强化训练 02阅读理解 (二(45分钟, 100分ACertainly, a well-rounded education is the foundation from which all of us spring forth. I am grateful to the many incredible teachers who have inspired me to do greater things, and have fired my enthusiasm for everlasting learning!I have also been honoured to have the most amazing teachers in all of my children's lives. These are extraordinary people who not only teach our children, but love them, challenge them, and provide an environment where a child learns how to learn. But, sometimes I wonder if the outline of our educational plan is lacking something.I watched the movie Easy A with my older daughter. The main character's parents were loving, supportive, and built great confidence in their daughter and developed her ability to handle her own problems. There was a scene where the mother was speaking to the younger child and he announced that he received an “A” on his spelling test. She replied. “That's great, honey, but everything has spell check these days.” It was fu nn y -but TRUE! I don't mean that we shouldn't teach our children how to spell, but maybe some of our time should be spent educating them about the dangers of posting things on Facebook.Maybe we might want to spend time showing them how real life works-the credit card isn't free money-you will have to pay it back at sometime. Oh, and get this-they charge you for borrowing that money. Perhaps, we should spend some time on interpersonal relationships. I worry that our kids do not know how to relate to one another.changed her major twice. It's not that she didn't know what she wanted to do. What she “wanted to do” and the degree she chose did not match.I have learned many college students do not know what they want to do because they haven't seen what it looks like in the real world. Being a journalist in the real world looks very different from writing stories. Maybe if we spent some time exposing them to real life experience-maybe two or three courses in areas of interest in high school that give them a “feel” for what that particular field would look like, they might be better prepared. I do not know the solution, but it seems that it should at least be a topic of discussion.1. Why does the author mention the movie Easy A?A. To prove the importance of book learning.B. To show the parents' ignorance of spelling.C. To lead to the topic he is going to talk about.D. To share with the readers his feeling about the movie.2. The author believes that __________.A. students need to focus on the skills in learningB. parents and school should be consistent in educationC. his daughter is smart enough to make her own choiceD. courses in areas of interest in high schools will benefit students3. The underlined word “daunting” in Paragraph 6 probably means __________.A. discouragingB. specificC. rewardingD. regular4. What is mainly discussed in the passage?A. Schools should prepare students for the real life.B. What students learn in school should be practiced in life.C. Life experience is of greater importance than school education.D. Students should spend more time discussing practical problems.【语篇解读】本文主要通过几个实例来说明“ 教育是为真实生活做准备” 的道理。

高考英语二轮复习阅读训练及答案

高考英语二轮复习阅读训练及答案高考英语二轮复习阅读训练1:What should you think about when trying to find your career? You are probably better at some school subjects than others. These may show strengths that you can use in your work. A boy who is good at mathematics can use that in an engineering career. A girl who spells well and likes English may be good at office work. So it is important to know the subjects you do well in at school. On the other hand, you may not have any specially strong subjects but your records show a general satisfactory standard. Although not all subjects can be used directly in a job, they may have indirect value. A knowledge of history is not required for most jobs but if history is one of your good subjects you will have learned to remember facts and details. This is an ability that can be useful in many jobs.Your school may have taught you skills, such as typing or technical drawing, which you can use in your work. You may be good at metalwork or cookery and look for a job where you can improve these skills. If you have had a part-time job on Saturdays or in the summer, think what you gained from it. If nothing else, you may have learned how to get to work on time, to follow instructions and to get on with older workers. You may have learned to give correct change in a shop, for example. Just as important, you may become interested in a particular industry or career you see from the inside in a part-time job.Facing your weak points is also part of knowing yourself. You may be all thumbs when you handle tools; perhaps you are a poor speller or cannot add up a column of figures. It is better to face any weakness than to pretend they do not exist. Your school record, for instance, may not be too good, yet it is an important part of your background. You should not be apologetic about it but instead recognize that you will have a chance of a fresh start at work.46. We can infer from the first paragraph that ________.learning better at school shows power in your jobthe better you are at school subjects, the more helpful they are in your career.learning each subject well is an ability in many jobs.we should think about how to find our career47. From the passage we learn that if a students school performance is not good, he will _____.A. have no hope in his future workB. be hopeful to find a suitable jobC. regret not having worked harder at schoolD. have an opportunity of a new beginning in his future work48. All the subjects may have direct value for job hunting except _________.A. mathematicsB. EnglishC. historyD. technical drawing49. The underlined phrase “be all thumbs” (in Paragraph 3) probably means “_________”.A. heavy- handedB. the bestC. importantD. skilled50. The passage mainly discusses ___________.A. The relationship between school performance and careerB. how to get a jobC. How to show strengths in your workD. working experience and knowledge at school二轮复习阅读训练答案:46- 50 BDCAA高考英语二轮复习阅读训练2:In modern society there is a great deal of argument about competition. Some value it highly, believing that it is responsible