Wall Street was thrown a lifeline recently from an unexpected quarter, just when accumulating sub-prime losses andconcerns about credit were threatening it.In December last year China’s largest state-controlled investment vehicle, the newly created China Sovereign Wealth Funds –China’s Arms-Length ApproachThe Mainland’s sovereign wealth funds will continue to expand, reports Don Gasper. But far from being a threat to other economies, this is a golden opportunity for overseas asset managers.Investment Corporation (CIC, paid US$5 billion for a 9.9% stake in US bank Morgan Stanley after the latter posted a larger than expected loss in the fiscal fourth quarter. In January similar sovereign wealth funds (SWFs from other countries stepped in with a combinedPhoto by: Sophia TsibikakiUS$21.1 billion to bail out the largest bank in the USA, Citigroup, and the largest brokerage in the world, Merrill Lynch, after both also reported heavy fourth-quarter losses.Former US secretary of the treasury Lawrence Summers said in Davos that month that SWFs needed to become more transparent and he expressed his fear that such funds might be in a position to exert undue political pressure on their hosts.Others, however, say that SWFs are no different from other investors and simply want to find the best return for their investment.“Most of these SWFs are just like pension funds,” says Bank Sarassin’s chief investment officer, Burkhard Varnholt. “It has been a great blessing to the world economy that they have been around i n the last few months.”China’s SWFs are indeed explicitly intended to fund the country’s future pension liabilities and strengthen its banks as well as to diversify its foreign exchange holdings.“CIC’s purpose is to achieve reasonable, long-term returns and also to improve the corporate governance of domestic banks,’’ CIC Chairman Lou Jiwei told a conference in Beijing last November.“CIC w ants t o b e a s tabilising f orce i n t he i nternational capital markets,’’ Lou said, adding that the fund’s focus would be on traded securities in international markets with only a small part in “alternative” investments.Rapid Increase in Scale of Chinese FundsGeorge Hongchoy, managing director of DBS Asia Capital Ltd, anticipates a rapid increase in the scale of C hina’s SWFs, saying that the country could increase the size of CIC to over US$1 trillion if it makes available more of its steadily expanding foreign exchange reserves.Towards the end of last year China’s policy makers decided to allow the renminbi rise against the US dollar more quickly than many had expected. At roughly the same time, in September, they elected to create a new agency, CIC, modelled on Singapore’s Temasek Holdings and the Government of Singapore Investment Corporation (GIC, to diversify the country’s foreign exchange reserves. The CIC was created in response to the challenge that a US$1.6 trillion plus sterilised foreign exchange surplus was losing money every day, due to the decline of the US dollar. Given the near certainty of renminbi appreciation over the next two years,China could no longer afford to leave its foreign currency reserves in low-yielding instruments. But the State Administration of Foreign Exchange could have done the job. There was also Central Huijin Investment, a state-sponsored bank reconstruction agency. So why create a new body?“In our view, there are two reasons,” argues a new report issued in Shanghai in April on the funding, asset growth, strategies and preferences of China’s SWFs. The report was put out by Z-Ben Advisors Ltd, a company providing in-depth research reports and consultancy services on China’s investment and fund industry to foreign financial institutions and third-party providers.“First, by having CIC assume responsibility over Central Huijin Inv estment, the government gave CIC a unity of purpose domestically and internationally: Make money by being a passive, minority investor (not the asset-gobbling monster it has – errantly - been made out to be.“Second, CIC could achieve levels of transparenc y in its investment, reporting and strategy that, for a government agency, would either have been impossible or simply not believed by outsiders.”Western countries are paying high attention to CIC’s actions, given China’s growing economic and political influence, Hongchoy says. Considering lessons learned from other SWFs, CIC tends to be more cautious about making overseas investments.“There have been concerns voiced, particularly in the USA, over the lack of transparency of SWFs and over their agenda being allegedly set by politics rather than economic motives. Another criticism has been that they make judgments on the basis of short-term results for what are long-term investments. Finally, there has been concern as to when they dispose of their holdings, especially if there are significant capital gains.”So far, he notes, given the existence of tremendous investment opportunities in China itself, CIC has been making a vast amount of investments domestically, a pattern that differs from SWFs in other countries.More Overseas Investment Likely –But At Arm’s LengthHowever, following its injection of US$ 67 billion into the Agricultural Bank of China and the China Development Bank, CIC has essentially run out of domestic assets capable of soaking up the large sums it is entrusted with. More overseas investment is therefore probable, but China is likely to do this in a way that avoids the headlines.Hongchoy thinks that it is likely to follow the model set by Norway’s Global Pension Fund, whereby external managers are used, shielding SWFs from protectionist measures and accusations of market manipulation. “We believe CIC will likely outsource some of its funds to overseas asset managers for portfolio investment in equities,” he says.It will continue also to make investments in private equity houses, like Blackstone Group, through which it can invest in a wide range of businesses indirectly. CIC made