The company reported fiscal 2014 revenue of $16.4 billion, making Starbucks the second highest-selling U.S. chain restaurant behind McDonald’s. 3) Chipotle Chipotle is a fast-casual restaurant chain serving tacos, burritos and salads. The company was formed as a spinoff from McDonald’s with a 2006 initial public offering (IPO). Chipotle operates 1,850 locations in the U.S., Canada, the United Kingdom, Germany and France, none of which are franchised. The company has a higher price point than its fast food competitors and offers superior quality food. Chipotle reported 2014 revenue of $1.07 billion. 7) Burger King Burger King started in 1954 and is headquartered in Miami, Florida. As of November 2014, Burger King had over 14,000 locations in over 100 countries, with roughly 11 million daily visitors worldwide. Nearly all of those locations are owned by independent franchisees.