for social progress and prosperity, others say that competition is bad; that it sets one person against another; that it leads to unfriendly relationship between people.I have taught many children who held the belief that their self –worth relied (依赖) on how well they performed at tennis and other skills. For them, playing well and winning are often life – and – death affairs. In their single – minded pursuit (追求) of success, the development of many other human qualities is sadly forgotten. However, while some seem to be lost in the desire to succeed, others take an opposite attitude. In a culture which values only the winner andpays no attention to the ordinary players, they strongly blame competition. Among the most vocal are youngsters who have suffered under competitive pressures from their parents or society. Teaching these young people, I often observe in them a desire to fail. They seem to se ek failure by not trying to win or achieve success. By not trying, they always have an excuse: “I may have lost, but it doesnt matter because I really didnt try.” What is not usually admitted by themselves is the belief that if they had really tried and lost, that would mean a lot. Such a loss would be a measure of their worth. Clearly, this belief is the same as that of the true competitors who try to prove themselves. Both are based on the mistaken belief that ones self – respect relies on how well one performs in comparison with others. Both are afraid of not being valued. Only as this basic and often troublesome fear begins to dissolve (缓解) can we discovera new meaning in competition.41.What does this passage mainly talk about?petition helps to set up self – respect.B.Opinions about competition are different among people.petition is harmful to personal quality development.D.Failures are necessary experiences in competition42.Why do some people favor competition according to the passage?A.It pushes society forward.B.It builds up a sense of duty.C.It improves personal abilities.D.It encourages individual efforts.43.The underlined phrase “the most vocal” in Paragraph 3 means .A.those who try their best to winB.those who value competition most highlyC.those who are against competition most stronglyD.those who rely on others most for success44.What is the similar belief of the true competitors and those witha desire to fail ?A.Ones worth lies in his performance compared with others.B.Ones success in competition needs great efforts.C.Ones achievement is determined by his particular skills.D.Ones success is based on how hard he has tried.45.Which point of view may the author agree to?A.Every effort should be paid back.petition should be encouraged.C.Winning should be a life – and – death matter.D.Fear of failure should be removed in competition.二轮复习阅读训练答案:41.B 42.A 43.C 44.A 45.D。

Several considerations go into selecting students, including grades, school involvement and interest in science and agriculture. And many students come from poorer school districts, Funkhouser says. “This is their chance to learn techniques and do experiments they never would have a chance to do in high school.Warner Ervin of Houston is interested in animal science and learned how to tell male from female mosquitoes(蚊子).His adviser, Craig Coates, studies the genes of mosquitoes that allow them to fight against malaria and yellow fever. Coates thought this experience would be fun and helpful to the high school students. The agricultural research at AM differs from stereotypes. Its “molecular(分子)science on the cutting edge,” Funkhouser says. The program broadened students knowledge. Victor Garcia of Rio Grande City hopes to become a biology teacher and says he learned a lot about chemistry from the program. At the end of the program, the students presented papers on their research.Theyre also paid $600 for their work-another way this program differs from others, which often charge a fee.Fourteen students got paid to learn that science is fun, that agriculture is a lot more than milking and plowing and that research can open many doors.71.The research program is chiefly designed for .A. high school advisers from HoustonB. college students majoring in agricultureC. high school students from different placesD. researchers at the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences72.It can be inferred from the text that the students in poorer areas .A. had little chance to go to collegeB. could often take part in the programC. found the program useful to their futureD. showed much interest in their high school experiments73.When the program was over, the students .A. entered that collegeB. wrote research reportsC. paid for their researchD. found way to make money74.The underlined expression “on the cutting edge” in paragraph 5 means “on the most position”.A. importantB. favourableC. astonishingD. advanced75.What would be the best title for the text?A.A Program for Agricultural Science StudentsB. 高考第二轮复习英语阅读理解练习二(含解析)阅读理解:阅读下面短文,从题后所给的A、B、C、D四个答案中选出最佳选项。

AWhen he thought of the past, my grandfather would sometimes show us photographs of himself at school. They were brown and faded, and it was hard to believe that the blurred figure of the little boy in the short trousers and socks could ever have been Grandfather. Besides, he wore a cap---and the boys in the photographs wore caps pulled so far forward that half of their faces were obscured. When Grandfather asked us to pick him out from the group, we would surely point to the wrong boy.On one such occasion my younger sister, aged six, burst into tears when Grandfather proudly guided her finger to the right boy. "How could that boy be you?" she cried. "He should have a beard.” We were, of course, all convinced that grandfathers should have beards , preferably white and bushy, like our own grandfather's."I was a good scholar ,”Grandfather would say, wagging his beard over the photographs. " I should have been top of the c1ass if I hadn't had to get up at six every morning to milk the cows and chop the wood, and again when I came home from school.”"But Saturdays? What did you do on Saturdays?""Saturdays, if it was fine, I’d be out all day in the fields with the men," replied Grandfather. "And if it was wet, I’d be helping my