to success.

remember 此句中是回忆的意思，相当于recall

8、过去进行时，表示过去在某一时间段或某一段时间内正在发生或进行的动作。

过去进行时结构：was/were + 动词ing 形式

He was still smiling when the door opened and his wife came in.
