它既有动词的特征,又有名词的特征,故称动名词。

动名词也有时态和语态的变化,如表所示(以及物动词write为例),不及物动词没有语态的变化。

动词ing形式作主语通常表示抽象的或习惯性的动作。

也可用t作形式主语,动词-ing形式作真正的主语放在句末。

高一英语:决定高考成败的关键期
——浅谈高中英语学习与初中的不同
蔡圣博身为新东方高中英语教师,在教学过程中,我们总会发现一个现象,即大量学生中考英语分数较高,但是进入高中,则出现英语成绩下滑,甚至大不如前的情况。

本文从笔者自身经验出发,旨在探讨学生英语成绩在初高中阶段形成巨大反差的原因,及其应对措施。

针对以上情况的出现,追根溯源,我们往往会注意到高一这一关键时期。

高中英语和初中英语,在多种层面上具有巨大的不同,而如果没有在高一上学期期中考试前意识到这种不同并且及时适应,高中英语学习将会越来越困难,学生信心受到严重打击,甚至到了高三积重难返,无法挽回。

说到英语学习,无论是初中还是高中,它的基础有两个,即词汇和语法,英语学习的问题,一定出现在这两个环节。

首先,就单词层面而言。

初中阶段,我们需要掌握的单词量有1700个,而进入高中阶段,要求掌握的词汇量上升至3500个,词汇在数量上的急剧上升,将会导致学生在学习过程中的不适应,长难词的增加,也会进一步加重学生的记忆负担。

以上仅仅是从数量上进行考量,而从词汇学习的深度来看,高中对于词汇的考察不再像初中一样,集中于考察词汇中文释义,而是更多地集中于词义的辨析、一词多义以及熟词僻义现象。

以2009年天津高考完形填空第19题B选项“study”为例,初中时代本词意为“学习”,但是在天津高考当中,它出现最多的义项为“研究”义,而了解到这一层面依然不够,在09年完形当中,“study”意为“仔细端详”。

大多数考生根本不了解“study”的这一义项,导致在本题上出现失分。

高中词汇的广度与深度的拓展,往往导致刚刚步入高一的同学无法快速适应,而对于词汇考点把握的不准确,也将会导致背了单词,但考试当中依然无法准确认知其考法,大量失分的现象。

其次,就语法层面而言,许多高中阶段的语法现象在初中就已经接触过,但是和词汇一样,高中对于语法的考察数量增多,且在考试当中更加注重考察语法的本质和一些特殊情况,学生如果在高中依然使用初中死记硬背的语法知识,无法达到灵活运用,考试中失分就是不可避免的了。

比如,初中要求掌握6个时态,高中明确要求掌握10个,天津曾经考过11个。

难度也有很大幅度的提升,在很多情况下,学生无法像初中一样,通过记住相应的时间状语直接选择时态。

再如定语从句,学生在初中便接触过,但是那是最简单的一种,高中要求掌握大量关系代词比如which that as who whom,whose关系副词when where why等等,还会加入介词+关系代词等等复杂的情况。

情态动词初中只涉及本意,但是高中情态动词是一个难点,因为它已经不考本意,考的是它非常复杂的推测含义和特殊用法。

到此处,我们会发现高中英语是一个非常丰富且复杂的体系,很难短期把握。

这就是为什么,很多刚进入高中的高一新生觉得英语考前背一背就好,结果考得稀烂的原因。

并不是学生水平变差了,而是就现在这个知识状况而言,那种所谓初中的知识和方法已经不能适应了。

故而学生必须在中考结束,高中开始前就清楚地认识到这一情况,做好充分的心里预期和知识储备。

从词汇角度来说,面对高中课本大量的新词难词,学生必须做到心中有数,即哪些词汇是曾经在平时考试和最后的高考中曾经出现且出现频率较高的,哪些词汇基本没有出现过,考察的极少的,以减轻记忆负担,有针对性地背记单词,新东方在高中英语教学过程中,通过科学计算高考单词考频,极为精准地筛选掉考频低的单词,使学习单词的数量下降20%
左右。

同时,每一个重点单词曾经从哪些角度考察过,又考察过它的何种词性和用法,更是新东方优能高中英语非常关注的问题。

故而必须重新审视语法,将每一个琐碎的知识点纳入语法体系构架中,从体系角度学习和体会语法,以期为将来的阅读写作等分项打好基础。