mother with odd jobs round the house. There wasn't much time for studying."We all tried hard to imagine what it would have been like to have been Grandfather getting up at crack of dawn and never, obviously, having a moment for himself. It seemed we had learnt something from what Grandfather had said about his childhood.1. In the first paragraph of this passage, what the author really tells us is that______.A .his grandfather used to wear short trousers, socks and a cap as wellB. it was difficult to tell which of the boys in the photographs was GrandfatherC. he didn't believe Grandfather wore a cap pulled forward when he was at schoolD. it was fun to watch boys in the photographs wearing caps pulled forward2. The author's sister burst into tears because______________.A. she did not get a chance to pick out Grandfather in the photographsB. she was told which was the right boy before she herself could pick him outC. other children did not agree with her that Grandfather should have had a beardD. she found Grandfather in the photographs did not have a beard3. When Grandfather said, "I should have been top of the class….", he meant____________.A if he had had more time for studying, he would have been the best in his classB. he should have spent more time studying rather than playing ball gamesC. his school days should not have been so hard and miserableD. he could have never been the best student even if he had studied still harder4.In the last paragraph the author said, "We all tried hard to imagin e…"because__________.A. the figures of the boys in the photographs were small and blurredB. the children had never experienced life like that of GrandfatherC. the photographs Grandfather showed them were brown and fadedD. Grandfather failed to tell them about his childhood in detailBRumour( 谣言)is the most primitive way of spreading stories--- by passing them on from mouth to mouth. but civilized countries in normal times have better sources of news than rumour. They have radio, television, and newspapers. In times of confusion ( 混乱), however ,rumour appears and becomes widespread. At such times the different kinds of news are in competition: the press, television, and radio against the grapevine.Especially do rumours spread when war requires control on many important matters. The normal news sources no longer give out enough information. Since the people can not learn through legal channels all that they are anxious to learn, they pick up "news" wherever they can and when this happens, rumour grows.Rumours are often repeated even by those who do not believe the tales. There is an interest about them. The reason is that the cleverly designed rumour gives expression to something deep in the hearts of the victims --- the fears, doubts, forbidden hopes, or daydreams which they hesitate to voice directly. Pessimistic ( 悲观的) rumours about defeat and disasters show that the people who repeat them are worried and anxious .Optimistic rumours about record production or peace soon coming point to self- satisfaction or confidence---and often to over- confidence.5. The author suggests that, in times of confusion, man often __________.A. stops regular news services B .turns to primitive ways for supportC. distrusts his fellow manD. loses complete control of himself6. The underlined word "grapevine" in Paragraph 1 probably means "__________”.A. rumourB. newspaperC. informationD. time7. The author states that during wartime the regular sources of news provide only __________ .A .false information B. optimistic reportsC. limited informationD. pessimistic reports8. Which of the following statements is mentioned as a reason for people to repeat a rumour?A. They are too willing to believe.B. They take an interest in rumour.C. They have a strong desire to make a fool of other people.D. They find some rumours reflect their own unexpressed beliefs.CThe publication of "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince" gladdens booksellers across China. The British and American editions were No. 1 and No. 3 respectively on the sales chart of the Beijing Xidan Book Building last week. The book's poster is highlighted and news about the book can often be heard on the radio. Why is the book so attractive to children? With curious mood, the author got a copy of "Harry Potter". Originally, I wanted to glance over it and made some criticisms. But, out of expectation, the author has been deeply attracted by the magic world. On the other hand, one cannot help asking: where is our own "Harry Potter"?The Chinese nation has a history of 5,000 years, which cannot be regarded as short and its culture as not profound. With a vast market of youngsters, China did publish many books popular among children. However, why are the present works not as good as those imported? There come two major reasons: Firstly, quite a number of children's books are of strong sense of teaching, and lack interest and entertainment. Children often have a feeling of being "educated". No wonder they don't like them. Secondly, children's reading materials involving "idiom stories" and "Chinese talents' stories", though always in different covers, are usually much the same or plagiarized. One knows the ending as early as in the beginning. In final analysis, the authors of the books seldom take children's requirements into consideration. As a matter of fact, each child has his own wonderful imagination. They long to understand the world and nature. Similarly they have their own choices. They dislike similar stories, even if thestories are excellent. First-class reading for children should be very interesting, which contains knowledge and the essence of national culture, which are presented in children's language.Market is a touchstone for products. The theory also holds true for cultural products. It is hoped that the authors of children's books can learn something from the good market of "Harry Potter" and write out more and better books loved by children.9. The disadvantages of our books are the following except____A. they have little sense of interest and entertainmentB. many of our books are of the sameC. the authors didn’t pay much attention to the children’s tastes.D. Our authors never know what our