However, we have not found life on any other planets yet.The earth is a planet and it goes around the sun. Seven other planets also go around the sun. None of them has an environment like that of the earth, so scientists do not think they will find life on them. The sun and its planets are called the solar system, and our solar system is a small part of a much larger group of stars and planets, called the Galaxy or the Milky Way. There are billions of stars in the Galaxy, and our sun is only one of them.Scientists have also discovered many other galaxies in the universe. They are very far away and their light has to travel for many years to reach us. So how large is the universe? It is impossible to imagine.Scientists have sent spaceships to the planet of Mars to take photos. They have even sent spaceships to travel outside the solar system. However, no spaceship has travelled far enough to reach other stars in our Galaxy.Scientists have always asked the questions: with so many stars in the universe, are we alone, or is there life out there in space? Have there been visitors to the earth from other planets? Why has no one communicated with us? We do not know the answers…yet.Module 4Unit 1 I haven't done much exercise since I got my computer.3 Listen and read.Doctor:How can I help you?Darning: I feel ill. We came out without making any noise, and found it was just a hungry monkey looking for food. This morning, we climbed Mount Tianzi! From the top we hoped to see the lakes and forests. Decide who is in the photo.A beautiful smileWhen I was thirteen years old, a girl gave me an important gift. It was a smile. It was the early autumn of my first year at a new school. No one knew me. I was very lonely, and afraid to make friends with anyone.Every time I heard the other students talking and laughing, I felt even more lonely. I could not talk to anyone about my problem, and I did not want my parents to worry about me.One day, my classmates were talk with their friends, but I sat in silence. At that moment, a girl entered the classroom. I did not know who she was. She passed me and then turned back. She looked at me and, without a word, smiled.Suddenly, I felt the touch of something bright and friendly. It made me feel happy, lively and warm. It was like a hidden treasure. That smile changed my life. I started talk with the other students. Day by day, I learnt to trust people, and they included me in their circle of friends. The girl with the bright smile has become my best friend now, and we stick together like glue. One day, I asked her why she smiled at me that day. She said she could not remember! Now I believe that the world is what you think it is. If you think you are lonely, you might always be alone. My suggestion is: smile at the world and it will smile back.Module 10Unit 1 I hope that you can join us one day. 803 Listen and read.Chen Huan: Hi, everybody. I'm the news director at Radio Beijing.Lingling: Thank you for showing us around.Chen Huan: No problem! Now, come this way. Look at the red light. When it's on, it means we're on air. It gets crazy in here just before the programme begins.Lingling: How can I become a presenter?Chen Huan: I think you need to speak English really well. So keep studying, and I hope that you can join us one day.Tony: What about the sports news?Chen Huan: That's over there. And it is where we do interviews with big stars of sports. Let's watch the presenter. Remember, I said you need to keep quiet if the red light is on.Presenter: Finally, we've just heard that Germany has won the football match, 2-1 against England.Lingling:Hey! That's great news!Tony:No, it's awful news! All: Ssh!Presenter:…And that's the end of the six o'clock news.Unit 2 It seemed that they were speaking to me in person. p822 Read the passage and decide where you are likely to see the photo.Radio times“How old are you? The radio manager looked down at me.“Fifteen,”I said.“And you want a job in radio? Shouldn't you be at school?”he asked. How could I explain? I have always loved the radio. I still remember, when I was four years old, I sat close to the radio in the living room, listening to my favourite programmes and to the voices of my favourite presenters. It seemed that they were speaking not to lots of listeners but to me in person. At the age of nine, I asked for part-time jobs in small radio stations. As I grew older, my interest in radio grew. One day I learnt about Internet radio. Once a week, I played my favourite music from my father's computer, talked about life at school, and hoped someone might be listening.Soon my friends at school started to listen, and then they wanted to help. We prepared a programme once a week, doing research on articles about music, sports news, jokes and the weather report (I did this by looking out of the window). “OK, come with me,”the manager said. I sat down in the studio. He was in another room, behind a glass wall.“OK, let's do a sound check. Just tell me what you had for breakfast.”All radio presenters need to answer the same question before they begin work. The purpose is to check the sound level.“I had eggs, fruit and some milk.”“OK, that's great!”the man behind the glass said. This was how my first real job in radio began.。

