The task John set for himself was to remove harmful substances from some sludge (污泥). First, he constructed a series of clear fiberglass tanks connected to each other. Then he went around to local ponds and streams and brought back some plants and animals. He placed them in the tanks and waited. Little by little, these different kinds of life got used to one another and formed their own ecosystem. After a few weeks, John added the sludge.
“Ecological design” is the name John gives to what he does. “Life on Earth is kind of a box of spare parts for the inventor,” he says. “You put organisms in new relationships and observe what’s happening. Then you let these new systems develop their own ways to self-repair.”

2026新高考一卷英语听力原文

2026新高考一卷英语听力原文全文共6篇示例,供读者参考篇1Hi everyone! My name is Emily and I'm 10 years old. I'm going to tell you all about my life as a 5th grader. Get ready, because there's a lot to cover!First up, school. I go to Oakwood Elementary School right here in my hometown. I really like my teacher, Ms. Johnson. She's super nice and always makes learning fun. My favorite subjects are math and art. Math because I'm a total numbers nerd and art because I love being creative and making things look pretty. Some of my best friends at school are Lily, Aiden, and Jacob. We've known each other forever and are totally inseparable. We play together at recess every day – our favorite games are tag, jump rope, and四 (that's hopscotch for all you non-Chinese speakers out there). The four of us also have the best inside jokes. Like if one of us says "pineapple pizza" we immediately crack up because it reminds us of that funny time in 3rd grade when...oh, never mind, it's a long story. After school, I'm always busy with various activities. On Mondays, I have soccer practice. I'm a pretty decent soccer player if I do say so myself – I can dribble circles around most of the other kids. Tuesdays are for piano lessons. I've been taking piano for years and can play lots of pop songs, movie themes, you name it. I really want to learn how to compose my own music someday.Wednesday afternoons are my favorite because that's when my BFF Lily comes over to my house. We love doing arts and crafts together. Our latest hobby is making homemade jewelry out of beads and string and whatever random objects we can find lying around. So far I've made a necklace for my mom that's constructed partly from dried pasta. She wears it to work sometimes and gets lots of compliments!Thursdays I have ice skating lessons at the local rink. I'm not amazing yet, but I'm getting better every week. Backwards skating is still really hard for me though – I spend a lot of time falling on my butt! After my lessons, my dad sometimes takes me out for frozen yogurt as a treat. I really like the place that has lots of yummy toppings like gummy worms, sprinkles, chocolate syrup, you get the idea.Fridays are the best because there's no school the next day! That means I can stay up a little later watching movies or reading books. I'm a huge Harry Potter fan and have read all the books at least three times each. For movies, my favorite is The Princess Bride – I've probably seen it like 20 times but it never gets old. Kids' movies are obviously amazing too though. Have you seen the new Disney/Pixar one that just came out? The songs are so catchy!Weekends are everyone's favorite, am I right? I spend a lot of weekend time just hanging out with my parents, my little brother Tyler, and our dog Rufus. We'll go on hikes, have picnics at the park, bake cookies together, whatever. Tyler can be super annoying sometimes but I still love him. He's only 7 so I guess being annoying is just part of his current phase.Sleepovers are also a huge weekend highlight. Whether I'm having friends over to my place or going to someone else's house, you know we'll be up late watching movies, eating junk food, doing makeovers, telling scary stories, and all the other classic sleepover stuff. So much sugar, so little sleep – what could be better, right? One of my favorite weekend traditions is going out for Sunday brunch with my grandparents. We always go to thisdelicious little breakfast place downtown that has awesome pancakes, waffles, omelets, you name it. My grandpa lets me put as much syrup and whipped cream on my food as I want. No judgment!Another fun thing my family does together is take little road trips. We'll pick some location just a couple hours away and drive there for the day, exploring the town and seeing the sights. There are so many cool little cities and historical places near where I live. Two months ago we went to this colonial village reenactment place and it was actually really fascinating to see what life was like back