children need.10. The reason why the imported book is so popular is that _____.A. it has no sense of teachingB. it opens a wonderful world for children to exploreC. it is only written in children’s languageD. it is advertised more on TV or poster.11. What’s the feeling of the writer when he finishes reading “Harry Potter”?A. He is so angry that he wants to criticize the bookB. He is also attracted by the bookC. He is shocked by the book, meanwhile he is worried about our books.D. He can’t help looking for Ha rry Potter.12. What does the writer mean by writing “where’s our own Harry Potter”?A. We are short of books for childrenB. We Chinese must produce books as popular as “Harry Potter”.C. Authors should write books in the same way as “Harry Potter”D. Our authors are hoped to make the market of our books for children take offDAmericans have never before exercised and dieted as eagerly as they are doing today. As a result, they do not only look younger and slimmer, but feel better. Because of increased physical fitness, life expectance in the nation has risen to seventy-three years, with fewer people suffering from heart disease, the nation's number one killer.Jogging ( 慢跑), the easiest and cheapest way of improving the body, keeps over 30millionpeople of all ages on the run. For the price of a good pair of running shoes, anyone anywhere can join the race.Dieting, too, has become a national pastime. Promoters of diets that eliminate eating one thing or another, such as fats or carbohydrates ( 碳水化合物), promise as much as 20- pound weight losses within two weeks. Books describing such amazing diets always head up ( 居……之首)the best-seller lists because people who are overweight want to lose weight quickly and easily.Nevertheless, jogging and dieting, carried to extremes, can be harmful. Many confused joggers overdo and finally suffer from ankle and foot damage. Dieting, fortunately, becomes only a temporary means for shedding a few pounds while the body lose the balanced nutrition ( 营养)it requires, so most dieters cannot keep on diets. Above all, common sense should be the keystone for any dieting and exercise plan.13.The main idea of this passage is that___________ .A. both jogging and dieting can improve your healthB. exercise and improved diet has raised the American's life expectanceC. people, who jog and diet wisely, will be healthier than those who do notD. diet and exercise harm rather than benefit health14.According to the passage, which of the following statements is TRUE?A. Exercise and diet are more widespread in America than ever before.15.It is implied but not stated that ___________ .A. heart disease is the number one killer among AmericansB. exercise and dieting bring about spiritual as well as physical well-beingC. people don't stay on a diet because it doesn't workD. a 20-pound weight loss within two weeks is too much for the body16. The best title for this passage is ___________ .A. Jogging and Diet B .Exercise and HealthC. Physical FitnessD. Life Expectancy and DietEComputers are very important to modern life. Many people think that in the futurecomputers will be used in lots of everyday life.It is thought that we won’t have to go shopping because we will be able to get most things which are sold in shops on the Internet. There will be no more books because we will be able to get all texts from computers. The Internet will be used to play games, see films and buy food. Most telephone calls will be made by computers, too. Some people are glad about those new ways of shopping and communicating.Others do not think that computers will replace our old ways. Some people think that one day we will not read books made of paper. Instead, we will buy and read books using computers, which will keep many different books in them at the same time.We won’t need to turn lots of pages and paper will be saved.Computerized books will be used more and more. While many people say it is a pleasure to go into shops and look at things you want to buy.It is also unlikely that many people will want to read large texts on our computers. 高考英语二轮复习阅读练习1:Fear and its companion pain are two of the most useful things that man and animals possess if they are used. If fire didn’t hurt when it burned, children would play with it until their hands were burned away. Similarly, if pain existed but fear didn’t, a child could burn itself again and again because fear would not warn it to keep away from the fire that had burnt it before. Areally fearless soldier—and some do exist—is not a good soldier because he is soon killed; and a dead soldier is of no use to his army. Fear and pain are therefore two guards without which man and animals might soon die out.In our first sentence we suggested that fear ought to be properly used. If, for example, you never go out of your house because of the danger of being knocked down and killed in the street bya car, you are letting fear rule you too much. The important thing is not to let fear rule you, but instead, to use fear as your servant and guide. Fear will warn you of dangers; then you haveto decide what action to take.In many cases, you can take quick and successful action to avoid the danger. For example, you see a car coming straight towards you; fear warns you, you jump out of the way, and all is well.In some cases, however, you decide that there is nothing that you can do to avoid the danger. For example, you cannot prevent an airplane crashing into your house, and you may not want to goand live in a desert where there are no airplanes. In this case, fear has given you its warning, you have examined it and decided on your course of action, so fear of the particular danger isno longer of any use to you, and you have to try to overcome it.60. Children would play with fire until their hands are burnt away if _________.A. they were not well educated at schoolB. they had never played with fire beforeC. they had no sense of painD. they were fearful of pain61. People sometimes succeed in timely avoiding danger because _________.A. they have gained experienceB. they are warned of the danger and take quick actionC. they jump out of the way in timeD. they are calm in face of danger62. What is implied but not stated in the passage?A. Too