Unit 1 Have you ever been to an English corner(一)重点单词1. achieve v. 成功;实现achieve表示取得成就、成果或获得胜利、成功等;也可以表示经长期努力而“实现”“达到”“完成”,如实现目标、愿望,达到目的,完成计划等。

achieve多用于美好的事物,一经获得便永远受益且不易丧失,一般不与贬义词连用。

achieve的主语一般为人,宾语多为抽象名词或代词,不接动词不定式、动名词或从句。

可用于被动结构。

如:It takes hard work to achieve success. 成功需要努力工作。

He hopes to achieve all his aims soon. 他希望尽快达到所有目标。

be good at 强调一种笼统情况,而do well in可表示一种情况,也可指在具体的一次活动中表现出色。

be good for/ with/ to的用法:(1)be good for对……有好处,反义词组为be bad for 对……有害。

(2)be good with=get on well with 灵巧的;与…相处得好。
