1. Hey , Zhao Feng , wait up ! 嘿，赵峰，请稍等！

wait up在文中表示“请稍等，等一下”的意思，是美国口语的一种表达方式。wait up 还可表示“不睡觉等候”。

eg.

My mother waited up for me until I finished my homework .

我妈妈一直不睡觉直到我完成作业。

I shall be home very late tonight , so don’t wait up（for me）.

我今天晚上很晚才回家，不必熬夜等我。

2. I’ll s rat stamp of 1996 for your Brussels stamps .

我用这张1996年的老鼠邮票来与你交换你的布鲁塞尔邮票。

swap的意思是“交换”，过去式与过去分词形式为s，常用结构为s. for sth.“用此物交换彼物”或s. with sb“与某人交换某物”。

eg.

Your book looks more interesting than mine . Do you want to s me ?

你的书看起来比我的更有趣。你想和我换换吗？

I s three of my foreign stamps for her ancient stamp .

我用我的三枚外国邮票换了她古老的邮票。

Since I liked her dress and she liked mine , we s our dress（with each other）.

Jim was scolded by the teacher because he s his seat with Mary .

另外，swap还可用作名词，表示“交换，交流，交易”。

eg.

I’m sure we can come up with some kind of a swap .

Indeed , it was an unfair swap , but he accepted without .

come up with表示“想出”或“找出”，（既可以相当于“find out”，又可以相当于“think out”）

eg.

After two days’ thought , I camp u p with an idea to solve the problem .

At last , Jim came up with the answer to the teacher’s question .

最后，吉姆找出了老师问题的答案。

The government has come up with many suggestions to protect the environment .

4. Many didn’t ha ve enough money for food , let alone buy toys for their children .

let alone表示“更不用说”

eg.

She will not help her own brother , let alone a stranger .

她连自己的弟弟都不肯帮助，更不用说一个陌生人了。

I can’t offer to rent a house , let alone buy it .

我连一套房子都租不起，更不用说买下它了。

Nobody is willing to talk with her , let alone make friends with her .

没有人愿意和她讲话，更别提和她交朋友了。

另外：let … alone = leave … alone = let … be

意思是“不去打扰/ 理会/ 惹……”

eg .

L et him be , he’s doing no harm .别管他，他并没有恶意。

男孩们会把瓶盖堆积在路上

pile up表示

（1）vt. 积聚；积攒；堆起

eg.

Her hair had been piled up on top of her head . 她的头发盘到了头顶上。

（2）vi积聚

The papers she was meant to be reading piled up untouched on her desk .

她该读的那些文件堆在她的写字台上。

My work is piling up . 我的工作越积越多。

His debts are piling up and he has no money to pay them . 他债台高筑已无力偿还。

6. They picked up those that turned over and kept them .

他们把翻了个儿的瓶盖拾起来归自己。

（1）pick up表示“拾起，捡起”，还可以表示“接（某人）”

eg.

He picked up a wallet and handed it to the teacher . 他捡到了一个钱包，把它交给了老师。He drove his car and picked up his wife and son . 他开车接他的妻子和儿子。

（2）turn over表示“翻身，翻转”

eg.

He couldn’t sleep well last night and he turned over and over in his bed .

他昨夜睡不好觉，在床上辗转反侧。

Turn over or your back will get sunburnt .

翻一下身，不然你的后背会被太阳晒伤的。

7. You say it , and I’m sure someone , some where collects it .

你只要说得出一样东西，就一定会有人在什么地方收集它。

name此处为一个动词，表示“说出名字，举出，提出”

eg.

Can you name all the presidents of the United States ? 你能说出所有美国总统的名字吗？