It’s a magic land of mountains, forests and rivers. It's very large, about 480 square kilometres. It’s famous for the strange shape of its tall rocks. Some ofthem look like humans, and others look like wild animals.Last night we camped by a small lake. During the night, we heard some noise! It woke everyone up. We thought somebody was moving about. Lingling's uncle said it was an animal. We came out without making any noise, and found it was just a hungry monkey looking for food. This morning, we climbed Mount Tianzi! From the top we hoped to see the lakes and forests. But it was a pity that it was cloudy. We could only see the mountain tops above the clouds. Then we walked down the path, along a river, past trees and other plants and back to the camp. I pulled a leaf off a plant, but Lingling’s uncle said that it was wron g to pull leaves off plants and that we should protect everything here. I was very sorry.T omorrow we’re going to Dongting Lake, the second largest freshwater lake in China. We’ll to back home next week! Wish you were here!Love,BettyM9 U1Helpline: Hello, friendship helpline. Who's calling, please?Lingling: Hello. This is Lingling speaking.Helpline: Hi, Lingling! I was so happy at first. But she's so different.Helpline: Can you tell me how she's different?Lingling: She doesn't like me to see my other friends.Helpline: Could I ask if you've mentioned this to her?Lingling: Yes, but she refused to listen.Helpline: OK, do you know why she treats you like that?Lingling: No. I don't know.Helpline: Maybe she doesn't feel very sure of herself in her new school.Lingling: Maybe.Helpline: She probably feels lonely without you. I'm sure she regrets hurting you. So be patient with her and explain to her that she can make friends with your other friends too. Try to introduce her to them.Lingling: I see. I'll encourage her to join in more. Thanks.Helpline: No problem, Lingling. You're welcome.U2A beautiful smileBy Zhang BeiWhen I was thirteen years old, a girl gave me an important gift. It was a smile. It was the early autumn of my first year at a new school. No one knew me. I was very lonely, and afraid to make friends with anyone.Every time I heard the other students talking and laughing, I felt even more lonely. I could not talk to anyone about my problem, and I did not want my parents to worry about me.One day, my classmates are talking with their friends, but I sat in silence. At that moment, a girl entered the classroom. I did not know who she was. She passed me and then turned back. She looked at me and, without a word, smiled.Suddenly, I felt the touch of something bright and friendly. It made me feel happy, livelyand warm. It was like a hidden treasure. That smile changed my life. I started to talk with the other students. My suggestion is: Smile at the world and it will smile back.M10 Chen Huan: Hi, everybody. I'm the news director at Radio Beijing.Lingling: Thank you for showing us around.Chen Huan: No problem! Now, come this way. Look at the red light. When it's on, it means we're on air. And we should avoid making any noise in the background.T ony: OK.Chen Huan: This is the newsroom. We collect the latest national and international news and write reports here. It gets crazy in here just before the programme begins. Lingling: How can I become a presenter?Chen Huan: I think you need to speak English well. So keep studying, and I hope you can join us one day.T ony: What about the sports news?Chen Huan: That’s over there. And it is where we do interviews with big stars of sports. Let’s watch the presenter. Remember, I said you need to keep quite if the red light is on. Presenter: Finally, we've just heard that Germany has won the football match,2–1 against England.Lingling: Hey! That's great news!T ony: No, it's awful news! All: Ssh!Presenter: ... And that’s the end of the six o’clock news.Radio times“How old are you?” the radio studio manager looked down at me.“Fifteen,” I said.“And you want a job in radio? Shouldn’t you be at school?” he asked. How could I explain? I’ve always loved the radio. I still remember, When I was about four years old, I sat close to the radio in the living room, listening to my favourite programmes, and to the voices of my favourite presenters. It seemed that they were speaking not to lots of listeners but to me in person. At the age of nine, I asked for part–time jobs in small radio stations. As I grew older, my interest in radio grew. One day I learnt about Internet radio. Once a week, I played my favourite music from my father’s computer, talked about life at school, and hoped someone might be listening.Soon my friends at school started to listen, and then they wanted to help. We prepared a programmes once a week, doing research on articles about music, sports news, jokes and the weather report (I did this by looking out of the window).“OK, come with me,” the manager said. I sat down in the studio. He was in another room, behind a glass wall.“OK, let’s do a sound check. Just tell me what you had for breakfast.”All radio presenters need to answer the same question before they begin work. The purpose is to check the sound level.“I had eggs, fruit and some milk.”“OK, that’s great!” T he man behind the glass said. And this was how my first real job in radio began.。

It’s a magic land of mountains, forests and rivers. It’s very large, about 480 square kilometres. It’s famous for the strange shape of its tall rocks. Some of them look like humans while others look like wild animals.Last night we camped by a small lake. During the night, we heard some noise! It woke everybody up. We thought somebody was moving about. Lingling’s uncle said it was an animal. We came out without making any noise, and found it was just a hungry monkey looking for food. This morning, we climbed Mount Tianzi! From the top we hoped to see the lakes and forests. But it was a pity that it was cloudy. We could only see the mountain tops above the clouds. Then we walked down the path, along a river, past trees and other plants and back to the camp, I pulled a leaf off a plant, but Lingling’s uncle said that it was wrong to pull leaves off plants and that we should protect everything here. I was very sorry.Tomorrow we’re going to Dong ting Lake, the second largest freshwater lake in China. We’ll be back home next week! The radio manager looked down at me.“Fifteen,” I said.“And you want a job in radio? Shouldn’t you be at school?” he asked. How could I explain? I have always loved the radio. I still remember, when I was four years old, I sat close to the radio in the living room, listening to my favourite programmes and to the voices of my favourite presenters. It seemed that they were speaking not to lots of listeners but to me in person. At the age of nine, I asked for part-time jobs in small radio stations. As I grew older, my interest in radio grew. One day I learnt about Internet radio. Once a week, I played myfavourite music from my father’s computer, talked about life at school, and hoped someone might be listening.Soon my friends at school started to listen, and then they wanted to help. We prepared a programme once a week, doing research on articles about music, sports news, jokes and the weather report (I did this by looking out of the window).“OK, come with me,” the manager said. I sat down in the studio. He was in another room, behind a glass wall. “OK, let’s do a sound check. Just tell me what you had for breakfast.”All radio presenters need to answer the same question before they begin work. The purpose is to check the sound level.“I had eggs, fruit and some milk.”“OK, that’s great!” the man behind the glass said. This was how my first real job in radio began.。