headlines in June last year when it paid US$3 billion for a 9.9% stake in Blackstone. However it took no seat on its board. The Z-Ben Advisors report takes a similar view. China “will now strongly prefer, unless compelling bargains are offered in countries which welcome Chinese investment, to put its money to work at arm’s length: specifically, through third-party m andates,” it argues, forecasting a substantial increase in the volume of assets that Chinese SWFs will place in the hands of third-party asset managers by 2010.By that year, it says, the country’s SWFs, as a group, will be the world’s third-largest users of third-party mandate managers, behind only Japan’s National Pension Fund (US$740 billion in external mandates and the Abu Dhabi Investment Council (US$680 billion in external mandates in total assets invested.Over US$320 billion in new assets will be allocated by the end of that year to foreign third-party mandate managers by China’s SWFs, including the major ones – CIC, the National Council for Social Security Fund (NCSSF and the China-Africa Development Fund (CADFund, the report predicts. In what is pe rhaps its most surprising prediction, the report says that CIC’s assets under management (AUM will rise from US$200 billion at present to US$625 billion by the end of 2010. More than 70% of the new funds are projected to be assigned to more than 100 third-party foreign managers.NCSSF’s AUM are expected to grow from US$72 billion now to US$104 billion by the same time. Over 40% of those new funds are predicted to be allocated to third-party foreign managers.China’s S WFs w ill s pend t he n ext 30 m onths fi nishing the seeding phase of their long-term investments, says the report: More than 120 new mandate managers will be selected by the end of 2010 with mandates ranging from US$0.5 billion to US$6.0 billion.Regarding exposure to foreign securities, the report says that China’s SWFs intend to increase dramatically their exposure to foreign securities, from less than 14% of current assets to more than 49% by the end of 2010.“China not only needs to diversify its foreign exchange reserves and fund its futu re pension liabilities through investment, it needs to accomplish these tasks at some speed,” says Peter Alexander, Z-Ben Advisors’ Principal. “Investing directly in global companies is only a small part of their overall strategy: The largest proportion of their funds will be invested with professional asset managers.“Asset management companies need to be aware of the speed at which these mandates will be assigned in the next 30 months than are likely to be granted in thesubsequent five years. Chinese SWFs intend to put their near-term seed money – in total, more than US$630 billion by end-2010 – to work and their unambiguous preference will be for managers who are prepared to work quickly.”So for those interested, now’s the time to apply!主權財富基金–中國採取中庸之道內地主權財富基金的規模將繼續擴大。

T his year’s government work report proposed to strengthen the service guarantee forforeign investment and builda brand of “Invest in China”. Recently, the General Office of the State Council issued the Action Plan for SteadilyPromoting High-level Opening-up and Mak ing Greater Efforts to Attract andUtilize Foreign Investment, which madespecific arrangements for building the brand of “Invest in China”. “Invest in China” has become one of the key words for stabilizing foreign investment in 2024.Recently, the first “Invest In ChinaSummit 2024” (hereinafter referred to as the Summit), co-sponsored by the Ministry of Commerce and the Beijing Municipal Government, was held in Beijing. More than 140 executives from multinational companies and representatives of foreign business associations in China from 17 countries and regions participated in the Summit.China remains the biggest engine of global development“China, as the world’s secondlargest economy, has formed a good and stable fundamental in its long-term development and still remains the biggest engine of global development. At present, the continuous release of China’s market potential will create more business opportunities for foreign enterprises. The continuous improvement of the industrial system will provide reliable support for the stable operation of the world economy. The continuous optimization of the business environment will also provide better protection for foreign enterprises,” Han Zheng, Vice President of the People’s Republic of China, said at the Summit.Han Zheng also said that buildingthe brand of “Invest in China” is not only an important measure for China to expand its high-level opening-up and By Liu Xinwei“Investing in China is to Invest in the Future ”actively integrate into the international cycle, but is also a practical action to actively promote economic globalization and promote the stable and smooth supply chain of the global industrial chain, thus sincerely welcoming more foreign business friends to invest in China. For many participating enterprises, Han Zheng pointed out that the enterprises present have already been deeply involved in the Chinese market for a long time, and has thus already contributed to China’s reform and opening up and shared the dividends of China’s economic development. China will unswervingly expand its high-level opening-up to the world, and will continue to build a market-oriented, rule-of-law and international first-class business environment to create better conditions for enterprises from all countries to develop in China. At present, China attaches great importance to attracting and utilizing foreign investment, and constantly creates a good policy environment for consolidating the confidence of foreign enterprises in developing in China. This signal was given again at this Summit. In response to the concerns of foreign enterprises, the Ministry of Commerce announced a series of measures to stabilize foreign investment at the Summit, involving expansion, stable stock and quality improvement. Specifically, it included: with a higher level of opening-up, continuing to reduce the negative list of foreign investment access, increasing the catalogue of encouraged foreign investment industries, and using “one reduction and one increase” to make more foreign investment “willing to come” and “able to come in”; stabilizing the stock with a better service, running the monthly round table meeting of foreign enterprises, and promoting the solution of problems of concern to foreign enterprises; and improving the quality with more precise policies, increasing the support of investment policies in R&D centers, advanced manufacturing, green and low carbon, digital economy and other fields, and creating favorable conditions for foreign investment to participate in the development of new quality productivity in China.