Have you been tricked?
There are lots of simple tricks that you can play on your friends. For example, you could wear a black sweater and pull a piece of white thread through it, so that people try to pull it off. You could change the time on someone’s alarm clock so that they’re late for work. Or glue a coin to the floor and see how many people try to pick it up.
What is April Fool’s Day?
Do you know? If you don’t know,Let me tell you. April Fool's Day is a "for-fun-only" observance in which silly harmless pranks are played on others. There are no gifts to buy or celebrations to gear up for. It's a fun little holiday, on which you must remain on the alert or you may be the next April Fool!

On this day, people can use their own rich imagination to coax(哄骗), tease, fool others. And, no matter what to do so after the consequences, people shall not be responsible for any legal liability.
No matter how you make fun of your friends, pay attention to safety.
Making jokes only lasts until the noon of the day, the rule is rigid(严格的) and everywhere acknowledged. Anyone who tries to make a fool after midday is a bigger fool than he who has been fooled. The late trickster(骗子) is instantly rebuffed(回绝), as a piece of poem goes: April Fool's gone and past, You're the biggest fool at last. When April Fool's Day comes again, You'll be the biggest fool then.

It’s said that the April fool’s day is started from France. In the year of 1582, the French King Charles decided that the first day of New Year should be January 1st but not April 1st. But some people were not happy about this decision; they still send their New Year gifts to the others on April 1st. The supporters despised the protesters’ behaviors that they give the protesters fake presents and invited them to the fake parties which didn’t go to run at all. When someone has been made fun of, the people around them will cry out “Poisson D’ Avril”, which mean “April fool.” After that, the tradition of making fun of others on April 1st has remained.
《April Fools' Day》 知识清单