It may save your life. This is the surprising advice of a British cook. One day Henry Jackson was working in a restaurant kitchen. He picked up a dish from the table, and suddenly a snake appeared ... and bit him on the hand.A few days earlier, the snake came to the restaurant from Asia in a box of bananas. It climbed out of the box and hid under the dish."I went to try to pick it up and it bit me again. I threw it across the kitchen, and it landed in the fridge. So I closed the door," Mr Jackson said.Anyway, Mr Jackson stayed cool and he took a photo of the snake with his mobile phone. Soon his hand began to ache and he went to hospital. Then his chest began to hurt. Doctors couldn't say what was wrong because they didn't know what kind of snake it was. Then Mr Jackson remembered his mobile phone photo. The doctors sent it to London Zoo. When they knew the kind of snake, they could give Mr Jackson the right medicine, and he left hospital the next day."So my advice is this: If a snake bites you, pick up your phone. Take its photo first and then show the photo to the doctors," suggests Mr Jackson. "Oh, and if the snake doesn't smile for its photo, don't worry!"八下M5 P36Dear Diana,Do you have a problem? Write to Diana at New Standard Magazine, and ask for her advice.Last week, my friend Da Wei brought a new computer game and asked to play it on my father's computer. But my father has warned me not to use his computer for playing games because he uses it for his job. I can only use it for my homework. He thinks that if I play games on it, it'll go wrong.Well, my dad was out, so we decided to try Da Wei's game. We copied it onto the computer and when we finished, we took it off the computer. We made quite sure my father didn't notice anything. But when my dad used the computer last night, he was really angry. The computer wasn't working because it had a virus! But I didn't tell him about the computer game. Now I feel terrible. It's going to be expensive to mend it. Should I tell him about the computer game? Should I offer to pay?Yours,3SteveDear Steve,Oh dear! You've made two mistakes. First, you used your dad's computer when he told you not to. Second, you didn't tell him about the game. Yes, you must tell him immediately. If you tell him the truth, he'll be angry with you, but at least you'll prove how honest you are. Then I think you should offer to pay. But you shouldn't use your pocket money—after all, your parents gave you that money. If you offer to do some jobs around the home, or maybe help him with his work, he'll realise that you're truly sorry.Oh, and next time, play football with Da Wei!Best wishes,Diana八下M6 P50Good morning. I'm Chen Huan. Here's my culture report for today, Monday:A new film starts tonight at the student cinema at eight o'clock. The film is Pirates of the Caribbean. It's a fantastic adventure film. Johnny Depp and Orlando Bloom are the stars. They are both very popular and famous, and they both act well in this film, and make their characters believable. The story is about an old ship. It sails around the Caribbean islands. Depp and Bloom try to find some lost gold. Then they come face to face with some terrible men, and have to fight them. There's lots of action, and the fighting looks really dangerous. They also save Keira Knightley. She plays Elisabeth, the daughter of a rich man. The scenes with Knightley and Bloom are beautiful and romantic. The film isn't true to life, but it's very exciting, and some of it is very funny. It's an enjoyable film, although in my opinion there's too much fighting. But except for that, it's an excellent film. If you didn't see it when it first came out, I advise you to go and see it now. I'm sure you'll enjoy it. It's showing all week.八下M7 P58Dear Mum and Dad,We're spending some time off with Lingling's uncle in Hunan Province, and I'm having a wonderful time here in Wulingyuan Scenic and Historic Interest Area. It's very large, about 390 square kilometres, and it's a magic land of mountains, forests and rivers. It's famous for the strange shape of its tall rocks. Some people think they look like soldiers, and others think they4look like animals. Before Wu Guanzhong, a famous Chinese painter, painted some beautiful pictures of it in 1979, few people knew about the area.Last night we camped by a small lake. During the night, I heard a loud noise, as if someone was laughing. I woke up Lingling and her uncle, and I asked them what the noise was. Lingling's uncle told us not to worry, and left the tent to find out what it was. After a few minutes, he told us to come out quietly. Then he pointed into the forest. It was a monkey. When it saw us, it jumped up into the trees and went back into the forest. This morning we took a cable car up Mount Tianzi—it was quite safe! From the top we hoped for a wonderful view of the lakes and forests, but we could only see the mountain tops through the clouds. Then we walked down the path, past trees, waterfalls and plants back to our tent. I pulled a leaf off a plant, but Lingling's uncle told me to wash my hands, and not to touch it, because it was dangerous. He also said that it was wrong to pull leaves and we should protect everything here. I felt sorry.Tomorrow we're going to the second largest fresh water lake in China, Dongting