“The Ministry of Commerce will be a good ‘scavenger’, cleaning up the problem of hidden barriers, increasing the protection of intellectual property rights, and allowing foreign investors to enter and operate here,” Ling Ji, Vice Minister and Deputy Representative of International Trade Negotiations of Ministry of Commerce, said.According to data from the Ministry of Commerce, in 2023, there were more than 50,000 newly established foreign-invested enterprises nationwide, a year-on-year increase of 39.7%. The actual amount of foreign investment used exceeded RMB 1 trillion, and the scale is still at a historical high. In the first two months of this year, 7160 foreign-invested enterprises were newly established nationwide, up 34.9% year-on-year, reaching the highest level seen in the past five years.“On the whole, multinational companies are still full of confidence in investing in China. Choosing China is to choose opportunities. Investing in China means investing in the future. The Ministry of Commerce will, as always, welcome enterprises from all over the world to invest in China and share the dividends of China’s high-quality development,” He Yadong, Spokesman of the Ministry of Commerce, said recently. At present, inf luenced by the superposition of multiple risks such as unilateralism, the rise of protectionism and inf lation, the instability and uncertainty that the world is facing are obviously enhanced. In a complex environment, China is fully integrated20into the global industrial chain, and at the same time, it shares its development opportunities with the rest of the world. This not only injects a steady forward force into the global economy, promoting the development of the open world economy, but also provides a fast lane for the development of foreign enterprises. The series of activities allows investors to enter China and learn about ChinaThe brand activity of “Invest in China” aims to create favorable conditions for investors from all over the world to enter China, get to know China and invest in China. It is reported that a greater series of activities are in full swing and will be launched one after another. For example, the China International Import Expo (CIIE), as a big platform for two-way opening, acts as a window for investors from all over the world to learn about China and a bridge into China. On April 1-3, the Ministry of Commerce and the Chongqing Municipal Government jointly held the activity of “Deepening the Double Circulation of Imported Services” for the CIIE to Chongqing. He Yadong introduced the idea that this is the first activity for the CIIE to use to enter the local area this year, and it is also an important part of the brand activity of “Invest in China”. This activity expands the scope of participatingenterprises, and based on Chongqing’slocation advantages, resource endowmentsand industrial characteristics, CIIEexhibitors, investment promotionagencies and multinational companieswere all invited to participate. At thesame time, the activities will be enriched.Activities, such as round tables offoreign enterprises, economic and tradeinvestment promotion conferences andspecial industry investment matchmakingmeetings, will be held to further unleashthe CIIE spillover effect, better promote“exhibits become commodities andexhibitors become investors”, and helpwith the construction of the twin-city economic circle in the Chengdu-Chongqing area.In order to better build the brandof “Invest in China”, in 2024, theMinistry of Commerce will promote thecombination of “going out” and “pleasecome in”, by holding more than 20boutique activities at home and abroadand a series of activities such as “the CIIEenters the local area” and local themedpromotion in various places.“We welcome multinationalcompanies to actively participate in the‘Invest in China’ brand activities, take awalk around China and have a look, andexperience the colorful scenes of Chinesemodernization. We will also actively ‘goout’ to hold overseas activities and takethe initiative to introduce China’s resourceendowment, industrial base and businessenvironment. I hope that investors fromall countries will continue to chooseChina, take root in China and share thehigh-quality development dividends ofChina,” He Yadong said.According to Zhou Mi, a researcherat the Chinese Academy of InternationalTrade and Economic Cooperation, thelaunch of the “Invest in China” series ofactivities and the implementation of morepolicies to stabilize foreign investmenthave not only improved the conveniencefor foreign enterprises to invest in China, but have also conveyed a clear messagethat China needs and welcomes foreigninvestment to participate in the high-quality development of China, and hopesthat more high-quality foreign-fundedprojects will arrive in China.A survey conducted by Ernst &Y oung, a third-party investment promotionservice organization, also confirmsthis view. Cai Weinian, tax managingpartner of Ernst & Young in NorthChina, said: “From Ernst & Young’sunderstanding of the investment intentionof multinational companies, China’sposition as an investment destinationis irreplaceable, regardless of whetherit is involved in rebuilding the supplychain or participating in the researchand development of the most advancedtechnology.”21。