much fear is harmfulB. Fear is always something helpfulC . Fear is something that can be avoidedD. Fear ought to be used as our guide in our life63. The best title for this passage should be __________.A. No Pains, No GainsB. Pain and ActionsC. The Value of Fear D . There is an increased threat of infection of disease from polluted waste, and from eating fish that swallowed waste. Divers canalso get trapped in the plastic. Its existence first gained public attention in l997. That was when racing boat captain and oceanographer Charles Moore and his crew sailed into the garbage while returning from a racing event. Five years earlier, another oceanographer learned of the trash after a shipment of rubber duckies got lost at sea. Many of those toys are now part of the Great Pacific Ocean Garbage Patch. In August,2009,a team from the University of California,San Diego became thelatest group to travel to it. open her door, the man seized her by the neck and hair, and threw her out of the car onto the ground. She screamed, grabbing her purse and the keys. Two reporters of the local newspaper,Robert Bruce and Jeff Jackson, just outside their office building on a break, heard the screams and began running. When they reached Neilson’s car,the attacker had jumped into the driver’s seat and was madly searching Moldovan has lived here seven years as a caregiver to Italian kids and the elderly, but in order to stay she’s had to prove her language skills by taking a test which requires her to write a postcard to an imaginary friend and answer a fictional job ad.Italy is the latest Western European country trying to control a growing immigrant(移民) population by demanding language skills in exchange for work permits,or in some cases, citizenship. Some immigrant advocates worry that as hard financial times make it more difficult for natives to keep jobs, such measures will become more a vehicle for intolerance than integration(融合).Others say it’s only natural that newcomers learn the language of their host nation, seeing it as a condition to ensure they can contribute to society.Other European countries laid down a similar requirement for immigrants, and some terms are even tougher. The governments argue that this will help foreigners better join the society and promote understanding across cultures.Italy, which has a much weaker tradition of immigration, has witnessed a sharp increase in immigration in recent years. In 1990,immigrants numbered some 1.14 million out of Italy’s then 56.7 million peo ple,or about 2 percent. At the start of this year, foreigners living in Italy amounted to 4.56 million of a total population of 60.6 million,or 7.5 percent, with immigrants’ children accounting for an ever larger percentage of births in Italy.Cojochru, the Moldovan caregiver, hoped obtaining permanent residence(居住权) would help her bring her two children to Italy;they live with her sister in Moldova, where salaries are among the lowest in Europe. She was skeptical that the language requirement would encourage integration.Italians always “see me as a foreigner,” an outsider, even though she’s stayed in the country for years and can speak the local language fluently, she said.4.Why does Cojochru have to take a language test?A.To continue to stay in Italy.B.To teach her children Italian.C.To find a better job in Italy.D.To better mix with the Italians.5.Some people worry that the new language requirement may .A.reduce Italy’s population quicklyB.cause conflicts among peopleC.lead to financial difficultiesD.put pressure on schools6.What do we know about Cojochru?A.She lives with her sister now in Italy.B.She enjoys learning the Italian language.C.She speaks Italian well enough for her job.D.She wishes to go back to her home country.C(·浙江五校联考)Filled with much housework, meals and childcare at home, many people feel that being at work sounds more like having a picnic.Even for those who have a happy family life, they feel actually more stressed at home than at work.Recently,a study carried out by the researchers at a university in the USA found lower levels of hormone(荷尔蒙) released in response to stress in a majority of subjects when they were at work compared to when they were at home. This was true for both men and women, and parents and people without children. Both men and women showed less stress at work. But women are more likely to report feeling happier there.Men were more l ikely to feel happier at home.Experts say there are other reasons why work is less stressful than home for many.“Paid work is more valued in society,”said Sarah Damaske, the lead researcher on the study.“Household work is boring and not particularly rewarding.”We get better at our job with time and the increased competence means less stress and more r ewards.Yet none of us,no matter how long we’ve been doing it,ever truly feels like an expert at parenting or even at marriage. The support and friendship of co-workers also offer stress relief.Athome, meanwhile, stress spreads and increases quickly.“That’s the reason why most housewives wish they were the bread earners,” Dr.Damaske says.Much of the advice to families and couples includes the warning to “leave work stress at office” and even to change our mind-set from work to home, for example,a walk aroundthe block. The recent findings, though, suggest our home life, not our attitude, might be due for some change.7.According to Paragraph 1,many people feel that being at home .A.is like having a picnicB.is an ideal way to manage stressC.offers greater relaxation than at workD.can bring more stress than in the workplace8.According to Sarah Damaske,.A.men feel happier at work than work?A.Recognition of the value of their work.B.A good management of their marriage.C.Much competition among colleagues.D.Forgetting the stress from family life.10.According to the recent 2017届高考英语二轮复习强化训练02阅读理解2 Word版含解析

