Part of what we take pride in as Americans is that almost uniquely to any country around the world...we were started on the basis of an idea.

A set of ideas about liberty and justice and equality that all men were created equal, that we are a nation not of men but of laws...a nation in which, if you are willing to try, then you can make it.

That it doesn't matter where you were born or what color your skin is or what religion you practice. That you are able to say what you please and write what you please and worship as you please.

Those principles have led all the world to look to us as a beacon, as a shining example of what can happen when people from all walks of life come together around a set of common principles and common values.

And that is our most powerful export. That's the message we need to be delivering to the world.

That America's ready to lead again, and yes, we will lead militarily and we will hunt down terrorists, but we will also lead in caring for the environment and making sure that we're stopping global warming. We're also gonna lead in creating the new technologies that ensure energy independence. We're also going to lead in helping other countries create the kinds of education systems that give them opportunity. We're also gonna lead in upholding human rights and civil rights, and that's why it's right that we restore habeas corpus and we close Guantanamo.

We send a message to the world that we stand for something here even when we're threatened, even when it's hard!

I stand before you as the son of ordinary folks. My grandparents grew up in a small town in Kansas. My mother was a single mom, my father, who was from Kenya, left when we were very young so I didn't know him...I was raised by a single mom. We didn't have a lot of money. We didn't have a lot of power. But there are a couple of things they passed on to me.

They passed on love, they passed on an education, they passed on a sense of hope, they passed on a love of country. And I know that there is no other country on earth where I could be standing before you as somebody who could potentially be the next President of the United States of America.

And my journey is not unique. It's the story that each and every one of you and your families carry with you.

That because of our work and our toil and our sacrifice, somehow we are able to create a country that's more prosperous and more united for the next generation.

That despite all the things that might divide us, that we come together as one.

Black, white, Hispanic, Asian, Native American, young, old, rich, poor, urban, rural… all of us coming together beneath this flag, insisting that we are gonna create a better America, insisting that we are gonna live out the promise of those who founded this country so long ago.

Montanans, I'm proud to be with you on the fourth of July.

idency of the United States.

I am proud of you, the American people, because you are standing up and insisting on change and if you will stand with me and march with me and walk with me and vote, then I promise you that just about 4 months from now - just about 4 months from now, we will have won Montana. -Yeah!

We will have won the general election, and you and I together, we are gonna change this country, and we are gonna change the world.

我们向世界传递了一个信息：即使我们受到威胁，即使时局艰难，我们依然会坚持我们的原则。

站 在你们面前的我是一个普通人的儿子。我的祖父是在堪萨斯的一个小镇长大的。我的母亲是一个单身母亲。我那来自肯尼亚的父亲在我很小的时候就离开了，所以我 不认识他。我是由一个单身母亲抚养成人的。我们没有很多钱。我们没有很多权势。但是他们（译者：不清楚指什么，猜想为美国人民）却给了我几样东西。

他们给了我爱，他们给了我受教育的权利，他们给了我希望，他们给了我对这个国家的爱。并且，我知道在这个世界上再没有一个国家能让我，以可能成为下一任美利坚合众国总统的身份站在你们面前。

并非只有我有如此的经历。你们每一个人以及你们的家人都有这样的故事。

正是由于我们的工作、奋斗和牺牲，使我们能够以某种方式为下

一代创造一个更加繁荣、更加团结的国家。

尽管有许多事情可能分裂我们，但我们仍然团结一心。

黑人、白人、西班牙裔、亚裔、土著美国人、年轻人、老年人、富人、穷人、城里人、乡下人……所有我们大家在这面旗帜下团结在一起，坚信我们将创造一个更完美的美国，坚信我们将实现很久以前建立这个国家的人们的承诺。