If there is a road to China’s future, Highway 204 out of Shanghai is it. Along its two dusty lanes, local trucks and buses jockey with Cadillacs driven by financiers from Taiwan and Hong Kong investors. Migrant workers crowd the narrow shoulders. Factories line the highway, producing sneakers, toys, plastics, clothes, aircraft components and medical equipment. Eventually industry gives way to ricefields, which is being dug up to build still more factories. Cranes turn overhead as dump trucks and cement mixers nose onto the road. Outside the town of Jiading, one tractor-trailer leaves Asia’s largest container plant every three minutes, carrying goods bound for the Shanghai docks. The traffic on Highway 204 is so thick that the trip from Shanghai to Zhangjiagang –only 115 kilometers away –takes five hours.如果有一条通向中国未来的路,那就是穿越上海的204国道。

写一封关于中国抗日英雄的英文作文全文共6篇示例,供读者参考篇1A Letter About Chinese Heroes Who Fought Against JapanDear Teacher,For our writing assignment this week, I chose to write about some really brave and awesome Chinese heroes who fought against the Japanese when they invaded China. I think their stories are super important for everyone to know!First, I want to tell you about the Flying Tigers. They were a group of American pilots who helped defend China from Japanese air attacks before America even joined World War 2. Their real name was the 1st American Volunteer Group (AVG). Pretty cool, right? The leader of the Flying Tigers was a guy named Claire Lee Chennault. He had been an officer in the U.S. Army Air Corps but then retired. In 1937, he went to China to help train their air force pilots. When fighting started between China and Japan in 1937,Chennault knew China needed better fighter planes and tactics to beat Japan's powerful air force. So in 1941, Chennault got permission from President Roosevelt to recruit American pilots and mechanics to fly and service 100 P-40 Tomahawk fighters bought by China. Pilots from the U.S., Britain and even a few Chinese-Americans joined up. On December 20, 1941, just a couple weeks after Pearl Harbor, the Flying Tigers had their first aerial combat over Kunming, shooting down 9 Japanese bombers!Over the next 7 months, the Flying Tigers — who had really awesome shark mouth paintings on their planes — destroyed 299 Japanese planes while only losing 14 of their own. They disrupted Japanese bombing raids and protected the eastward retreat of China's air force. Hollywood even made a movie about them in 1942!Another amazing Chinese hero was Deng Xiaoping. I know, he later became the leader of China, but when he was young he fought the Japanese too. In 1924, when he was just 20 years old, Deng joined the Communist Party of China. In 1929, he helped organize and lead an armed uprising against warlords in Guangdong. Then in 1935, Deng became one of the top military leaders in the Red Army during the famous Long March, when they had to walk 6,000 miles to escape the anti-Communist armies trying to wipe them out. On the Long March, Deng helped set up schools to teach reading and writing to Red Army soldiers. After the Long March ended in 1936, Deng became a major leader in the Red Army's fight against Japanese invaders. In 1938, his military skills protecting supply lines on the battlefield were super impressive. Later he negotiated alliances between the Communists and Nationalists to unite their forces against Japan. Deng fought against Japan until their surrender in 1945.Of course, I have to mention the legendary So篇2My Hero Who Fought Against the Bad Japanese InvadersToday I want to tell you about my biggest hero, a man named Ye Ting. He was a brave soldier who fought against the evil Japanese when they invaded China in World War 2. The Japanese were very mean bullies who tried to take over our country, but Ye Ting and other courageous Chinese soldiers wouldn't let them!Ye Ting was born in 1899 in Yunnan Province in southwestern China. His parents were farmers who worked very hard in the fields every day. When Ye Ting was 8 years old, he had to start helping out on the farm too because his family didn't have much money. He didn't get to go to school like we do today. In 1927, when Ye Ting was 28 years old, he joined the military to fight against the warlords who were causing trouble in China at that time. Ye Ting was a great soldier and he worked his way up to becoming a platoon commander. His bravery in battle made him pretty famous! Then in 1937, the big bad Japanese imperial army invaded China again. This was awful! The Japanese soldiers terrorized innocent Chinese people, killing many and destroying homes and villages. Their cruelty made me so mad and sad when I learned about it in history class.Ye Ting immediately wanted to help defend his homeland against the Japanese bullies. He joined the Eighth Route Army, which was the military force fighting against Japanese occupation. Over the next 8 years, Ye Ting led many battles and risky undercover operations against the Japanese invaders. One of his most famous missions was called the "Huaihai Campaign" in 1948. Ye Ting helped plan this massive pincer movement, where two allied forces trapped over half a million Japanese soldiers between them. The Japanese army was soundly defeated after months of intense fighting. Ye Ting was a mastermind behind this huge victory over our enemies!Another story about Ye Ting that I admire is how he would go undercover and sneak behind enemy lines. He dressed up as a peasant farmer and pretended to be deaf and mute so the Japanese soldiers wouldn't suspect he was a spy. This allowed Ye Ting to gather lots of valuable intelligence about the enemy's plans and movements. He was really smart and brave!Through years of fighting the ruthless Japanese imperialists, Ye Ting rose to become a famous general celebrated across China. His strategies and battlefield