My View on the Postgraduate Craze

There is a growing tendency nowadays that undergraduates in growin g numbers take the postgraduate entrance examination（研究生考试）. taking a look around, we can find numerous examples with ease: some students reject （拒绝）the chance of working for a prestigious company （知名公司）but continue to pursue a master degree. While s till others resign from their current position and then go back to school, they regarded the pursuit of a master degree as an indispensible par t of their education and even a chance to change their life.

What is to account for their enthusiasm for a postgraduate diploma? Firstly, it is the demand of knowledge. In an age of knowledge and information explosion(知识和信息爆炸时代), what you have learned in college can hardly keep pace with（与…同步）the growing deman d（日益增长的需求）in society. Talents who are equipped with （有）the latest knowledge and skills are highly needed than ever before. Sec ondly, it is well-know that the more education you have, the more

likely you are to succeed（你受到的教育越多，成功的可能性就越大）. Compared with those without a master degree, masters will enjoy more preferential treatment（优先待遇）, for example, better salaries, mor e opportunities for promotion and training. A postgraduate degree can g uarantee a more promising（有希望的）career.

As far as I am concerned, this trend is reasonable and understandable（合理的，能理解的）. with the graduation of a larger number of college students, compet ition for jobs becomes increasingly fierce. One way to gain more advantage ove r others is to acquire a higher degree. Therefore, no wonder millions of students c onsider pursuing a postgraduate degree as necessary（必需品）.

In recent years, social network sites like Renren and Kaixin have rapidly gained popu larity among all kinds of people. Many people spend a lot of time on those sites chatting, making friends and playing games. Those sites have become a part of their life.

The public hold different views on this phenomenon. Some are in favor of those site s for they provide many opportunities to know other people and to know what’s happenin g in the world. Besides, they’re very convenient to access. One can use a computer or ce ll phone to log on at home, in a restaurant, or even in the subway.