Lake. We'll go back to school next week! Wish you were here!Love,Sally八下M8 P66People all over the world celebrate the new year. However, not all countries celebrate in the same way, and in some countries, the new year doesn't begin on the same date every year. It can depend on the seasons, the moon or the sun.In many countries, the new year begins on January 1st, but people start celebrating on December 31st, New Year's Eve. In New York many people go to celebrate in Times Square. While they're waiting for the New Year, they listen to music, sing traditional songs and have fun. Just before 12 o'clock, everyone counts down from 10: 10, 9, 8 ... As soon as it's 12 o'clock, everyone shouts very loudly, "Happy New Year!" and they say, "Out with the old year and in with the new!" Suddenly there are fireworks and special drinks. Sometimes people sing an old song called Auld Lang Syne.New Year's Day is often a family day. Some people relax at home. Some families get together for a special meal with grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins. When the weather is fine, many families go out for a walk.On New Year's Day, many people make resolutions for the new year. They write down a list of things, such as "I will help out more at home. I will work harder at school." or "I won't spend so much time playing video games." When they have made their list, they read it to their family or friends and promise to follow their resolutions. So it doesn't matter how they celebrate, for people in countries all over the world, it's a time to say goodbye to the old year, and to welcome the new.5八下M9 P74My Hero—Dr Norman BethuneNorman Bethune is one of China's most famous heroes, but he wasn't Chinese—he was Canadian. Would life be as easy as when your parents are around? Would it be a perfect holiday for you?Zheng Chenyu says that she would worry "Where would I find food? How would I cook it?" The 14-year-old girl says that she knows little about cooking."I can fill an empty stomach with tomato and egg soup, but that's all. I think many of my classmates are the same. We wouldn't know what to do, or how to look after ourselves," said Zheng. "And I'd forget something important. I'd probably watch television and then burn the soup."Although Zheng believes that basic life skills, such as cooking and washing clothes, are especially important, she doesn't think teenagers get enough practice."As soon as I leave home, I'll learn to cook. But now parents do almost everything for us.We're very lazy," she said. Most teenagers have only had time for their homework. They don't learn any life skills until they go to college. However, Sima Yige doesn't think so.6"I think I'd be all right. I wouldn't just eat sandwiches or fruit. I know how to cook some simple dishes because my mum showed me," the 13-year-old boy said. In his opinion, many teenagers depend too much on their parents, and there is much more to learn than cooking, like "tidying up your room or even dressing yourself properly".For most teenagers it wouldn't be a holiday at all.7。

However, no spaceship has travelled far enough to reach other stars in our Galaxy. Scientists have always asked the questions: with so man y st ars in the universe, are we alone, or is there life out there in space? Have there been visitors to the earth from other planets? It’s a magic land of mountains, forests and rivers. It’s very large, about 480 square kilometres. It’s famous for the strange shape of its tall rocks. Once a week, I played my favourite music from my father’s computer, talked about life at school, and hoped someone might be listening. Soon my friends at school started to listen, and then they wanted to help. We prepared a programme once a week, doing research on articles about music, sports news, jokes and the weather report (I did this by looking out of the window).“OK, come with me,” the manager said. I sat down in the studio. He was in another room, behind a glass wall.“OK, let’s do a sound check. Just tell me what you had for breakfast.”All radio presenters need to answer the same question before they begin work. The purpose is to check the sound level.“I had eggs, fruit and some milk.”“OK, that’s great!” the man behind the glass said. This was how my first real job in radio began.。

None of them has an environment like that of the earth, so scientists do not think theywill find life on them. The sun and its planets are called the solar system, and our solarsystem is a small part of a much larger group of stars and planets, called the Galaxy or theMilky Way. There are billions of stars in the Galaxy, and our sun is only one of them.Scientists have also discovered many other galaxies in the universe. They are very faraway and their light has to travel for many years to reach us. So how large is the universe? It is impossible to imagine.Scientists have sent spaceships to the planet of Mars to take photos. They have even sent spaceships to travel outside the solar system. However, no spaceship has travelled farenough to reach other stars in our Galaxy.Scientists have always asked the questions: with so many stars in the universe, are wealone, or is there life out there in space? Have there been visitors to the earth from otherplanets? Why has no one communicated with us? I still remember, when I was four yearsold, I sat close to the radio in the living room, listening to my favourite programmes and tothe voices of my favourite presenters. It seemed that they were speaking not to lots oflisteners but to me in person. At the age of nine, I asked for part-time jobs in small radiostations. As I grew older, my interest in radio grew. One day I learnt about Internet radio. Once aweek, I played my favourite music from my father ’ s computer, talked aboutlife at school, andhoped someone might be listening.Soon my friends at school started to listen, and then they wanted to help. We prepared aprogramme once a week, doing research on articles about music, sports news, jokesand the weather report (I did this by looking out of the window).“ OK, come with me, ” the manager said. I sat down in the studio. He was in another room, behind a glass wall.“ OK, let’ s do a sound check. Just tell me what you had for breakfast.”All radio presenters need to answer the same question before they begin work. The purpose is to check the sound level.“ I had eggs, fruit and some milk.”“ OK, that’ s great!” the man behind the glass said. This was how my first real job in radio began.。