then. History can be surprisingly not boring!Ok, I could probably go on forever about my hobbies, my pets, funny stories from school, you name it. But I should probably wrap this up because I have a ton篇2Hi everyone! My name is Emily and I'm 10 years old. I'm in the 5th grade at Oakwood Elementary School. Today I want to tell you all about my favorite subject - science! We just started a really cool new unit on the human body.Last week, we learned about the skeletal system. Did you know adults have 206 bones in their bodies? That might sound like a lot, but babies are actually born with even more - around 270! As we grow up, some of those bones fuse together. The longest bone in the human body is the femur, or thigh bone. The smallest bones are in our ears - they're called ossicles and there are three tiny ones in each ear.Our teacher taught us all the bones by having us make a life-size skeleton with art supplies. We used toilet paper rolls for the arm and leg bones, paper plates for the ribs, and a balloon for the skull. It was really fun putting it all together and helped me remember where all the bones go. Like the cranium protects your brain, the rib cage protects your heart and lungs, and your vertebrae support your whole spine. This week we started learning about the muscular system. There are over 600 muscles in the human body! Some of the biggest ones are your quadriceps on the front of your thighs, and your gluteus maximus, which are your butt muscles. But there are also lots of tiny muscles, like the ones that control your eyeballs and help you make expressions with your face.My favorite muscle is the tongue - it's made up of a group of 16 different muscles that let you stick it out, move it around, andeven shape it to make different sounds when you talk. Our teacher had us do some tongue twisters to experience how the tongue muscles work. My favorite is: "She sells sea-shells by the sea-shore." Try saying that 10 times really fast!We also learned that some muscles are involuntary, which means you don't have to think about controlling them - they just work automatically. Your heart is a big involuntary muscle that pumps blood through your body without you telling it to. The muscles that make your lungs inflate and deflate when you breathe are also involuntary.Other muscles are voluntary though, so you can control them by thinking about moving them. Like to make a fist, you consciously contract the muscles in your fingers and hand. Or to take a step forward, you contract your quadriceps to straighten your leg. Isn't that so cool how your brain can tell your muscles exactly what to do?Next week, we're going to start learning about the digestive system. I wonder if we'll get to make a model digestive tract out of pantyhose and plastic bottles like I've seen online? I'll have to let you know! But for now, I'm just going to keep exercising my muscles by running around at recess. See you next time!篇3Hi everybody! My name is Emma and I'm 10 years old. Today I want to tell you all about my summer vacation last year in 2025. It was the best summer ever!It started off with my birthday on June 21st. I had a big party with all my friends from school. We played games outside, had a bounce house, and my mom made my favorite cake - triple chocolate fudge! I got lots of cool presents too like a new bike, art supplies, and books.A few days after my party, my family went on our annual summer road trip. This year we drove up the Pacific Coast from our home in California all the way to Canada! The views were just breathtaking. Huge rocky cliffs dropping right into the bright blue ocean. Seals were sunbathing on the beaches and whales came up for air really close to our car as we drove along the coast. Our first stop was in Oregon at the amazing Crater Lake. It's a huge lake that formed inside a volcanic crater! The water is the most brilliant shade of blue I've ever seen. Almost unreal! We went hiking around the rim and had a picnic lunch. I fell in thelake when I tried skipping rocks...it was freezing cold since the lake is so deep and the water comes from snow melting. Brrrrr!Next we stayed a few nights in Seattle and went up in the really tall Space Needle tower. You can see the entire city from up there! We also went underground to explore some weird old city ruins that are underground. It was dark and spooky! My little brother got scared and started crying. We had to bribe him with ice cream to keep going, haha. From Seattle, we drove up into Canada and stayed in Vancouver for almost a week. We walked around the Capilano Suspension Bridge Park - there are these crazy long swinging bridges hanging from huge towering trees. I was a little scared at first because the bridges