Below are the best ways to get around the city of Delhi, India, and tips for how to keep from being the victim of scams (欺诈).Taking taxis is a great way to get around the city of Delhi and chances are, if you arrive in Delhi by plane, as soon as you make it through customs, you'll be swarmed by Indian taxi drivers. At the Delhi airport, be sure to arrange for a taxi to your hotel at one of the two Delhi Traffic Police Taxi Booths. One is inside the airport, and the other is outside. The key is to make sure to go to a booth run by the police, rather than by independent taxi drivers.Rickshaws are one of my favourite ways to get around Indian cities, in part because it's how the locals often travel. Auto-rickshaws are more common, but bicycle rickshaws are still used in Old Delhi. If you do have a chance to take a bicycle rickshaw, you should do it at least once for a unique experience that should only set you back about 15 rupees. Auto-rickshaw rates around Delhi range between 30 and 80 rupees, depending on the distance. If you really want to travel around Delhi like the locals, take a public bus. Indian buses become very crowded and most do not have air conditioning. They are, however, very cheap. A bus trip won't set you back any more than 15 rupees, as long as you stay within the city limits. Since Indian buses get so crowded, try to board the bus at the start of the route so you can get a seat. The train is a great way to get around within the city of Delhi. Fares are reasonable, between 6 and 22 rupees. All departure announcements are in both Hindi and English, and tokens can be purchased for between 6 and 22 rupees.1. The author is trying to ________ in Delhi through this text.A.give some advice of travellingB.expect us to travel aroundC.show his/her experiencesD.explain the difficulties of travelling2. To avoid being cheated, you ought to ________ if you want to take a taxi at the Delhi airport.A.pay more to the drivers to keep safeB.show your ticket to the driverC.go to a policerun boothD.go out of the airport3. The author suggests taking a rickshaw in order to ________.A.save some moneyB.enjoy the comfortable tripC.gain a unique experienceD.help the local rickshaw drivers4. What can we infer from the passage?A.You won't have to pay much if you travel around by bus in India.B.It will be difficult for you to get a seat if you get on the bus halfway.C.A rickshaw driver only charges whatever amount you give him.D.You'll have to speak English if you travel around in India.5. Which may be the topic that follows?A.Hotel recommendations in DelhiB.Weather conditions in DelhiC.Food and drink in DelhiD.Car rentals in DelhiBLife is to be enjoyed. There's no point in giving up something you enjoy unless you get something back that's even better. When people eat more healthfully, exercise, quit smoking, and manage stress better, they find that they feel so much better that it reconstructs the reason for making these changes from fear of dying to joy of living. The latest studies show that when you exercise and eat right:YOUR BRAIN receives more blood flow and oxygen, so you become smarter, think more clearly, have more energy, and need less sleep. Two studies showed that just walking for three hours per week for only three months caused so many new neurons (神经细胞) to grow that it actually increased the size of people's brains!YOUR FACE receives more blood flow, so your_skin_glows more and wrinkles less. You look younger and more attractive. In contrast, an unhealthy diet, chronic emotional stress and smoking reduce blood flow to your face so you age more quickly. Smoking accelerates aging because nicotine causes your arteries (动脉) to narrow down, which decreases blood flow to your face and makes it wrinkle earlier. This is why smokers look years older than they really are.YOUR GENES change. In May, a study was published in the proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences showing that changing your lifestyle changes your genes.YOUR TELOMERES (染色体端粒) get longer. Telomeres are the ends of our chromosomes (染色体) that control how long we live. As telomeres become shorter, then cells age more quickly, thus shortening your life.Besides, one of the most interesting findings in the study was that the mothers' awareness of stress was more important than what was really occurring in their lives. The researchers gave the women a questionnaire and asked them to rate on a three-point scale how stressed they felt each day, and how out of control their lives felt to them. The women who were aware that they were under heavy stress had significantly shortened and damaged telomeres compared with those who felt more relaxed. On the contrary, some of the women who felt relaxed despite raising a disabledchild had more normal-appearing telomeres. In other words, if you feel stressed, you are stressed; if you feel fine, you are fine.1. Which of the following are good for lengthening one's life, according to the passage?①eat healthy food ②drink plenty of water③take exercise ④get up early⑤go to sleep early ⑥release one's stressA.①③⑥B.①②③C.①⑤⑥D.③④⑥2. The underlined words “your skin glows”in Paragraph 3 are closest in meaning to “________”.A.your skin becomes white as there is plenty of sunshineB.your skin becomes smooth as there is much blood in itC.your skin looks pink as you are healthyD.your skin becomes soft as you exercise enough3. In the author's opinion, when you exercise and eat right, you will experience some changes EXCEPT ________.A.brains becoming clevererB.faces having fewer wrinklesC.arteries turning narrowerD.genes being changed4. From the last but one paragraph we learn that ________.A.mothers will have more damaged telomeres if they raise a disabled childB.mothers don't know how to handle stress effectivelyC.some women were asked to fill out a questionnaire about educating childrenD.mothers' positive attitudes are the key to managing their stress5. The best title for the passage would be “________”.A.Eat better, live betterB.Feel better, live longerC.Less stress, fewer diseasesD.Smoke more, age soonerCBig Brothers Big Sisters is based on the simplicity and power of friendship.

