Unfortunately, Florida does not have reciprocity with other states. Therefore, the MBE score will not transfer to other states.

Exceptions:



If another state’s bar exam is taken CONCURRENTLY, then the MBE score will transfer. (NJ, Mass—exams that are Wednesday/Thursday. Remember, Florida is Tuesday/Wednesday. MBE is Wednesday across the nation.) Washington, DC—can opt in to DC with an MBE score of at least 133 and state bar passage. Minnesota—145 MBE score (submit application and fees) Michigan—150 MBE score (submit application and fees)

WHEN IS THE BAR EXAM?

LAST TUESDAY AND WEDNESDAY IN JULY AND FEBRUARY (TWICE A YEAR)
TUESDAY— Devoted to State Law consisting of 3 essays from 9am-12pm and 100 multiple choice questions on state law from 1pm-4pm


WEDNESDAY— Devoted to the MBE (Multistate Bar Examination) Always on Wednesdays across the nation.

***Any extra points above the 136 minimum threshold carry over to the other side. For example, let’s say you score a 140 on the Multistate (MBE) and a 133 on the state portion. You passed the Multistate (MBE) and you failed the Florida portion. However, those 4 extra points from the MBE carry over to the state side and you pass the entire bar. Believe it or not, there are plenty of practicing, licensed attorneys in Florida that actually failed half the bar exam.

For Florida—100 points for each essay with an average score of 50-55 points per essay. 3 sets of 30 multiple choice questions with an average score of 16-18 points per section. Total of 390 points on FL essays and MC questions. Formula which then equates to X number out of 200. Need 136 to pass.