were so high up and kind of bouncy when people walked on them. But I got used to it and had a lot of fun "surfing" along holding the handrails. My favorite part was probably visiting the aquarium though. They had tutti colored tropical fish, jellyfish that seemed to glow with rainbow lights, playful sea otters, and huge beluga whales! We even got to go into an underwater tunnel and watch the whales swim just inches above our heads. It felt like we were underwater with them. I've never seen anything so amazing! On the drive home, we stopped at a really nice campground in the forest in Northern California. We went on a scary night hike using just our flashlights and saw bats flying around! During the day, we went kayaking down a river and saw a huge black bear lumbering along the riverbank. We all froze and held our breaths until it wandered back into the woods. Phew, that was exciting! When we finally made it back home after three incredible weeks on the road, I was so happy but also a little sad that our awesome summer vacation was over. I have so many fun memories from all the cool places we went and things we did. I can't wait to go on another big road trip next summer!Okay, I guess that's all for my story! Thanks for listening, friends. Don't forget to study hard so you can have excellent summer adventures too when you're older. See you next time!篇4My Favorite Things About SchoolHi! My name is Lily and I'm 8 years old. Today I want to tell you all about my favorite things related to going to school. Get ready because I have a lot to say!First up, my absolute favorite part of any school day is recess time! I love being able to run around outside and play games with my friends. We like to play tag, jump rope, and my personal favorite, hopscotch. The hopscotch court at my school is all cracked and faded but that makes it even more fun to me. I'm the hopscotch champion! My closest friend Emma is pretty good too though. We have competitions to see who can go the furthest without messing up.Recess is also the best time to eat snacks. I'm not a big fan of the school lunch but I do really enjoy my snacks. My mom lets me pick them out at the grocery store. My favorite snacks to have are fruit snacks, Goldfish crackers, and sometimes even a cookie or two! The snacks make me happy and give me energy to make it through the rest of the day.Another thing I absolutely love about school is my teacher, Mrs. Johnson. She has been my teacher for two years now since I'm in a combined first and second grade classroom. Mrs. Johnson is the nicest person ever! She is always smiling and laughing. She makes learning fun by letting us do activity projects and art assignments. We don't just sit at our desks and do worksheets all day.Last week, we learned about the life cycle of butterflies by each decorating a plastic cup with the butterfly stage written on it. We placed a little bead inside one of the cups to be the egg. Then we had to pass the bead along day by day to the next stage cup until it became a beautiful butterfly at the end! It was so neat.Mrs. Johnson also takes us on great field trips. My favorite was when we went to the fire station and got to try on the firefighter jackets and hats. They were sooo big and heavy on me! We even got to explore inside the fire truck. I loved getting to sit in the driver's seat and honk the horn. The firefighters said I looked like a cute little dalmatian puppy wearing their gear.In the classroom, I love anything having to do with art time. My favorite project was when we made crazy snazzy glasses out of pipecleaners and pom poms. They turned out so bright, colorful and funky! I still have mine displayed in my bedroom at home. For science, I loved when we made those colorful loop rainbows using cotton swabs. Getting to mix the different watercolor paints was messy but so fun.My least favorite part of the school day is probably math time. I just don't find it all that interesting. Maybe it's because I'm not very good at it yet. No matter how many times Mrs. Johnsonteaches us things like adding and subtracting or telling time, it just doesn't stick in my brain very well. The numbers all get jumbled up! I struggle a lot but I'm working really hard to get better. Math is important so I know I need to keep trying my best.In general though, I really do love going to school each day. My big brother Sam who is in 5th grade says he can't wait to go to middle school because there are more clubs and sports teams you can join. For now, I'm just happy being at my elementary school with my friends and my favorite teacher. I'm making so many fun memories that I'll never forget! School is the best.Well, I've rambled on enough about my school experiences. Thanks for listening! I'll talk to you again soon. Bye!