[典例1]( 2016 -浙江高考,11)Scientists have advaneed many theories about why human beings cry tears , none of ________________ has been proved.A. whomB. whichD. thatC. whatB [ 如果学生把先行词误认为scientists ,容易错选A 项。

分析句子结构可知,逗号后是"代词+ of + which/whom"引导的非限制性定语从句。

先行词是manytheories ,指物,故关系代词只能用which 。

][ 典例2]He wrote five novels ,two of ______ translated into English.A.it B.themC.which D.thatB [ 此题很容易掉进陷阱误选C 项,学生误以为后面是非限制性定语从句。

事实上translated 是过去分词,而不是谓语动词,后面不是句子,不能用连词,所以正确答案是B项them。

若在translated 前加上were,were translated 就成了谓语动词,这时才可以选连词which 。

2012高考英语二轮复习专题限时训练(江苏专用)专题2 阅读理解 1(35分钟)AHe was an old man who fished alone in a boat in the Gulf Stream and he had gone eighty-four days now without taking a fish. In the first forty days a boy had been with him. But after forty days without a fish th e boy’s parents had told him that the old man was now definitely and finally salao, which is the worst form of unlucky, and the boy had gone at their orders in another boat which caught three good fish the first week. It made the boy sad to see the old man come in each day with his skiff empty and he always went down to help him carry either the coiled lines or the gaff (鱼钩) and harpoon (鱼叉) and the sail that was furled around the mast (桅杆). The sail was patched with flour sacks and, furled, it looked like the flag of permanent defeat. The old man was thin and gaunt with deep wrinkles in the back of his neck. The brown blotches(斑点)of the skin cancer the sun brings from its reflection on the tropic sea were on his cheeks. The blotches ran well down the sides of his face and his hands had the deep-creased scars from handling heavy fish on the cords. But none of these scars were fresh. They were as old as erosions in a fishless desert.Everything about him was old except his eyes and they were the same color as the sea and were cheerful and undefeated.“Santiago,” the boy said to him as they climbed the bank from where the s kiff was pulled up. “I could go with you again. We’ve made some money.”The old man had taught the boy to fish and the boy loved him.“No,” the old man said. “You’re with a lucky boat. Stay with them.”“But remember how you went eighty-seven days without fish and then we caught big ones every day for three weeks.”“I remember,” the old man said. “I know you did not leave me because you doubted.”“It was papa who made me leave. It’s said that it’s the day that store ledgers(分类账)move into the black and companies become profitable. On that day, retailers slash prices to get consumers to buy. It is also a time when many Americans start their Christmas shopping. VOA’s Elizabeth Lee tells us how the economy may affect consumers o n that bargain day.“It’s just the deals, the sales and everything you can get for a lesser price,” said Sandy Thomas, a shopper. But it’s a nightmare for others. “I think it’s crazy. I’ve done all of my shopping throughout the week so I don’t have to go out on Friday,” she said. It’s called Black Friday, the start of the traditional Christmas shopping season in the United States. Every year it’s the day after the Thanksgiving holiday. Stores open before sunrise and there are deep discounts everywhere you look. While the lead up to Christmas is known as the season of giving, Black Friday can get ugly.Last year a crowd of bargain-hunters killed a Wal-mart worker in a New York suburb. This year, many stores are increasing security while they slash prices. “T his is a huge time for the retail stores,” said Fred Joutz from George Washington University. “This is when they begin making their profits for the year.”Economics professor Fred Joutz says how Americans spend the weekend after Thanksgiving is a good indication of how consumers feel about the future. With the unemployment rate above 10 percent, Joutz says Americans are saving more and spending less. “Credit is still strictly controlled whether through credit cards or through borrowing from banks,” he said. Some retailers are attracting consumers by opening on Thanksgiving Day, when shops are traditionally closed. Other stores open their doors anywhere from midnight to four in the