第一部分必修二Module 3Ⅰ.阅读理解A(2015·山西省太原五中高三月考)导学号 02280220 Both of Jessica's parents were lawyers and expected her to follow suit. So she went to law school, got a job at a great firm in Washington, DC, and worked as a lawyer for a decade. But her heart was never in it. “I had a big salary but no personal satisfaction,” she says.Jessica found pleasure in the same thing that had brought her joy since joining the church choir at the age of 12. “Singing always felt like communicating something real at a spiritual and emotional level,” says Jessica. Yet she never considered it a career option. “That seemed like something people did in fairy tales, and I would never let my parents down,” she says.It was her mom's diagnosis of brain cancer in 2009 that made Jessica realize she had to write her own happy-ever-after. “Work was busy and my mother was ailing. So I was flying back and forth from Washington, DC to Houston to see her,” Jessica says. “I finally said,‘Enough!’and quit.” While caring for her mom, Jessica made a plan. She would spend her savings and study music for a year, and then open a part-time law practice so she could pursue her passion. Before her mother passed away two years later, she encouraged Jessica to follow her dream. Her song Live This Life was inspired by her mom, and her dad came to watch her perform at clubs. In 2012, Jessica moved to Nashville to try singing and songwriting. A decade of presenting cases in court gave her the confidence to sing for a crowd. “At 20, I would have been too shy to perform,” says Jessica.“Doing music is so free,” Jessica says. “There's no pressure to be a star. Success, to me, isn't a dollar amount or a record deal; it's doing what I love.”语篇解读:本文讲述了Jessica听从当律师的父母的话成为一名律师,虽然工资高可是她并不开心。

阅读下列短文, 从给的四个选项(A、B、C和D) 中, 选出最佳选项。

(2014·长春模拟)While tofu is a household name in Asia, it has still not beencompletely accepted into the Western kitchen. When it arrived in theWest, tofu found itself sitting alone in the food playground, ignored bythe other kids. And when tofu did make friends, it was only with theopen-minded, peace-loving vegetarians sometimes referred toas“hippies”.Why is it that such a staple(主要的)ingredient in the East has beensubject to(遭受)such discrimination in the West? Well, tofu quite literally(简直)missed the boat. Tofu originated in China some 2, 000 years ago. But when the Europeans first arrived in China they ignored it. While rice was embraced with open arms and brought home with popular acclaim(称赞), tofu followed later and with much less success.Growing up in Australia I only had a vague notion of what tofu was. It was just last year, when I lived in the Dutch town of Maastricht, that we were really introduced. In that town, lots of students choose to live in“squats”—old run-down factories rented out for very cheap prices. One of these s quats holds a“Vegan Dinner”every Monday. In the dishes served there, tofu was a staple and I found that I quite liked it!Slowly but surely tofu is becoming accepted into mainstream Western cooking circles. In March, the singer Justin Timberlake dressed up in a tofu suit for a sketch(短剧)on NBC’s show Saturday Night Live to promote the silky food. And notable UK food experts such as Nigel Slater and Fuchsia Dunlop are singing tofu’s praises as well. As Slater writes in an article published in The Guardian, “I think the Chinese know what they are talking about and I must give their beloved dou-fu(yet)another chance”. He found that when cooked with chilli, garlic and ginger, tofu was a very welcome guest at his dinner party!【文章大意】豆腐越来越受西方人的青睐, 它是怎样做到如此受欢迎的呢?1. 第一部分必修三Unit 2Ⅰ.阅读理解导学号01830487(2015·沈阳一模) Being physically active three times a week reduces the odds of being depressed by about 16%, according to new UCL research carried out as part of the Public Health Research Centre. The study, published in JAMA Psychiatry, found a two-way relationship between depression and physical activity. People who increased their weekly activity were reported to have fewer depressive symptoms but those with more depressive symptoms were less active, particularly at younger ages.Researchers followed 11,135 people born in 1958 up until the age of 50, recording depressive symptoms and levels of physical activity at regular intervals in adulthood. They found that each additional activity period per week reduced odds of depression by 6%. In England 19% of men and 26% of women are currently classed as “inactive”,and this study suggests that activity could significantly improve their mental as well as physical health.“Assuming the association is causal, physical activity has a protective effect against depressio n. If an adult between his twenties and forties who isn't physically active became active 3 times per week, he would reduce his risks of depression by about 16%,”said Dr Snehal of the UCL Institute of Child Health, lead author of the study.Professor Mark, Director of the Public Health Research Centre, said: “Many people are already aware of the benefits of physical activity on their general health, but now we are seeing more evidence that suggests it also has a positive effect on a person's mental well-being. The latest research highlights just how important it is to ensure that people are working and living in environments that allow them to be both physically active and mentally healthy.”文章大意:最新研究表明,增加每周锻炼身体的次数,能降低人们患上抑郁症的风险。
