•History of the Unicorn Symbol
• The unicorn is a legendary animal from European folklore that resembles a white horse with a large, pointed, spiraling horn projecting from its forehead, and sometimes a goat's beard and cloven hooves. First mentioned by the ancient Greeks, it became the most important imaginary animal of the Middle Ages and Renaissance when it was commonly described as an extremely wild woodland creature, a symbol of purity and grace, which could only be captured by a virgin. Unicorn horns are said to be harder than diamonds and to be able to neutralize poisons.
2. Why do you think she doesn't get upset when its horn is broken off?
• Because she take it as ―a blessing in disguise‖. In that situation, with Jim’s encourage and attention, she feels she and Jim fall in love with each other, she believes she will overlook her cripple and act as a common people.
• Fourth, broken unicorn symbolizes the Laura’s broken love and her imaginary world.