外研社人教版初二下册英语书课文
外研社人教版初二下册英语书课文全文共6篇示例,供读者参考篇1Hi there! My name is Emma and I'm a student in 5th grade. I'm really excited to share with you some of the things I've been learning in my English class this year. It's been super fun and I feel like I've learned so much! One of my favorite units was about exploring the world and different cultures. We learned about this cool festival called Holi that they celebrate in India. It's basically this huge, colorful party where everyone throws bright powders and paints at each other. Can you imagine how messy but fun that would be? We even had a mini Holi celebration in our classroom, though we only used dry powder so it wasn't quite as wild. Still, we all looked like rainbows by the end of it!We also studied about environmental protection, which is really important. Did you know that there are actually cities in some countries that don't allow cars or gasoline-powered vehicles within the city limits? How crazy is that? I can't fathom what that must be like. We watched a video about one city inGermany called Vauban that was designed to be totallyeco-friendly, with special paths just for bikes and pedestrians. I think that's such a brilliant idea – it must make the air so clean and fresh to breathe. I really hope more cities start doing stuff like that.In another chapter, we talked about the importance of exercise and eating healthy foods. My teacher showed us the food pyramids for different countries and cultures, and it was so interesting to compare them. The American one definitely had a lot more meat and dairy compared to some of the others that focused more on grains, fruits and veggies. I've been trying to eat a wider variety of foods based on what I learned. My favorite new snack is edamame – have you ever tried those soybeans? They're oddly addictive! We've covered a ton of other topics too, like technology, summer vacations, after-school activities, future careers, and more. One of the units I enjoyed most was about astronomy and space exploration. Did you know that the first person to walk on the moon was actually not an American, but a Soviet cosmonaut named Alexei Leonov? He performed the first-ever spacewalk way back in 1965. Learning stuff like that just absolutely blows my mind. The universe is so vast and there's still so much wehaven't discovered yet. I definitely want to be an astronaut when I grow up so I can explore the galaxies!I'm so grateful that my school puts such an emphasis on learning English and about other cultures. It really opens your eyes to how diverse and amazing our world is. Like, did you know that China has over 50 ethnic minority groups, each with their own unique customs and traditions? We did a whole project researching different minority groups and presenting to the class about their clothing, food, festivals and more. My group focused on the Miao people and I was mesmerized by the stunning silver jewelry and intricate embroidery on their traditional dress. Not everything about English class has been easy, of course. Memorizing vocabulary words is probably my least favorite part. And understanding things like verb tenses or when to use "will" versus "going to" for the future tense can really tie my brain in knots sometimes. But overall, I feel like my reading, writing, listening and speaking abilities have improved tremendously this year.My speaking skills especially have come such a long way. Back in September, I was so shy about speaking English in front of the class. But now, I actually get excited when it's my turn for oral practice. Like just last week, we had to stand up and pretendto give a speech as someone running for student council president. I gave this longwinded spiel about all the cool things I would do if elected, like hosting an school carnival and starting an environmental club. Obviously it was all make-believe, but it was such a fun challenge to put those spontaneous speaking skills to the test. We've also done lots of roleplays and skits over the course of the year. One of my favorites was when we had to act out running a restaurant - I got to be the snooty, overdemanding customer who was never satisfied with anything. It was hilarious to see my classmates squirming as I loudly complained about the terrible service and inedible food. Though I do feel a little bad for giving my friend playing the waiter such a hard time!Anyway, those are just a few highlights from my English learning adventures this year. Honestly, sometimes it can be a bit overwhelming juggling all the new vocabulary, grammar rules, writing practices and cultural lessons we're exposed to. But it's all so fascinating and eye-opening. I really feel like I'm becoming a more mature, knowledgeable and open-minded person thanks to everything I've learned.I still have so much more to learn and master when it comes to English. But I'm excited to keep working hard, expanding myhorizons, and becoming an increasingly capable linguist. Who knows, maybe one day I'll be fluent enough to live abroad or work as a translator at the United Nations or something. The possibilities are endless when you can communicate across languages and cultures. For now, I'm just grateful to my amazing English teacher for making our classes so engaging and enlightening. Can't wait to see what new adventures await in the year ahead!