强化训练02阅读理解(二)(45分钟,100分)ACertainly, a well-rounded education is the foundation from which all of us spring forth. But, sometimes I wonder if the outline of our educational plan is lacking something. I watched the movie Easy A with my older daughter. The main character's parents were loving, supportive, and built great confidence in their daughter and developed her ability to handle her own problems. There was a scene where the mother was speaking to the younger child and he announced that he received an “A” on his spelling test. She replied. “That's great, honey, but everything has spell check these days.” It was fu nny-but TRUE! I worry that our kids do not know how to relate to one another.Choosing a career is a daunting task. My daughter is in her second year in college and has changed her major twice. 二轮复习高考英语阅读理解训练经典题目(附答案)一、高中英语阅读理解1.阅读理解An aspirin a day keeps the doctor awayDr. Tim Johnson discusses evidence of a daily dose of aspirin's benefits. That's not the saying, but doctors have agreed, for about a generation, that an aspirin a day is good for you. It may reduce the risk of heart attacks or strokes by 20 percent or more. The US Preventive Services Task Force, an independent group convened by the Department of Health and Human Services, has published guidelines that it says should end the confusion. The key points:⒈Men should start a daily aspirin at age 45, mainly to protect against heart attacks.⒉Women should start at 55, mainly to protect against stroke.⒊For both sexes, a baby aspirin-typically 81 milligram a day-will do the job. There is no evidence that a large dose makes a difference.⒋And both sexes should stop by age 80, unless their doctors say otherwise. As you get older, there's a greater risk of bleeding in the brain or the digestive system, a risk that is small but can be deadly in some cases. If people start taking aspirin as the guidelines, doctors say their risk of heart attacks will drop by about 20 percent. "People may ask themselves 'Am I at risk for a heart attack or a stroke?'" said Dr. Randal Thomas, director of cardiovas-cular health at the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota "If you are age 45 and male, if you're above age 55 and female, the answer is most likely yes, and you will most likely benefit from taking a small dose of aspirin a day.(1)What might Dr. Tim Johnson think of taking an aspirin a day?A. 2017年高考英语阅读理解专题练习及答案(2)

2017年高考英语阅读理解专题练习及答案(2)(三)The brown bearMy wife Laura and I were on the beach, with three of our children, taking pictures of shore birds near our home in Alaska when we spotted a bear. The bear was thin and small, moving aimlessly.Just a few minutes later, I heard my daughter shouting, “Dad! The bear is right behind us!” An aggressive bear will usually rush forwards to frighten away its enemy but would suddenly stop at the last minute. This one was silent and its ears pinned back—the sign(迹象) of an animal that is going in for the kill. And it was a cold April day. The bear behaved abnormally, probably because of hunger.I held my camera tripod(三脚架) in both hands to form a barrier as the bear rushed into me. Its huge head was level with my chest and shoulders, and the tripod stuck across its mouth. It bit down and I found myself supporting its weight. I knew I would not be able to hold it for long.Even so, this was a fight I had to win: I was all that stood between the bear and my family, who would stand little chance of running faster than a brown bear. The bear hit at the camera, cutting it off the tripod. I raised my left arm to protect my face; the beast held tightly on the tripod and pressed it into my side. My arm could not move, and I sensed that my bones were going to break.Drawing back my free hand, I struck the bear as hard as I could for five or six times. The bear opened its mouth and I grasped its fur, trying to push it away. I was actually wrestling(扭打) with the bear at this point. Then, as suddenly as it had begun, the fight ended. The bear moved back towards the forest, before returning for another attack—the first time I felt panic.Apparently satisfied that we caused no further threat, the bear moved off, destroying a fence as it went. My arm was injured, but the outcome for us could hardly have been better. I'm proud that my family remained clearheaded when panic could have led to a very different outcome.60. The brown bear approached the family in order to ________.A. catch shore birdsB. start an attackC. protect the childrenD. set up a barrier for itself61. The bear finally went away after it ________.A. felt safeB. got injuredC. found some foodD. took away the camera62. The writer and his family survived mainly due to their ________.A. prideB. patienceC. calmnessD. cautiousness【要点综述】本文是一篇故事,介绍的是“我”和全家人在海滩上拍照时突遇一头棕熊的遭遇。

随堂训练1(2015·嘉兴二模) While other countries debate whether to fix wind turbines(涡轮机)offshore or in distant areas, Denmark is building them right in its capital. Three windmills(风车)were recently introduced in a Copenhagen neighbourhood, and the city plans to add another 97.“We’ve made a very ambitious commitment to make Copenhagen CO2-neutral by 2025, ”Frank Jensen, the mayor, says. “But going green isn’t only a good thing. It’s a must. ”The city’s carbon-neutral plan, passed two years ago, will make Copenhagen the world’s first zero-carbon capital. With wind power making up 33% of Denmark’s energy supply, the country already features plenty of wind turbines. Indeed, among the first sights greeting airborne visitors during the landing at Copenha gen’s Kastrup airport is a chain of sea-based wind towers. By 2020, the windswept country plans to get 50% of its energy from wind power. Now turbines are moving into the city and these ones will cost less than half the price of those sea-based. Having the energy production closer makes it cheaper, and land-based turbines are the cheapest possible source of energy available today. Fixing them also makes the locals more aware of their energy consumption.Though considerably less attractive than it was in ancient times, thewindmill is enjoying popularity in the 21st century. “Windmills are a symbol of the new and clean Copenhagen, ”says resident Susanne Sayers. Meanwhile, fellow Copenhagen citizen Maria Andersen worries about the noise, explaining that she wouldn’t want a wind turbine in her neighbourhood. While Copenhagen citizens approve of the windmills, they’re less willing to live close to one. The answer, the city has decided, is to sell turbine shares. Each share represents 1, 000 kW hours/year, with the profit tax-free. With a typical Copenhagen