morning. And shoppers will be lining up in front of the doors in order to be one of the first ones to walk through and get a big discount. Electronics like flat screen TVs are usually the first items to go. Sandy Thomas says it’s an annual family tradition and well worth it. “I just save maybe half of what I would have spent on a r egular, you know, shopping trip,” she said.Economists say U.S. consumers will spend money this Black Friday, but they will spend it more carefully.4. Because it’s a time when they begin making their profits for the year.C. Because last year a crowd of bargain-hunters caused an accident.D. The first sensible lesson is that you shouldn’t bother trying to find your way in the dark at all, but just stay put until dawn. Because then you won’t trip over things? No, mainly because you’ll have an idea of direc tion. The sun rises in the east. But you will be amazed at how many people forget they know that. Apparently, the area underneath a holly bush provides a good makeshift shelter — they are thick, and evergreen. The next thing to do —or rather not to do —is panic, for the obvious reason that unless there is someone there to hear you scream, it will get you nowhere. Just try to think of nice, happy things. There is always a point in films when a person who is lost in the desert or the snow, dehydrated(脱水的) and exhausted, comes across a set of their own footprints and realizes they have just walked in a huge, round circle. It is wrong to owe it to the unequal strengths or different lengths of your legs. Experiments prove that, without the sun or the moon (or landmarks) as a fixed guide, lots of small errors add up over time so the brain can’t correctly identify the “straight ahead” direction. To just get out of somewhere, pick a spot on the horizon and just head for it.There are several ways to find directions in the dark, and by far the best is to establish north using the stars. Most people can identify the Plough, which ispart of Ursa Major. It looks a lot like a saucepan. The Plough rotates through the sky, but let’s imagine the saucepan lying horizo ntally (水平地), with its handle on the left. You need to trace a line from the star at the right-hand base of the pan, through the star at the right-hand rim (边沿), and follow it upwards; the north star is roughly five times the distance between those two “pointer” stars. Then drop a vertical line from the North Star to the horizon and that’s north.“Tonight is very cloudy and I can’t see the Plough.” Maybe luckily, it is quite windy. Keep in mind that almost all of our weather comes from a south-westerly direction. (This only works if you are in the British Isles). To find the direction, you can throw light bits of dried-out grass in the air and see which way they blow; or, if there are clouds and patches of clear sky, see which way they blow across the stars. You can also get an idea of direction from leggy plants. If they look as if they have been blown over, they will probably be pointing north-east. If they are simply leaning in one direction as they grow, there’s a good chance that is south (they will be reaching towards the sun). The last thing to do is to judge your direction and off you go.12. What might be the best title of the passage ?A. How to survive in the forestB. How to protect yourself in the forestC. How to direct your way out of the wildD. What to do if you are lost13. Which of the following pictures matches the description of the position of the north star?14. Why will people often walk in a circle if they are lost in the desert or the snow?A. Because without anything to refer to for directions, the brain will be confused by errors.B. Because one of the legs is longer and stronger than the other.C. Because the desert or the snow usually covers a large area for people to get across.D. Because people usually feel dehydrated and exhausted in the desert or the snow.15. If you were lost in Taklimakan Desert in China, _________ would NOT be dependable for you to identify the directions.A. the sunB. the North StarC. windD. the moon CAB ABCA CBAC CDAC。