篇2My School LifeHi there! My name is Tom and I am 13 years old. I want to tell you all about my life at school this year. It has been a really awesome time with my friends and classmates! At the beginning of the term, we had a new unit called "New Semester, Fresh Start". It was all about getting motivated and setting goals for the new school year. My goal was to get better at maths because I find it quite hard. The reading said we should "develop an interest" in subjects we struggle with. I tried that by watching some fun maths videos online and it actually helped a bit!Next we learned about different cultures in the "Cultural Relics" unit. There was a text about the Spanish holiday La Tomatina where people throw tomatoes at each other! I would love to go there one year, it looks like so much fun even though it's a bit messy. We also read about the Aboriginal culture in Australia. Their artworks using dots and lines are so cool and meaningful. I made a little Aboriginal-style painting in art class.Speaking of art, that was one of my favorite units - "Expressing Ourselves". We studied how different art forms like music, painting and dance allow people to express their emotions and creativity. I really enjoyed analyzing the lyrics to some classic rock songs to understand the deeper meaning. The poem "The Road Not Taken" by Robert Frost was also very interesting to discuss the symbolism and choices in life.Around winter time, we covered a unit called "An Ecologically Aware Life". It taught us a lot about protecting the environment through reducing waste, recycling, saving energy and so on. These small actions can really make a big difference if we all do them. At home, I started turning off lights when leaving a room and taking shorter showers. Every little bit helps! My class also did a beach cleanup activity which was exhausting but rewarding. One funny story is from the "Sweet and Sour" unit about food. We read about different taste sensations like sweet, sour, salty etc. Then our teacher brought in some unusual foods like lemon wedges, dark chocolate, and pickle juice for us to sample the extreme flavors! I actually liked the dark chocolate even though it was quite bitter at first. But the pickle juice was just too sour and salty for me. At least I tried it!Probably the unit I found most difficult was "Technical Secrets". It looked at the science behind modern technologies like 3D printing, virtual reality and bionic limbs. Some of the concepts were hard to grasp but it opened my eyes to the amazing advancements happening in the world. Maybe someday I'll work in a high-tech field like that!Towards the end of the year, we had a great unit called "Sail Across the Sea". We learned about famous ocean explorers like Christopher Columbus and ancient mariners who used the stars, sun and winds to navigate the seas. It was fascinating reading their tales of adventure and discovery. For our class project, we even made model ships and had races in the school swimming pool to simulate a long sea voyage. My ship sank but it was still really fun.So those were some of the highlights and memorable moments from my 8th grade English class this past year. Between the engaging texts, classroom activities and lively discussions, it has been an awesome learning experience. I feel like my reading, writing, speaking and overall language skills have improved a ton.I'm excited to continue building my English abilities as I move onto high school next year. But for now, I'm just looking forward to a relaxing summer break! Thanks for reading about my school life. Let me know if you have any other questions!篇3Hi there! My name is Tommy and I'm a 10-year-old boy in primary school. Today, I want to tell you about some of the cool stories and things I learned from my English textbook this year. It's the one used in Grade 8, but my big sister passed it down to me because she's already in high school. I really like reading the stories and doing the exercises. Let me share some of my favorites with you!The first unit was called "Making Friends" and it was all about how to be a good friend and get along with others. There was this neat story called "An Honest Boy" about a kid namedXiaoming who found a wallet on the street. Even though the wallet had a lot of money in it, Xiaoming didn't keep it for himself. Instead, he took it to the police station so they could find the owner and return it. I thought that was really cool of Xiaoming to do the right thing like that. The story taught me that honesty is super important in being a good friend.Another story I liked was "A Cup of Friendship" which was about two boys, one from China and one from America, who became best friends even though they were from different countries and cultures. They helped each other out, learned about each other's customs, and had a lot of fun adventures together. It made me realize that true friends can come from anywhere in the world as long as you're kind, open-minded, and willing to understand one another. I want to make friends with kids from all over when I grow up!Then there was this unit about exploring nature and taking care of the environment. One passage described this magical rainforest filled with colorful birds, tall trees, rushing rivers, and all sorts of incredible plants and animals. Reading it made me feel like I was really there experiencing the beauty and wonders of nature myself. Another text talked about how important it is to protect nature by reducing pollution, conserving resources, andtreating wildlife with respect. It inspired me to be moreeco-friendly by doing things like recycling, saving water and electricity, and never littering. My favorite unit was probably the one on sports and hobbies. It had passages about all different kinds of games, activities, and interests people can get into. There were cool stories about kids playing soccer, hiking in the mountains, putting on a school play, and even taking care of a adorable puppy! The texts made me want to try out new sports and hobbies myself. I'm already into swimming and riding my bike, but now I'm super excited to maybe join a basketball team or take up painting too. Having fun hobbies seems like a great way to stay active, creative, and happy.Anyway, those are just some of the neat things I read about in my English textbook. The stories, articles, and dialogues were all really engaging and taught me lots of valuable life lessons too. Things like being a good friend, appreciating different cultures, caring for nature, pursuing your interests and passions, and so much more. I'm really glad I got to read and learn from this textbook. It's helping me become a smarter, kinder, and more well-rounded person. I can't wait to crack it open again and see what other amazing tales and knowledge are waiting for me!