household consuming 3, 500 kW hours/year, a family buying four shares effectively owns its own renewable energy supply. To date, 500 residents have bought 2, 500 shares. Involving the local population was a s mart move. “There are a lot of things you can do close to people if it’s not too big and if there’s a model where locals feel involved and get to share in the profit. Knowing that you, or your neighbours, own a technology creates a very different atmosphere than if a multinational owned it, ”says Vad Mathiesen.Going green? Yes. Accepted by the population? Yes. Going with centuries-old city architecture? Hardly.Certainly, the three turbines don’t exactly blight the 18th-century city centre, as they are in a neighbourhood 3 km away. According to the mayor’s office, none of the remaining 97 turbines will rise in architecturally sensitive areas. But Sascha Haselmayer, CEO of city creation groupCitymart, warns, “With Denmark being a world-leading producer of windmills, there is a risk that the answer to every energy question is windmills. ”“We’ve destroyed mountains and lakes in order to support our lifestyle, ”notes Irena Bauman, an architect and professor at Sheffield University. “Wind turbines are a sign that we’re learning to live with nature.I hope we’ll have them all over the world, ”she says. “They may be unpleasant to some, but better-looking ones will come. It’s just that we don’t have time to wait for them! ”【文章大意】本文讲述的是丹麦首都哥本哈根建造风车发电来减少碳的排放, 以倡导绿色的生活方式。

阅读理解训练(2)AWhen Paul was a boy growing up in Utah, he happened to live near a copper smelter (炼铜厂), and the chemicals that poured out had made a wasteland out of what used to be a beautiful forest. One day a young visitor looked at this wasteland and called it an awful area. Paul knocked him down. From then on, something happened inside him. Years later Paul was back in the area, and he went to the smelter office. He asked if they had any plans or if they would let him try to bring the trees back. The answer from that big industry was “No”.Paul then went to college to study the science of plants. Unfortunately, his teachers said there weren’t any birds or squirrels to spread the seeds. It would be a waste of his life to try to do it. Everyone knew that, he was told. Even if he was knowledgeable as he had expected, he wouldn’t get his idea accepted.Paul later got married but his dream would not die. And then one night he did what he could with what he had. As Samuel Johnson wrote, “It is common to overlook what is near by keeping the eye fixed on something remote. Attainable good is often ignored by minds busied in wide ranges.” Under the cover of darkness, he went secretly into the wasteland and started planting. And every week, he made his secret journey into the wasteland and planted trees and grass. For fifteen years he did this against the plain common sense. Slowly rabbits appeared. Later, as there was legal pressure to clean up the environment, the company actually hired Paul to do what he was already doing. Now the place is fourteen thousand acres of trees and grass and bushes, and Paul has received almost every environmental award Utah has. It took him until his hair turned white, but he managed to keep that impossible vow (誓言) he made to himself as a child.21.When Paul was a boy, _______.A. he had decided never to leave his hometownB. the economy of Utah depended wholly on the copper smelterC. he hit a young visitor because of his comments on the wastelandD. he stopped the copper smelter polluting the area22.Paul went to college to study the science of plants, because _______.A. he wanted to find out the best way to save the area himselfB. he was interested in planting trees since he was youngC. he wanted to get more knowledgeable people to help himD. he thought his knowledge would make his advice more convincing23.What does the underlined phrase “the plain common sense” probably mean?A. It was impossible for trees to grow on the wasteland.B. His normal work and life would be greatly affected.C. No one would like to join him in the efforts.D. He had to keep everything he did secret.24.The company hired Paul to plant trees and grass because_______.A. they realized the importance of environmental protectionB. what Paul was doing moved themC. Paul persuaded them to help himD. they had legal pressure参考答案A篇21-24 CDADBMusic died here last spring, or rather, it was killed by members of the school committee who ignored the importance of music and drama as part of the high-school curriculum (课程).The committee decided that teaching students how to take a standardized test is more important than a curriculum in which students can explore their interests in the arts as well as academics. Because the school system is running out of funding, it needs to make sure that students pass the test or even more money will be lost. If students fail the state standardized test,it is not the fault of drama and music classes—they are failing because the “academic” classes are not sufficient (充足的).It is painful to think of how many students will be discouraged from singing, acting, and playing instruments because school programs are no longer offered. Many families cannot afford private music lessons, and many potential musicians and artists may not find their calling if they are not exposed to it in school. The fact that the school committee thinks the arts are not worth the investment will certainly make some students believe the arts are not worth their time or support and the cycle will continue.Teaching for a test does not shape students into complete, well-rounded people. It blocks the natural sense to create and express feelings through art—there is more to life than the analytical thinking that math and English provide. What happens after a test? Sure, a student might graduate, but they will have limited knowledge—certainly not a good preparation for the real world.25. Music and drama are not included in the high school curriculum mainly because________.A. the school committee pays no attention to themB. the school is afraid of losing financial supportC. the students are not interested in both of themD. the state standardized test is more important26. Which of the following is TRUE according to the passage?A. The sufficiency of the classes determines students’ performance in the masterytest.B. Quite a few students are discouraged from learning music and art in today’sschool system.C. Students can be musicians and artists only if they can afford private musiclessons.D. The school committee completely influences students’attitude towards the arts.27. We can learn that music and art can ________.A. motivate students in creativity and expressionB. make students round-shaped people in futureC. provide students with analytical thinkingD. prevent students graduation from high school28. The best title of the passage can be ________.A. Who killed music and drama?B. Can curriculum go without music?C. Why is music so important?D. How to prepare for the real world?