leadership helped turn the tide of World War 2 in China. We were finally able to push out the Japanese invaders in 1945 when they surrendered after getting bombs dropped on them. After the war against Japan ended, Ye Ting kept fighting against other forces trying to take over China. He played an important role in the eventual Communist revolution that established modern China. For his lifetime of amazing militaryachievements and protecting our country, Ye Ting got many medals and honors. He is considered one of the greatestanti-Japanese war heroes in Chinese history. What I admire most about Ye Ting is how devoted he was to defending China from cruel invaders and bullies, no matter how tough the battle. He never gave up and used clever strategies and tricks like going undercover to outsmart the enemy. Ye Ting was willing to risk his life over and over to fight for the freedom of our homeland. He showed true patriotism, bravery and excellence as a military leader. Ye Ting inspired his soldiers to fight hard and never surrender against overwhelming odds. His brilliant tactics like the Huaihai pincer movement allowed the Chinese to win major victories over the powerful Japanese imperial army that invaded our country.Ye Ting remained a humble but determined person despite becoming such a famous war hero. After the wars ended, he just went back to being a farmer like his parents before him. But the whole nation of China will always remember and be grateful to Ye Ting and his sacrifices to defend our freedom and push out the evil Japanese occupiers. That's why he is my biggest hero!I hope you learned something new about this amazing Chinese war hero today. We should all aspire to have the courage, dedication and problem-solving skills that Ye Ting showed when our country needed him most. The next time a bully tries to push you around, you can be brave like Ye Ting and stand up for what's right! Thanks for reading my essay. Ye Ting is my idol and I want to grow up to be as heroic as him someday.篇3My Essay About Chinese Heroes Who Fought Against JapanHi everybody! Today I want to tell you about some of the bravest people in Chinese history - the heroes who fought against the Japanese invaders during World War II. My teacher says it's important to learn about their stories so we never forget the sacrifices they made for our country.First, I want to talk about the Flying Tigers. They were a group of American pilots who came to help China fight Japan before America even joined World War II. Their leader was a man named Claire Lee Chennault. He trained the Flying Tigers to use special tactics to take on the more powerful Japanese air force. From 1941 to 1942, the Flying Tigers shot down almost 300 Japanese planes! They became legendary heroes in China.Another really famous hero was a woman named Qiu Shaoyun. She was a spy who helped the Communist resistance fight the Japanese. Qiu pretended to be a beggar to sneak past the enemy lines and gather intel. Once, she was captured by Japanese soldiers. Even after being brutally tortured for several days, she refused to give up any information! The Japanese eventually executed her, but she died a martyr protecting China's secrets. Then there were the students at Xu Guangrui Memorial. In 1939, Japanese planes bombed their school, killing many kids. After that awful attack, the students decided to strike back. They joined the resistance and used guerilla tactics like hit-and-run raids and sabotage to fight the Japanese. Some were as young as 13 years old! The bravery of those student soldiers was incredible.A really interesting hero was Xie Jinyuan. He was born in Malaysia but came back to fight for China after the Japanese invaded. Xie was an amazing fighter who used just a six-shooter revolver to single-handedly halt an entire regiment of Japanese troops! One time he leaped onto a moving train and wiped out 20 enemy soldiers all by himself. The Japanese were so impressed they called him the "Majin" or Demon Soldier. But of course, the most famous Chinese war hero was Ren Zhengfei. He was a general who led the heroic defense of the Huai'Hai campaign in 1948 and 1949. His brilliant tactics allowed the outnumbered and outgunned Chinese forces to utterly crush over half a million Japanese invaders! It was one of the biggest victories of the war and showed the Japanese could be beaten. There were so many other unsung heroes too - people like Liu Zhidan who assassinated a cruel Japanese governor, or Wang Erxian who wiped out hundreds of enemy troops with explosives, or Hong Xuezhi who poisoned over 10,000 Japanese soldiers. Ordinary Chinese citizens risked everything to protect their homeland. When I read about these amazing heroes, it makes me proud to be Chinese. They had such bravery and patriotism in their hearts. If Japan had conquered China, we might have lost our freedom, our culture, everything. But these courageous men and women never gave up fighting for our country, no matter how hopeless things seemed. Thanks to their sacrifices, the Japanese were finally driven out of China after eight long years of bitter fighting. Over 14 million Chinese civilians died resisting the invasion, along withmillions more soldiers. But their suffering and resistance showed the world that China could never be conquered. So that's why we have to honor the anti-Japanese war heroes and always remember their legacy. They represented the best values of our nation - resilience, strength, defiance against oppression. Their struggle reminds us that as long as we never give up, China will always endure.Thank you for reading my essay! I tried my best to explain why these heroes were so important to our history. They truly were the greatest of the great for defending China from one of its darkest hours. We should feel grateful for their service and keep their spirit alive in our hearts forever.