篇4My Big Summer AdventureHey there! It's me, your friendly neighborhood middle schooler, here to tell you about the most exciting summer I've ever had. You know how it usually goes - sleeping in late, playing video games, hanging out with friends, and just trying not to die of boredom before school starts again. But not this year, my friends. Oh no, this summer was different. This summer was an adventure! It all started when my parents announced we were going on a family trip to Canada. I wasn't exactly thrilled at first. Canada? Isn't that just a bigger, colder version of here? Boy, was I wrong! From the moment we landed in Vancouver, I knew this was going to be no ordinary vacation. Our first stop was Stanley Park, a huge forest right in the middle of the city. We rented bikes and went exploring along the trails. I saw towering trees, pretty little creeks, and even spotted some tiny little critters scampering about. Who knew the great outdoors could be so cool? After working up an appetite, we grabbed some food from a place called Japadog. Hot dogs are good and all, but have youever had one topped with Japanese things like seaweed, teriyaki sauce, or even wasabi mayo? Trust me, it's a game changer! The next day, we took a ferry over to Vancouver Island to do some whale watching. I'd seen whales at aquariums before, but seeing them out in the open ocean was incredible. These massive gentle giants just gliding through the water. We even got to see some other cool marine animals like seals, sea lions, and bald eagles! I felt like a real nature explorer. From there, we drove way up into the Canadian Rockies to the town of Banff. Wow, talk about beautiful! Turquoise lakes, snowy mountain peaks, bright green forests - it was like something out of a painting. We stayed in a cozy little cabin and I got to go hiking, canoeing, and they even took me horseback riding. Definitely an experience I'll never forget. One of the coolest things we did was take an Ice Explorer tour on the Athabasca Glacier. That's right, we actually got to walk out on an ancient glacier! The ice was so dense and blue, it felt like I was walking on another planet. Our guide taught us all about how glaciers form and change over time. Who knew learning could be so much fun? After the Rockies, we drove back to the coast to spend a few days in the city of Victoria. It felt like stepping back in time withits British-style gardens, historic buildings, and bright red double-decker buses. We visited Craigdarroch Castle, which is this crazy huge mansion from the 1800s. I got to pretend I was a prince living in a royal palace! On our last day, we went on a whale watching tour again, but this time we didn't just see whales - we saw orcas! Theseblack-and-white killer whales were swimming so close, leaping out of the water. Just an unbelievable experience.By the time we flew back home, I had gone from dreading the trip to never wanting it to end. Who knew there was so much cool stuff to see and do in Canada? I got to experience different cultures, try new foods, see amazing animals, and just be out in nature in a way I never had before. This trip made me realize how big and beautiful the world really is.I learned so much, but I also had a total blast. Camping, hiking, horseback riding, canoeing, glacier walking - I checked off just about every outdoor adventure you can imagine! Canada really opened my eyes to how many incredible places and experiences are out there just waiting to be discovered.Alright, that's my story! I'm already dreaming about where my family might go next summer. Who knows, maybe I'll have aneven more incredible adventure to tell you about. A kid can dream, right? Until then, happy trails!篇5Hi there! My name is Emily and I'm 10 years old. I just started learning English this year and I really enjoy it. My English textbook has a bunch of cool stories and passages that I want to tell you about. One story is called "A Bite of China." It's all about the different kinds of delicious food you can find in China. Did you know China has eight main cultural cuisine types? There's Sichuan cuisine which is really spicy and has lots of chili peppers. Then there's Cantonese cuisine from Guangdong province with dishes like dim sum. My favorite so far is Shandong cuisine - they have amazing breads and pancakes! The story taught me about the different flavors, cooking styles, and key ingredients across the regions. China has such an amazing food culture.Another passage was titled "From Jade to Landscape Art." It talked about the history of jade carving in China going back over 7,000 years! Jade is this beautiful green gemstone that was really important to ancient Chinese cultures. They would carve it into decorations, jewelry, and art pieces. The passage described howjade carving evolved from making simple everyday objects to incredibly detailed landscape scenes carved from a single piece of jade stone. Some of the landscape carvings look just like real mountains, rivers, and trees - but miniature sized! It's amazing what the artists could do with jade. I'd love to see some real jade carvings up close someday. Then there was a funny story called "An Unbreakable Case of Bad Habit." It's about this guy named Zhang Guan who had a really bad habit of cracking his knuckles allllll the time. His friends and family always told him to stop because it's an annoying noise and could hurt his fingers after awhile. But Zhang Guan just couldn't break his habit no matter how hard he tried. One day he got his hand stuck in a really expensive precious vase while cracking his knuckles! His friends had to go buy tools to carefully break the vase and