1.Suzanne Marie Collins is an American television writer and novelist,
she has written The “New York Times”, “The Underland Chronicles”and “The Hunger Games trilogy”,which include “The Hunger Games”,“Catching Fire”,and “Mockingjay”.
2.In the nation known as Panem, a shining Capitol is surrounded by
twelve outlying districts. The capitol is cruel and keeps the districts under control by forcing them to send a boy and a girl between the age of twelve and eighteen to participate in the annual Hunger Games, a fight to the death on live TV, which all of the Capitol citizens watch for entertainment. Katniss Everdeen regards it as a death sentence when she takes her sister’s place in the Games. But survival is Katniss’s second nature. In order to survive, she must start to make choices between humanity and life.
3.Katniss Everdeen, the main character, is brave and resourceful.,She is
brave because she took her sisters place in the Games which is a death sentence to herself. Katniss also hunted for her family everyday and saved them from starvation. Katnissis resourceful because she knew exactly what plants to use as medicine, and what plants that cannot be eaten, and also recognized the Game makers’(the people who design the games)motives when they sent fire to the arena.
4.Collins said ,”The Hunger Games”was partly inspired by the Greek
myth of Theseus and the Minotaur. When Collins was still a child, she has already felt the myth’s cruel. Another inspiration was her father is
a air force, which gave her insight to poverty, starvation, and the effects
of war.
5.The Hunger Games has an excellent use of language and literary
devices; such as similes, metaphors, and personification. The author Suzanne Collins used a great example of metaphor: the woods became our savior. It shows that the woods is important to Katniss survival. 6.I think that “The Hunger Games”is trying to express how Panem is
like ...the real world. Some people live perfect lives, like the Capitol citizens, while others suffer. Some people overpower other others really easy, like the Capitol overpowering the districts. The book is showing another version of the real world, and showing through this, the unfairness of the world around us.。
