Ⅰ.语法填空

Number 1 in Chinese Culture

Number 1 is the simplest number, but has __1__ most complex cultural meaning in Chinese culture. 6．neither句意：在中国文化中，它既不是吉祥的也不是不吉祥的。根据本句中的nor 可知设空处填neither。neither ... nor ...为固定结构，意为“既不……也不……”。

7．combination设空处在句中作主语，故用名词形式；再根据本句中谓语动词has 可推知本空需填名词单数形式。故设空处填combination。

8．Its设空处需用形容词性物主代词its作pronunciation的定语。

9．lovers根据常识及between可知设空处填名词复数形式lovers。

10．simply设空处需用副词作means的状语，故填simply。

(2018·江西八所重点中学联考)Last night I was at a coffee shop. There was a wonderfully music show. As I got up to get a cup of coffee and a cookie, I notice a middle-aged woman near me. Clearly, she had caught in a fire of some kind. His face was so badly burned that she looked very tight. I thought about how brave she was to come out but appeared in public. When I returned back to my seat, I turned towards the woman and said, “Isn't he a wonderful performers？”And I gave her the largest smile I was able to give. To my pleased, she looked right at me and gave me a huge smile for return. It was her smile which made her whole face light up last night. She was beautiful.