In sixteenth-century France, the start of the new year was observed2 on April first. It was celebrated in much the same way as it is today with parties and dancing into the late hours of the night. Then in 1562, Pope3 Gregory introduced a new calendar4 for the Christian world, and the new year fell on January first. Not everyone in France heard about5 the change, and even some who did know continued to celebrate the New Year on April first. Others played tricks on them and called them “April fools”. The custom6 of playing tricks on this day became popular in France and then spread to many other countries. In France today, April first is called “Poisson d’Avril (April Fish)”. French children fool their friends by taping7 a paper fish to their friends’ backs. When the “young fool” discovers this trick, the others shout “Poisson d’Avril!”Today Americans play small tricks on friends and strangers alike8 on the first of April. One common9 trick is pointing down to a friend’s shoe and saying, “Your shoelace is untied10.” Another trick is to secretly stick a sign on someone’s back that says something like “kick me” or “hit me”. Some people may get to t he office early and set all the clocks ahead11 by one hour, and then tell everyone who comes in the door that they are late for work. When they begin to apologize, they hear “April Fools”! The teacher may give unexpected12 exam papers to the students. When they see “April Fool!” at the bottom of the paper, they realize it’s a joke and begin to laugh. Some jokes are kept up13 the whole day before the “fool” realizes what day it is.Here are some more jokes:*telling a classmate that there will be no classes that day*calling the zoo and asking to speak to Mr. Fox*putting salt in the sugar bowl (It is not a nice trick to play on a stranger.)*saying to a friend, “Oh, my. You have four big holes in your coat! ”(buttonholes)*tying a string to a wallet, leaving the wallet in the middle of the sidewalk14, and then, when someone bends down to pick it up, pulling it out of reach15*setting the clock an hour behind, so the roommates show up16 to the wrong class—or not at all *(the whole class) sitting in a nother teacher’s classroom, so the teacher will be puzzled17 that she/he has walked into the wrong classroom when she/he is greeted by unfamiliar18 faces An April Fool’s joke should be in good fun and not meant to19 harm anyone. The most clever April Fool joke is the one where everyone laughs, especially the person upon whom the joke is played. Children enjoy the holiday very much, and it seems that more and more newspapers and TV shows join in. A British short film once shown on April Fool’s Day was a v ery detailed documentary20 about “spaghetti21 farmers” and how they harvest their crop from the spaghetti trees. It is fun that nobody knows exactly22 what is true and what is false23. Maybe you have to wait till the next day or longer to know the truth. So, watch out24!If you were fooled this April first, try to be smarter next time. Sending your friends April Fool e-cards may be a good idea. Log on line25 right now!
1st April is a day to be careful, or you could easily get tricked by someone. It’s April Fool’s Day, a "for-fun-only" observance, a day when people traditionally like to try to make a fool of someone else and laugh at them.Origins(愚人节起源)There are lots of theories surrounding the origins of the day. As we look back in time, many ancient predecessors of April Fool’s Day are found. The most widespread theory about the origin of April Fool’s Day links the day to the calendar reform in France. In 1582 France became the first country to switch from the Julian calendar to the Gregorian calendar. This meant that the beginning of the year was moved from the end of March 25th and April 1st, various jokes would be played on him. This story might explain why April 1st became the date of the modern holiday. There have been quite a few attempts to provide mythological explanations for the rise of April Fool’s Day.One story dates back to Roman mythology, particularly the myth of Ceres and Proserpina. In Roman mythology Pluto, the God of the dead, abducted Proserpina called out to her mother Ceres for help. But Ceres, who could only hear the echo of her daughter’s voice, searched in vain for Proserpina. The fruitless search of Ceres for her daughter was commemorated during theRoman festival of Cerealia and believed by some to have been the mythologica l antecedent of the fool’s errands popular on April 1st.British folklore British folklore links April Fool’s Day to the town of Gotham. According to the legend, it was traditional in the 13th century for any road that the King travelled over to become public property. People in Gotham didn’t want to lose their main road and spread a false story to stop the King. A messenger was sent to Gotham after King John learned the people’s trick. But when the messenger arrived in Gotham he found the town was full of lunatics who were engaged in foolish activities such as drowning fish or attempting to cage birds in roofless fences. The King fell for the hoax and declared the town too foolish to warrant punishment. And ever since then, April Fool’s Day has supposedly commemorated their trickery. Anthropological and cultural historians provide their own explanations for the rise of April Fool’s Day. According to them, the celebration traces its roots back to festivals marking the springtime.Spring is the time of year when the weather becomes fickle, as if Nature is playing tricks on man, and festivals occurring during the spring traditionally mirrored this sense of whimsy and surprise. They often involved temporary inversions of the social order. Normal behavior no longer governed during the brief moment of transition as the old world died and the new cycle of seasons was born. Jokes, trickery, and the turning upside down of status expectations were all allowed. In addition, the linkage between April Fool’s Day and thespringtime is seen in another story that traces the origin of the custom back to the abundance of fish to be found in French streams during early April when the young fish had just hatched. These young fish were easy to fool with a hook and lure. Therefore, the French called them “Poisson d’Avril” or “April Fish”. Soon it became customary to fool people on April 1st, as a way of celebrating the abundance of “foolish” fish. In France today, April first is called "Poisson d'Avril." French children fool their friends by taping a paper fish to their friends' backs. When the "young fool" discovers this trick, the prankster yells "Poisson d'Avril!" (April Fish!)In Scotland, April Fool's Day is actually celebrated for two days. The second day is devoted to pranks involving the posterior region of the body. It is called Taily Day. The origin of the "kick me" sign can be traced to this observance.Mexico and many Spanish-speaking countries have Innocent's Day, on December 28, to make "innocent" a person with jokes and hoaxes. The origin for the pranking is derived from the Catholic feast day Day of the Holy Innocents for the infants slaughtered by King Herod at the time of Jesus' birth. The New York April Fools' Day Parade was created in 1986 to remedy a glaring omission in the long list of New York's annual ethnic and holiday parades. These events fail to recognize the importance of April 1st, the day designated to commemorate the perennial folly of mankind. In an attempt to bridge that gap and bring people back in touch with their inherent foolishness, the parade annually crowns a King of Fools from the parading look-alikes.。

愚人节(AprilFool'sDay、AprilFool'sDay或AllFools'Day)
(April Fool's Day 、April Fool's Day 或All Fools' Day )也称万愚节、幽默节,是西方社会民间传统节日,节期在每年4月1日。