篇4My Hero: The Brave Soldier Yang JingyuHi everyone! Today I want to tell you about my hero, Yang Jingyu. He was a really brave soldier who fought against the Japanese when they invaded China. Let me tell you his amazing story!Yang Jingyu was born in 1920 in Sichuan Province. When he was a kid, he was really good at martial arts and could do allkinds of flips and kicks. His parents were very proud of their little kung fu master! In 1937, everything changed. The Japanese imperial army invaded China and started hurting innocent people. Yang saw this with his own eyes when Japanese troops came to his village. The terrible soldiers killed his father right in front of him! Can you imagine how scary that must have been? Poor Yang was only 17 years old.Yang was so angry about what happened to his dad that he decided to join the Chinese resistance against the Japanese. He was a real patriot who loved his country. He trained to become a skilled soldier and sniper. His job was to hide and then shoot at the enemy from far away with his trusty rifle.Over the next few years, Yang went on many dangerous missions. He was brave and clever, sneaking behind Japanese lines. It's said that he could hold his breath for a super long time and move around without making a single sound - like a ninja! The Japanese called him the "Devil Sniper" because he was such a amazing shooter. Yang felt proud being called this because it meant he was really good at his job protecting China. One of Yang's most famous battles was in 1941 near the town of Zhengzhou. The Japanese had brought in a lot ofreinforcements to try to crush the Chinese resistance in that area. But Yang and his buddies weren't giving up that easy! For over three months, they fought off wave after wave of enemy attacks. Yang was a sniper legend, taking out over 100 Japanese soldiers all by himself with his excellent marksmanship! Finally, the Japanese brought in artillery and bombers to try to blast Yang's unit out of their defensive positions. It was a brutal fight. During one bombing run, a huge explosive shell landed right next to Yang. It blew off his left arm and mangled his face terribly. His injuries were so horrible that the other soldiers thought for sure he wouldn't make it.But Yang was tougher than nails! Although he was in immense pain, he kept crawling and dragging himself with his remaining arm. He refused to give up or let his injuries stop him. Thanks to his incredible willpower, Yang was able to rejoin his unit after recovering slightly in a field hospital. From then on, he fought with just one arm and his face all messed up from the shrapnel wounds. But he didn't care about his looks or his missing limb, only defending China mattered. When the war ended in 1945 after the Japanese surrender, Yang was hailed as a national hero. He had been awarded so many medals for his bravery that he jangled when he walked! The whole country was in awe of the one-armed sniper who had taken out over 300 enemy soldiers all by himself during his years of service. What an amazing feat!Later on, Yang lived a simple life as a farmer after the war. But the memories of his heroism made him a legend for generations of young Chinese people to look up to. He showed that with enough courage, smarts, and love for your country, one person can make a huge difference. Yang proved you don't have to be a big tough guy to be a hero - just a brave heart willing to sacrifice everything for the greater good.Yang Jingyu passed away in 1983, but his example lives on. To me, he is the perfect role model. He was an ordinary person who did extraordinary things because he wasn't afraid to fight for what was right. Yang will always be my hero and I hope his story inspires you guys as much as it does me! The end.篇5A Real Life Hero: The Bravery of Yang KyoungjongHeroes are people who do amazing things to help others, even if it is very hard or dangerous for them. My favorite hero from history is a man named Yang Kyoungjong who foughtagainst the Japanese when they invaded China before World War II.Yang Kyoungjong was born in 1920 in Korea, which was occupied by Japan at that time. Even though he was just a kid, he joined the Korean Liberation Army when he was only 14 years old to fight against the Japanese rulers of his country. He was so brave! After training to be a soldier, Yang went on many missions against the Japanese military. He would sneak behind enemy lines and plant bombs to blow up their trains, supply lines, and weapon stockpiles. This helped weaken the Japanese forces. He was like a ninja warrior! In 1940, the Japanese caught Yang and put him in prison. They tortured him badly by ripping out his fingernails, burning him with hot irons, and beating him up. But Yang never gave up any information about his fellow Korean fighters or the resistance movement. He was as tough as a grizzly bear! The Japanese decided to execute Yang by firing squad for his anti-Japanese activities. But on the morning he was to be killed, Korean independence activists launched a surprise attack on the prison. In the chaos, Yang seized a Japanese soldier's rifle andmowed down his executioners before they could shoot him! It was like an action movie scene.Yang then went on the run, living in the wilderness and continuing his guerrilla raids against the Japanese occupation forces in Korea and China. He was hunted by thousands of Japanese troops, but they could never catch the clever and elusive "Wolf ofSakalang," as he came to be known. After World War II ended in 1945, Yang returned to his homeland as a war hero. He had been fighting for Korean liberation since he was just a young teenage boy. So many people looked up to him for his courage, perseverance, and willingness to sacrifice everything in the struggle for freedom from篇6A Real-Life Superhero: The Brave Story of General Luo RonghuanHi everyone! Today I want to tell you about one of my biggest heroes, General Luo Ronghuan. He was a real-life superhero who fought against the evil Japanese invaders during World War II to protect China. Get