篇5Hi there, friends! It's me, Timmy, your favorite little storyteller. Today, I'm going to share with you an exciting adventure that my best buddy, Teddy the bear, and I had last summer. Get ready for a wild ride filled with laughter, surprises, and maybe even a few life lessons along the way!It all started on a sunny morning when Mom and Dad told us we were going on a camping trip. Teddy and I were over themoon! We had never been camping before, and the thought of sleeping under the stars and roasting marshmallows by the campfire made our hearts race with anticipation. After packing our backpacks with all the essentials – snacks, flashlights, and our trusty compass – we hit the road. The drive seemed to last forever, but finally, we arrived at the most beautiful spot in the middle of the forest. The tall trees surrounded us, and the fresh air filled our lungs with a sense of adventure. As Dad set up our tent, Teddy and I decided to explore the area. We followed a little trail that led us to a bubbling stream. The water was so clear that we could see the tiny fish swimming around. Teddy wanted to jump in and join them, but I reminded him that bears don't make the best swimmers. After our mini-adventure, we returned to the campsite to find Mom cooking up a delicious dinner over the campfire. The aroma of grilled veggies and smoky hotdogs made our tummies rumble. We gobbled down our food and then gathered around the crackling flames for the best part of camping – s'mores! As the night fell, Dad told us spooky stories that sent shivers down our spines. Teddy got so scared that he hid inside mysleeping bag, peeking out only when the tales were over. We giggled and cuddled up, feeling safe and cozy in our little tent. The next morning, we woke up to the most incredible sight –a family of deer grazing just a few feet away from our campsite! They were so graceful and gentle, and Teddy couldn't resist trying to make friends with them. Sadly, they got spooked and bounded away, but it was still an amazing experience. After a hearty breakfast of pancakes and fresh fruit, we decided to go on a hike. Mom and Dad led the way as Teddy and I followed, marveling at the beauty of nature around us. We saw towering waterfalls, vibrant wildflowers, and even a few curious squirrels scampering across our path.As the day drew to a close, we were all exhausted but incredibly happy. We had created so many wonderful memories and learned a valuable lesson – sometimes the best adventures happen when you step outside and explore the great outdoors. On the drive back home, Teddy and I fell asleep, dreaming of our next camping trip and all the exciting adventures that awaited us. We couldn't wait to share our stories with our friends and plan our next outdoor escapade!Well, that's all for now, my friends. I hope you enjoyed my little tale and that it inspires you to get out there and create some amazing memories of your own. Until next time, this is Timmy and Teddy, signing off with big bear hugs!篇6Hi everyone! My name is Jamie and I'm a 10-year-old kid from New York City. I go to P.S. 107 which is a public elementary school in Brooklyn. I love learning new things every day and my favorite subjects are science and English. Today I want to tell you all about my awesome summer vacation! This past summer, my family took an amazing trip across the United States. We started in New York and then drove all the way to California! It took us almost a week with all the stops we made along the way. My dad is really into American history, so we visited a bunch of cool historical sites and landmarks. Our first big stop was in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. That's where the Founding Fathers signed the Declaration of Independence in 1776, declaring America's freedom from Britain. We went to see the Liberty Bell which is this huge, cracked bell that was rung after the Declaration was signed. It's kept in aspecial building with lots of other exhibits about the American Revolution.Next, we drove to Washington D.C., which is our nation's capital. We spent two whole days there because there's so much to see and do! We toured the White House, which is where the President lives and works. We also visited all the amazing museums like the National Air and Space Museum. My favorite was the National Museum of Natural History - I loved seeing the dinosaur fossils and learning about evolution. From D.C., we headed west towards Chicago. On the way, we stopped at the Wright Brothers National Memorial in Kitty Hawk, North Carolina. That's where Wilbur and Orville Wright successfully flew the first powered airplane in 1903. We got to walk along the