The very best in women’s golf are coming back to battle it out for the sought-after ‘Champion of Champions’ title and an increased prize purse of US$1.4 million at the fourth edition of the HSBC Women’s Champions. The event continues to stake its claim as one of the top events on the women’s Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) calendar.

Taking place from 24to 27 February 2011 at the Tanah Merah Country Club, players qualify for the tournament known as ‘Asia’s Major’ by winning tournaments on the LPGA Tour or finishing the year before in the Top 20 on the Rolex Women's World Golf Rankings.

The 2010 HSBC Women’s Champions, won by Japan’s Ai Miyazato, attracted the strongest field ever seen in Asia, with the top 55 players from the 2009 LPGA Official Money List in the field.

Miyazato has already confirmed that she will return to defend her title and we can expect to see the likes of superstars Jiyai Shin, Michelle Wie and Paula Creamer challenging for top honours in the tournament.

One playing spot available under the Host Country’s Invite and is open to all female Singaporean golfers who meet the qualification criteria.

1. QUALIFIER ROUND INFORMATION

Venue: Tanah Merah Country Club, Garden Course (Off Championship tees)

Date: January 26 – 27, 2011

Time: 0700 hrs – 1500 hrs

2. ELIGIBILITY

All entrants must be Singapore Citizens

All female Singaporean professionals or amateur golfers with a handicap of 2.0 or less as of 12th Jan 2011 under the handicapping scheme adopted by the recognized authority controlling golf in the country which they elect to enter

3. CONDITIONS

The qualifier for the Host Country Invite for the 2011 HSBC Women’s Champions will be played over 36 holes at Tanah Merah Country Club, Garden Course. The player who returns with the lowest gross score will be invited to play in the HSBC Women’s Champions under a Host Country Invite.

In the event of a tie for first place in the HSBC Women’s Qualifier Round, the tie shall be settled by a sudden-death play off. In the event that a play off is not possible or impractical for a play off, the TMCC countback system shall apply. Ties for all other places shall be decided by the TMCC count-back system.

The qualifier will run in accordance with the Rules of Golf as specified by the Royal & Ancient Golf Club of St. Andrews, any additional local rules implemented by the HSBC Women’s Champions Organizing Committee and the Singapore Ladies Golf Association.

DEADLINE

4. ENTRY

The closing date for entry is on 12. 01. 2011. All entry forms must be duly certified by the Captain or the Secretary of the competitor’s home club or by an authorized official of the Golf Association in the country where the competitor resides. A copy of the handicap card for amateurs or a copy of the membership card/confirmation letter from the professional golf association for professional golfers must be submitted with the entry form as well. Players are to submit the duly signed entry form to IMG.