ready for an amazing true story! When I was little, I loved reading comics about superheroes like Superman, Batman and Captain America. They always used their awesome powers and gadgets to beat up the bad guys and save innocent people. Little did I know that China had its own real-life superhero living amongst us - General Luo Ronghuan!General Luo was born in 1902 in Sichuan Province. As a young man, he joined the Kuomintang army and quickly rose through the ranks because of his courage and brilliant military mind. In 1937, the nightmare began when Japanese troops invaded China. Rather than surrendering, General Luo knew he had to protect his homeland at all costs. For eight long years, General Luo led his brave soldiers to fight against the Japanese in many bloody battles across China. Unlike the comic book villains who were clearly evil, the Japanese invaders truly believed that China belonged to them. So our hero Luo had to use his wits to outwit a powerful and determined foe.One of General Luo's most famous victories took place in 1939 during the Battle of Nanchang. Although the Japanese army had more troops and weapons, Luo deployed guerilla tactics to ambush and outsmart them at every turn. Can you imagine hiding in the wilderness, setting up traps and stagingsurprise attacks just like in the movies? That's exactly what Luo's forces did!Against all odds, General Luo's outnumbered and outgunned army managed to defeat the Japanese in Nanchang after 4 months of fighting. This unexpected victory became a huge morale booster for all Chinese people and showed that the invaders could be beaten. General Luo was praised as a military genius! However, the celebrations didn't last long as the war raged on. Often lacking basic supplies like food and medicine, Luo and his soldiers had to endure great hardships while fighting off the Japanese aggressors. Talk about making sacrifices for your country! When people were losing hope, General Luo helped rally China's resistance through his brilliant strategies and leadership skills. Using lightning-fast guerilla attacks and then swiftly retreating before the Japanese could retaliate, he constantly outsmarted the enemy through his crafty tactics. In my imagination, I picture General Luo as a real-life superhero straight out of the comic books - fearlessly leading his troops from the frontlines, dodging enemy bullets while yellingorders, and staying strong no matter how tough things got. He was a true hero who never gave up!Finally in 1945, the Japanese surrendered after the atomic bombs were dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Thanks to the incredible efforts of brave soldiers like Luo Ronghuan, China was finally free from invasion after a nightmare struggle that cost over 20 million Chinese lives. After achieving victory, you'd think the superhero would get a well-deserved break. But no, General Luo went on to fight against other threats to China's security over the following years. He truly dedicated his entire life to serving and protecting his nation.Up until his death in 1994 at age 92, Luo Ronghuan was celebrated as a legendary war hero who personified Chinese patriotism and resistance against oppression. Just like Superman or Captain America, his extraordinary courage and brilliance defending the helpless was simply awe-inspiring.While I still enjoy reading about fictional superheroes, learning about real life heroes like General Luo has been even more amazing. His story showed me that regular people are capable of incredible acts of bravery and heroism, even against overwhelming odds. Luo used his mind instead of superpowersto outwit the enemy and protect China through sheer grit and determination.General Luo's legacy reminded me that heroes don't need capes, x-ray vision or high-tech gadgets. Sometimes, a brave heart and brilliant military mind is enough to change the course of history. For fearlessly defending his country against invasion, General Luo Ronghuan will forever be remembered as China's real-life superhero!。

Re -ceiving considerable attention, the Asian security concept as put forward by Chinese leaders has been interpreted repeatedly. Highlighting the importance of development of regional secu-rity, this security management principle is China’s commitment after the country’s 30-year rapid development. However, the new Cold War mentality characterized by military alliances attempts to challenge China’s Asian security concept, and further agitate the dispute centered on Asia-Pacific security.Never before associated with China in political, economic and cultural exchanges to such a large degree, ASEAN countries will choose wisely. The Asian security concept is a profound conclusion of Asia’s historical experience as well as a fine expectation of its future development that has gained extensive recognition in the region.Of course, this concept’s char-acteristics include a regional se-curity mechanism characterized by a multilateral dialogue, and a dialogue framework of “Asian affairs decided by Asian people.” Agitators will not disappear; neither will the U.S. completely leave East Asia and Southeast Asia to their own devices. But one thing remains clear – countries in these regions will not stake their own safety and development.China NewsweekIssue No. 23, published June 30, 20141984: Choice of the NationDuring his meeting with a foreign delegation on October 11, 1984 Deng Xiaoping said, “China cannot isolate itself from the world in its development. The opening-up and reform policy will, therefore, remain unchanged through to the first half of the next century. Will there be change in the latter half of the next century? I don’t think so, as it will be even less possible to change course. By that time, we will have built numerous interconnections with the global economy over 70 years. Can this be changed? Absolutely not.”He made the comment on the eve of the Third Plenary Session of the 12th CPC Central Commit-tee, which