same sandy beach where their historic flight happened over 120 years ago!Chicago was a fun city. We went up to the observation deck of the tallest skyscraper, the Willis Tower, and looked out over the whole city. We also went to the Field Museum of Natural History and saw the famous T-Rex named Sue, one of the most complete and best preserved Tyrannosaurus fossils ever found. After Chicago, we drove through the Great Plains states like Iowa, Nebraska, and Kansas. Everything was so flat and we sawtons of farms and cornfields! We stopped at the Gateway Arch in St. Louis, Missouri, which commemorates the westward expansion of America in the 1800s. You can actually go up inside the giant arch to the top viewing area.Once we reached Colorado, the landscape started getting super rocky and mountainous. We visited some national parks like the Rocky Mountain National Park. We went on a couple of hiking trails and saw elk, bighorn sheep, and beautiful alpine lakes and waterfalls. The scenery took my breath away!In Utah, we spent a day exploring Arches National Park near the city of Moab. It has over 2,000 natural sandstone arches sculpted by wind and rain over millions of years. We did a short hike through the Fiery Furnace area and I felt like I was on another planet with all the crazy rock formations. Our last national park stop was the Grand Canyon in Arizona. This enormous canyon carved into the earth by the Colorado River was definitely the most mind-blowing sight of the whole trip. We stayed until sunset and watched how the orange and red colors of the rocky cliffs kept changing as the sun went down. It was magical. Finally, we made it to our last destination - Los Angeles, California! We spent a couple days checking out all the coolattractions like the Hollywood Walk of Fame, the Santa Monica Pier, and the Griffith Observatory. My favorite part though was going to Universal Studios Hollywood and riding all the awesome movie-themed rollercoasters and shows. After two and a half weeks on the road, we were pretty exhausted but so happy we got to experience so much of America's history, culture, and beautiful landscapes. I took about a million photos and have so many amazing memories from this cross-country road trip adventure. I can't wait for my next big vacation!。

I wonder if you could tell me how to find a place to have my shoes mended. I’m new intown.M: Ah, there is a good shop not far from here. Go straight ahead and walk about three blocks. I can’tremember the name of the shop, but you’ll find it. It’s near the police station. By the way, you know about t he Town Guide? It’s a thin book and has all kinds of useful information. You’ll find one in any bookstore. W: Thanks a lot! You’ve been so helpful. Let’s see. Did you say the repair shop was three blocks away from here? Do you think it’s possible for us to talk sometime today?M: I’d love to, Miss Wilson, but I’ve got a pretty tight schedule today. I’ve got to finish reading the yearly financial report by 10. I’ll have to wait until tonight now, Isuppose.W: Well, I was posted there before, back in 2008. It’s OK — a bit like England, really. At least the weather is similar, and the people aren’t much different. The only thing I didn’t like is the food, especially the sausages. What do you intend to do about the family? Are you going to take them with you?M: Well, I’d like to, but I don’t know much about the situation at the moment…you know, about schools and all that. But I hope to move the family out there in a couple of months’ time. I don’t think I want to spend a year and a half out there on my own...I mean, without Rachel and the kids. I mean, I don’t see that much of them now as it is.W: Yeah. Well, that’s the way it is normally in our company, I suppose. M: Yeah. Well, we’ll see. Let me pay for the coffee. W: No, no. I’ll pay.Text 10W: Hello, everyone. Welcome to our program. I’m Jenny Jackson. The weather here in Juárez has become unbearable. With no rains for over a year, the city is suffering from unusually hot weather. Some light showers have been forecast since last month, but all of them have been effective in surrounding areas. Summer has not even started yet, but temperatures have reached 40 degrees centigrade in the past three days. And people have been warned not to go out of their homes — not if you walk on foot, at least — between 11 in the morning and 7 in the evening. Little kids and the elderly are the ones who have suffered the most from this extreme heat wave. They must drink water all the time. To help our audience have a better understanding of this extreme weather, we have invited Prof. Torres from University of Mexico to ourstudio this evening.答案1. C2. A3. C4. B5. A6. C7. A8. B9. C 10.
