It was established in the fall of 1896 as an affiliate of the British Red Cross Society. Volunteers are the heart of the Canadian Red Cross. Over 25,000 Red Cross volunteers give their time and passion to help others every day.

One of her most unique memories during her 30-year volunteer experience includes delivering meals in a raging snowstorm. The streets were empty as the city was crippled by a massive snowstorm. The icy streets and the lack of public transport made life tough for people there. It seemed that everything halted with the bad weather. Although Meals on Wheels had been canceled, the determined volunteer delivered the meals to her clients successfully.
Anne’s enthusiasm and devotion to her volunteering is appreciated by everyone around her, and she plans on volunteering for as long as she can. “It truly makes my life richer.” she says.
