附录:课文译文UNIT1 人际关系第一课老师我的老师虽然离开学校之后再也没有见过詹金斯老师,但我经常想起他。
在遇到詹金斯老师之前,大多数科目我都不是很擅长。
我想我那时候有点懒惰,特别是在数学方面。
我唯一还记得的数学课内容是三角形的内角和是180度!但是在15岁那年,我走进了詹金斯老师的课堂,第一次对一个学科真正产生了兴趣。
在上詹金斯老师的课之前,科学课对我来说就是一堆充满奇怪词语的课程。
我不知道氢是什么,而且也不想知道!我觉得这些东西既无聊又难以理解。
但詹金斯老师让一切变得有趣起来。
他结合很多实际例子用简单的语言解释看似很难的知识。
有一天,他把我们带到户外,一起制造了一枚火箭!我记得他让我把燃料倒进火箭,然后另一名学生点燃了一根火柴发射火箭。
这非常有趣。
我知道自己不是一个主动学习的学生,但我学习新事物并不慢,问题是对自己缺乏信心。
詹金斯老师让我认识到我有自己的长处。
我对恒星和行星的研究很感兴趣,他让我给全班同学做一个展示。
那是我第一次尝试向观众讲解科学知识,现在这成了我的工作!在准备一个项目时,我常会想如果是詹金斯老师,他会怎么做。
有时甚至想,如果能打电话征求他的意见就好了!我的学生我读了几本格雷厄姆的书,也在电视上看到过他。
我总会对妻子说:“喏,看,我曾经教过他!”我记得格雷厄姆来我的班上之前学习很成问题。
我听说过一些他的不良行为。
有一次我撞见他和几个朋友比赛,看谁能从学校的舞台上跳得最远。
但当他对学习产生兴趣时,他变了。
第一次走进我的班级时,他书包在身后拖着,一幅百无聊赖的样子,当我用酸和洋葱做了一个展示人类的胃如何运作的实验时,他全神贯注。
他爱科学!他非常聪明,科学课学得非常好。
不过,并不是每一个学生我都能像教格雷厄姆那么成功。
我认为重要的是要知道没有所谓的好学生或者坏学生。
看看格雷厄姆!每个人都有擅长的事,重要的是要找出每个学生擅长的是什么。
我们老师应该花更多的时间和所有的学生交朋友,真正了解他们。

1.终日懒散在家看电视的人—沙发土豆
（来自伯明翰的43岁的布莱恩·博莱克正坐在沙发上向我讲述他美妙的一天。
）
“早上醒来，我不马上起床。
我总是先打开电视，看看儿童节目，看看老片子，一直看到十点半。
然后起床，下楼，打开起居室的电视。
午餐时，我边吃饼干、喝牛奶，边看新闻。
下午，我常看另一部老影片—眼下电视里正播放非常好看的老电影。
晚上我要么看连续剧，要么看体育节目，接着再看新闻。
我喜欢看六点的重要新闻。
九点半，如果英国广播公司二频道有好看的电视剧，我会调过去看看。
夜里，我接着看看电影，通常看到凌晨两点才关电视。
我从不通宵看电视。
我一天要看十六七个小时电视。
每天也会出去活动活动。
下午我带着小狗蒂娜散步。
当然，我不会走远，只走到我家房子外的墙边。
这时，我总是随身携带手提电视，坐在石头墙上看，小狗则在我身边绕圈。
当然，没有一个好妻子，我是不可能过上这种妙不可言的生活的。
她在工作，所以现在不在家。
她天天给我做饭。
你知道，我们虽然钱不过，但活得很快活。
想想看，坐在家里，看着电视，手握遥控器，世界就在你脚下！也在你手中！这感觉真棒！
2.工作狂

我一般在闹钟响前5分钟就醒了。
闹钟一响，我立刻跳下床，从洗漱、穿衣、吃早饭、离家到坐上公共汽车只用15分钟。
我总是第一个到办公室。
每天早晨都很忙，下午更忙。
整天会议、电话不断。
一天中几乎每一分钟都充斥着急待处理的事情。
通常大约晚8点我才有时间处理自己的事：写写东西，回复些电子邮件等。
晚上10点我才能到家。
到家后还要浏览带回的文件，为第二天的工作做准备。
我一般半夜才上床睡觉。
那是妻子和孩子们都早已进入梦乡。
我很少有时间娱乐或家人一起活动。
妻子和孩子们总是抱怨，但我得拼命工作，好为他们赚更多的钱。
而且，要是没事可做我会觉得非常无聊。
我真的喜欢忙忙碌碌。

我通常每天7点起床，9点钟前赶到办公室。

我喜欢去那些远离城市、幽静、风光秀丽的地方，在没有商店、人群、地铁的地方漫步。
那里的新鲜空气对肺部有好处，我喜欢新鲜的空气。

我一直梦想着有一天能亲眼看看长城。
我喜欢看电影。
妻子称我为影迷。
遗憾的是，我们村没有电影院，所以我没有机会经常看电影。
我一年只能看两次电影，通常是在和家人去伦敦的时候。
只要农场活不太多，我们会抓住机会度周末。
我妻子喜欢逛服装店；我喜欢看看人群、听听城市的嘈杂声。
我还喜欢买几支雪茄烟，我妻子不像我那样喜欢雪茄。
女儿和儿子喜欢坐伦敦的红色公共汽车游览观光。
他们特别喜欢乘地铁。