参考答案B篇25-28 BBABCFor more than 40 years, scientists have sought to learn how well human beings can adapt to long periods in space. The International Space Station continues to provide valuable knowledge about spaceflight. But an earlier space station, Skylab, helped make the current space project possible.Canadian astronaut Chris Hadfield sang aboard the International Space Station on May 12, 2013. His music video has become extremely popular. The astronaut played his own version of David Bowie’s s ong Space Oddity. He performed while floating weightlessly, with images of planet earth and space appearing in the window behind him.Chris Hadfield recently returned home after nearly five months on the space station. For him, the long flight produced a hit video on YouTube and no major physical problems. But 40 years ago, scientists did not know how humans would react to long-term spaceflight. To find out, NASA, the American space agency, launched Skylab in May, 1973. Over nearly a year, three teams of astronauts visited Skylab for stays of between 28 to 84 days. They learned how people react to extended periods in space.Gerald Carr commanded Skylab 4. He spoke at a NASA event marking the 40th anniversary of Skylab’s launch. He said that the loss of the body’s muscle mass was a main concern. Astronauts on Skylab used exercise equipment to stay strong. The astronauts spent their workdays carrying out experiments, including biomedical (生物医学的) research.Marshall Porterfield is the director of NASA’s Space Life and Physical Sciences Division. He says the Skylab astronauts’ understanding of their own ability to deal with long-term spaceflight continues to help current astronauts. NASA says the next step for life away from Earth is a year-long space station mission, set for 2015.29. Why was Chris Hadfield’s song so special?A. It was performed in space.B. It was created by an astronaut.C. It was a very familiar song.D. It was first sung by a famous singer.30. Which of the following best describes the physical condition of Chris Hadfieldafter his return?A. Worse.B. Better.C. Normal.D. Weaker.31. For what purpose did NASA launch Skylab?A. To research on whether human beings could stay in space.B. To gather up information on setting up a space station.C. To study the changes in the body when staying long in space.D. To find out the possibility of doing experiments in space.32. What can we learn from the last paragraph?A. Skylab is still in use to explore the space.B. The research results on Skylab are still valuable.C. Skylab is more advanced than the International Space Station.D. The Skylab astronauts made great contributions to biomedical research.参考答案C篇 29-32 ACCBDSuppose you are thinking about attending college in the United States, but perhaps you might not be ready for a university with a four-year program. About 88,000 international students have found solution. They are attending U.S. community colleges. Such colleges are sometimes called junior colleges. They offer two years of education above the secondary or high school level.Community college students can choose from subjects like medical assistance, computer science or law. At the end of their study program, they receive a document of completion, called a certificate. Some students work toward an associate degree in traditional academic subjects like science or history. After getting it, the students can move on to a four-year college or university. They may have only twoyears of study left before they receive a bachelor’s degree. Many educational experts agree that saving money is the major reason to consider a community college. The American Association of Community Colleges (AACC) says that a public two-year college costs 3,000 dollar a year on average. That is true if the student lives in the same state as the school. A student at a four-year public college may pay 8,500 dollars a year for classes and user fees. That does not include books and other materials. Some international students may need more preparation in English before entering a community college in the United States. For example, Istrif Montgomery came to the U.S. from Kosovo in 2006. First, he worked to improve his English at Montgomery College for a year. Then for the next two years, he attended classes in basic subjects in a community college. The international students at two-year colleges need to find a place to live. Most community colleges do not provide student housing on their grounds. But Mr Montgomery had a home nearby. He was able to ride the bicycle, and he was able to walk if he wanted. In fact, most community college students live within five to ten miles off the college.33. W hat’s the biggest advantage of a community college?A. The classes are free of charge.B. The students can save much time.C. The students can save a lot of money.D. It is convenient for students to live in the college.34. Which of the following is TRUE according to the passage?A. Mr Montgomery usually goes to school on foot.B. Most students in community colleges don’t live far away.C. 8,500 dollars covers all the cost of a four-year public college.D. International students often attend a community college directly.35. What’s the main purpose of the passage?A. To encourage students to study abroad.B. To tell the international students how to save money.C. To tell us it’s a good choice to study in public colleges.D. To give some information about community colleges.参考答案D篇33-35 CBD。
