端午节,中秋节

1.端午节可以追溯(date back to)到公元前227年的战国时代(Warring States Period)。这个节

日是为了纪念(commemorate)楚国的大夫屈原，他因为对朝廷(court)的贪污腐败(corruption)感到绝望(despair)而投河自尽。后来大家把米撒到水里，希望把饥饿的鱼群从他的躯体边引开。多年以后，屈原的故事逐渐演(evolve into)变成赛龙舟和吃粽子的传统。端午节正值初夏, 各种害虫和疾病开始流行(spread).因此.人们在门上挂上草药(herbs),喝特别调治(concoct)的雄黄酒,孩子们佩带香囊(fragrant sachets). 据说这些能驱虫避病(protect from, prevent from, drive off),带来平安的日子

The Dragon Boat Festival dates back to 227BC in the Warring States Period.The festival is specially held to commemorate the minister of Kingdom Chu named QuYuan.He committed suicide by drowning himself in the river because he felt despaired of the corruption of the court.

Then people began to throw rice into the water ,hoping to drive the hungry fish away from his body.As time went by,the story of Qu Yuan gradually evolved into the tration of dragon boat racing and eating dumplings.The Dragon Boat Festival comes in early summer when harmful insects and diseases begin to spread.As a result,people hang herbs on the wall,drink especially concocted Xionghuang Wine.And children wear fragrant sachets.It is said all these are done to drive off harmful insects ,protect us from disease and bring peaceful days.

2.每年的农历(lunar calendar)八月十五是中国人的传统节日中秋. 中秋节对中国人来说意

味着家人的团聚(family reunion)和对亲人的思念. 中秋节源自(originate from, be traced back )古代中国人对月亮的崇拜，中国人将生活的变迁（vicissitude）与月亮形状的变化联系在一起，认为圆圆的满月象征着团圆和幸福。早在(as early as)唐代就有了固定的仪式(ceremony)来表达对月亮的崇拜(worship). 这种崇拜逐渐演变(evolve into)成了今天的中秋节. 中秋的传统食品是月饼, 制作的材料各种各样, 包括豆沙(bean paste), 果仁(fruit seeds), 肉糜(mince), 蛋黄等(yolk). 在中秋节的晚上, 全家要一起吃团圆饭(family

reunion feast). 饭后, 一起品尝月饼赏月.