adopted the Decision on Economic Structure Reform. The country since shifted to a market economy. This transformation was well received by the public. In the same year a group of young economists held a conference at Mt Mogan in Zhejiang Province that led to a pricing reform. Today, many of the partici-pants of the Mt Mogan meet-ing are at the helm of China’s economic policies. The nation is now poised for a new round of reforms. The 1984 series rolled out reforms from the countryside to cities, while the current one intends to cover all aspects of Chinese soci-ety, hence becoming the largest, deepest and most difficult to implement so far.South ReviewsIssue No. 14, published July 2, 2014Marriage on Thin IceSigns of married life are all around us; even if we choose to be single, we can’t avoid the age-old institution. There are varying attitudes towards marriage – pain or desire, love or hate, happiness or misery, anxiety or joy. Therefore, matri-mony influences, even decides, our destinies to some extent. Married family life is also the fundamental unit that consti-tutes society. Thus, the fate of marriage could reflect the fate of society in a certain way. On June 17, 2014, the Min-istry of Civil Affairs of China issued the 2013 Statistical Bul -letin of Social Service Develop-ment. Figures show that 3.5 million couples legally divorced in China last year. The divorce rate has risen significantly. To a great extent, marriage is the result of “social choice.” Specifically, social problems can chip away at the domestic affairs of each family and push marriages in a downward spiral to collapse. The high divorce rate in China shows that our society has entered an era of accelerated “internal collapse.” It is difficult to remedy social factors affecting marriage be-cause they may relate to staple aspects such as politics, law, economy and ethics.CaijingIssue No. 18, published June 30, 2014Solving the SOE Reform ConundrumThe decision on “major issues concerning comprehensively deepening reforms” adopted at the third plenary session of the 18th CPC Central Committee states that China will improve the nation’s asset management system, strengthen state assets oversight with capital manage-ment at the core, and reform the authorized operation mechanism for state capital. This marks a methodologi-cal shift in state policy towards state-owned enterprises (SOE), from asset management tocapital management. China now views state assets as dynamic capital, opening the door to fresh reform of SOEs.Execution of the new policy is underway. Several leading SOEs in monopoly industries such as petroleum and electricity have rolled out plans and programs for mixed ownership reform. This ardor, however, should not blind us to the fact that top policymakers are yet to come up with a detailed plan for SOE reforms. And it remains vague how far the reform can go with different kinds of SOEs. In addi-tion to ownership diversification, policy support is also needed for professional and market-based management of SOEs.“Let the market play a deci-sive role in resource allocation,” the Decision declared. China group's eye on Yahoo fuels privacy fears

STORY HIGHLIGHTS
∙Jack Ma, founder of Chinese internet group Alibaba, is interested in buying Yahoo
∙The possibility of Yahoo falling under Chinese control raises privacy risks for its users
∙Alibaba denied that any data held outside China would be reviewed by Chinese authorities
(Financial Times) -- The possibility of Yahoo falling under Chinese control raises significant privacy risks for its users elsewhere and could provoke a backlash in Washington, privacy campaigners and other China-watchers in the US have warned.
The warnings follow a comment by Jack Ma, founder of Chinese internet group Alibaba, that he is interested in acquiring the troubled US online media and communications concern. Mr Ma has a first right of refusal to buy back Yahoo's 40 per cent stake in Alibaba should the US company itself change
hands, putting Mr Ma in an strong position to influence Yahoo's ultimate fate following its decision to reconsider its strategic options.
"Lawmakers should oppose a deal where the data of Americans come under the control of a foreign company with links to the Chinese government," said Jeff Chester, head of the Center for Digital Democracy. "Instead of stealthfully spying on Google users, which Chinese officials have been alleged to have done, an Alibaba takeover of Yahoo would sanction the surveillance of millions of Americans."
The claims were immediately rejected by Alibaba, which denied that any data held outside China would be subject to review by Chinese authorities.
"We've demonstrated consistently that we follow the laws in the countries in which we do business," Alibaba said. "As such, there's no reason to believe
that Yahoo's data would be treated any differently following a change in control."
Rebecca McKinnon, a senior fellow at the New America Foundation, said that any attempt by Alibaba to buy Yahoo was likely to be "highly controversial", given the negative reaction in Congress last year when Chinese equipment maker Huawei attempted to become a supplier to Sprint, the US telecoms company.
"Will people who use Yahoo email feel comfortable using a service owned by a Chinese company, knowing that in China all internet companies are expected to share information about user identities and activities on request?" she said. In a close parallel, US regulators had taken a close look at Deutsche Telekom's purchase of a US wireless carrier, making it likely they would also study a Chinese acquisition of a big online communications firm, said Marc Rotenberg, head of the Electronic Privacy Information Center.
The rapid increase in the amount of data held by US internet concerns had made possible foreign acquisitions more of a concern, Mr Rotenberg added. "That is one of the scenarios that has long been of concern with respect to Google's enormous data aggregation."。
