(1)I prefer coffee to tea.

2. ever since = since 自从(主句常与现在完成时连用)
(1)介词:This country has gone through many wars since 1940. (2)连词:They’ve got on well with each other since they settled here.(3)副词:He joined the army last year. He hasn’t gone home ever since. (4)自从去年高中毕业(graduate from ...)他们就没有再见过面。

3. persuade sb to do sth = persuade sb into doing sth 说服…去做…persuade sb not to do sth = persuade sb out of doing sth 说服..不去做(1)不要试图说服他改变主意(change one’s mind),他很顽固。

4. be fond of sb/ sth: like sth 回顾:be crazy about (1)即使他有很多缺点,我们还是喜欢他。

5. care about sth: 关心;在乎

care for sth/sb : 喜欢(be fond of); 照顾(look after; take care of)(1)I don’t care for your attitude.
(2)尽管他现在很忙,他还是照常(as usual)照顾他的老母亲。

6. be determined to do sth: 下定了决心去…(强调状态)
(1)We are determined to find out who is more reliable.
(2)这位大学毕业生(graduate)下定了决心要找到一份好工作。

7. make one’s mind (not) to do sth: 下决心…; give in to…向…屈服(1)她已下定决心,不向困难屈服。

(2)一旦(once)他下定了决心,没人能说服他改变主意。

8. view: (1)风景(常指可以从某处看到的景色);观点/见解(idea ) (1)We have a good view of the stage from our seats.
in one’s view=in one’s opinion=as far as one is concerned:在…看来(2)在我看来,没有人能真正预测(forecast)未来。