free his hand. After that embarrassing incident, Zhang Guan finally quit his knuckle cracking habit for good. The moral is you should listen when people tell you to stop a bad habit before it gets you into trouble!Another cool passage introduces this ancient Chinese philosopher named Confucius. He came up with a whole system of ethics and ideas about how people should behave - things likebeing respectful, working hard, getting educated, and putting family first. Confucius believed that if people followed his teachings it would lead to a more peaceful and orderly society. Some of his famous quotes are "It does not matter how slowly you go as long as you do not stop" and "When it is obvious that the goals cannot be reached, don't adjust the goals, adjust the action steps." Pretty wise stuff from a guy who lived 2,500 years ago! A lot of his philosophy is still followed in Chinese culture today.I really enjoyed the passage about the Forbidden City in Beijing too. The Forbidden City used to be this massive palace complex where the emperors of China lived with their families and government. It was kinda like a city within a city, with almost 10,000 rooms! The passage talked about the different sections like where the emperor lived versus where the empress and concubines stayed. My favorite part was learning about the Celestial Gardens which had rare plants, rock gardens, and even palaces made just for the emperor to hang out and drink tea. I'd love to visit the Forbidden City someday and get to explore the gardens and all the different areas.Lastly, there was a biography about this lady named Youra Husni who does humanitarian work. When she was younger, shelived through the Lebanese Civil War and saw how badly war can hurt innocent people, especially kids. So she started this charity organization called INSAN that provides education, medical care, and other support to children and families affected by war or poverty across the Middle East. The passage talked about how she's helped set up schools and summer camps for kids in areas torn apart by conflict. And she's helped reunite families who were separated. She seems like such a kind, brave person for devoting her life to helping others in need. I hope I can grow up to make a positive difference in the world like Youra Husni.Well, those are some of the neat passages from my English book this semester. Learning about the history, culture, food, and people of China and other places has been really fascinating. My reading and vocabulary skills are improving a ton too. I can't wait to keep practicing my English and see what other interesting stories await in the next book! Let me know if you have any other questions.篇6My Amazing Summer VacationHi there! My name is Timmy, and I'm going to tell you all about my awesome summer vacation. It was the best summer ever!First, my family and I went to the beach. We played in the sand, built sandcastles, and splashed in the waves. I even learned how to swim better! We had a picnic on the shore and ate yummy sandwiches and fresh fruit. The sun was shining, and the seagulls were flying overhead. It was so much fun!Next, we went camping in the mountains. We set up a tent and roasted marshmallows over a campfire. I love the smell of marshmallows when they turn golden brown! At night, we looked up at the sky and saw millions of stars twinkling. My dad showed me the Big Dipper and told me stories about the constellations. It was like a dream come true! After camping, we visited a famous national park. We hiked through lush forests, climbed up tall mountains, and saw beautiful waterfalls. I felt like an adventurer exploring a hidden world! We even spotted some deer and squirrels along the way. I took lots of pictures to remember those special moments. But the most exciting part of my summer vacation was going to an amusement park! I rode thrilling roller coasters that made my tummy flip and my heart race. We laughed and screamedtogether. I also played games and won a stuffed animal, which I named Mr. Fluffy. We ate cotton candy and ice cream to cool down in the summer heat. It was a day full of laughter and excitement!During my summer vacation, I also spent time with my friends. We rode bikes, played soccer, and had water balloon fights. We laughed until our stomachs hurt! We went to the movies and ate popcorn while watching funny cartoons. It was great to have fun with my buddies.Sadly, summer vacation came to an end, but I have so many amazing memories to cherish. I learned new things, explored different places, and had a blast with my family and friends. I can't wait for the next summer adventure! That's the end of my story about my fantastic summer vacation. I hope you enjoyed it as much as I enjoyed my vacation. Remember, it's important to have fun and make the most of your time off. See you next time!Word count: 317 words。

It is impossible to im-agine.Scientists have sent spaceships to the plant of Mars to take photos. They even have sent space-ships to travel outside the solar system. However, no spaceship has travelled far enough to reach near other stars in our Galaxy. Scientists have always asked the question: With so many stars in the universe, are we alone, or is there life out there in space? Have there been visitors to the earth from other planets? Why has no one communicated with us? We do not know the answers…yet.Questions:1. Have we found life on any other planets?___________________________________________________________________________2. It’s a magic land of mountains, forests and rivers. It's very large, about 480 square kilom e-tres. It’s famous for the strange shape of its tall rock s. Some of them look like humans, and others look like wild animals.Last night we camped by a small lake. I pulled a leaf off a plant, but Lingling’s uncle said that it was wrong to pull leaves off plants and that we should protect everything here. I was very sorry.Tomorrow we’re going to Dongting Lake, the second largest freshwater lake in China. We’ll to back home next week! Wish you were here!Love,BettyQuestions:1.
