Module;6;The;Olympic;adventure module 6 the olympic adventure一. 教学内容:module 6 the olympic adventure二.

如:table tennis is more popular than gymnastics.

gymnastics is more exciting than swimming.

nothing is more exciting than basketball.

2. 副词〔1〕副词的种类① 时间副词如:ago, before, already, just, now, early, late, finally, tomorrow等② 地点副词如:here, there, near, around, in, out, up, down, back, away, outside等。

③ 方式副词如:carefully, angrily, badly, calmly, loudly, quickly, politely, nervously等。

④ 程度副词如:almost, nearly, much, greatly, a bit,a little, hardly, so, very等。

Speed skating has always been a sport that fascinates me, not just for the sheer thrill of watching athletes glide across the ice at breakneck speeds, but also for the stories and experiences that are often woven into the narratives of the sport. Recently, I stumbled upon a captivating English picture book that tells the tale of speed skating in a way that is both engaging and educational. Its not just a book its a journey through the world of ice, blades, and the human spirit. The book, titled Slipstream: A Speed Skating Adventure, is a beautifully illustrated story that follows the journey of a young girl named Lily, who dreams of becoming a speed skater. The story begins in her small town, where she first discovers her passion for the sport. The vivid illustrations of her hometown, with its snowy landscapes and cozy atmosphere, immediately draw you into the story. As Lilys interest in speed skating grows, she starts training at a local rink. The book does an excellent job of depicting the dedication and hard work that goes into becoming a speed skater. It shows Lily waking up early for practice, pushing through the cold, and the fatigue that comes with rigorous training. The detailed illustrations of her training sessions are both inspiring and relatable, making the reader feel as if they are right there on the ice with her.One of the aspects that I particularly enjoyed about Slipstream is how it incorporates the history and culture of speed skating. The book includes snippets of information about famous speed skaters and their achievements, which adds depth to the story. It also touches on theevolution of the sport, from its early days to the modern competitions we see today. This historical context not only enriches the narrative but also provides a broader understanding of the sport. The story takes a dramatic turn when Lily qualifies for a national competition. The anticipation and excitement leading up to the event are palpable through the pages. The book does a fantastic job of capturing the nerves and adrenaline that come with such a significant event in a young athletes life. The illustrations of the competition are dynamic and full of energy, making you feel as if you are witnessing the race firsthand. What sets Slipstream apart from other picture books is its focus on the emotional journey of the protagonist. It delves into Lilys fears, doubts, and the moments of selfdiscovery that come with pursuing a dream. The book beautifully captures the highs and lows of her journey, making it a relatable and inspiring read for anyone with a dream. The language used in the book is simple yet powerful, making it accessible to a wide range of readers. The use of onomatopoeic words like whoosh and swish when describing the movement on the ice adds a layer of sensory experience to the reading. The dialogues are realistic and engaging, making the characters feel alive and relatable. In conclusion, Slipstream: A Speed Skating Adventure is a remarkable picture book that offers a unique perspective on the world of speed skating. It is not only a visual treat with its stunning illustrations but also a narrative that is rich in emotion and inspiration. Whether you are a fan ofthe sport or simply looking for a captivating story, this book is sure to leave a lasting impression.

Speed Skating: A Journey Through Ice and PassionAs a high school student with a zeal for sports and a knack for storytelling, I found myself captivated by the world of speed skating. It all began with a simple English picture book that I stumbled upon in our schools library. The book, with its vibrant illustrations and engaging narrative, opened a window into the thrilling and challenging sport of speed skating. The story revolves around a young girl named Lily, who discovers her passion for speed skating at a local rink. The book does an excellent job of depicting the initial awkwardness and the gradual mastery of the sport. Its not just about the physical prowess required but also the mental fortitude and the love for the ice that drives these athletes.Lilys journey is filled with ups and downs, much like the reallife experiences of any athlete. The book vividly describes her first wobbly steps on the ice, the exhilaration of her first successful glide, and the frustration of falling and getting back up again. The illustrations are dynamic, capturing the fluidity of movement and the raw energy of the sport. As I flipped through the pages, I could almost feel the chill of the ice and the wind rushing past Lilys face as she skated. One of the most compelling aspects of the book is how it humanizes the sport. It shows that speed skaters are not just machines designed for speed, but individuals with dreams, fears, and aspirations. Lilys dedication to her sport is evident in the way she trains tirelessly, pushing herself to go faster and stronger each day. The book also touches on the camaraderieamong skaters, the support from coaches, and the pressure from competitions. The author cleverly weaves in the history and rules of speed skating, making it informative without being didactic. I learned about the different types of speed skating events, such as the short track and long track, and the various techniques used by skaters to gain an edge over their competitors. The book also highlights the importance of equipment, from the sharp blades of the skates to the aerodynamic suits that reduce air resistance. What truly brought the book to life for me was the inclusion of reallife stories of speed skating legends. The book mentions the achievements of athletes like Eric Heiden, who won five gold medals in a single Olympics, and Bonnie Blair, who dominated womens speed skating in the late 1980s and early 1990s. These stories of perseverance and triumph served as an inspiration to Lily and, by extension, to me as well.As I delved deeper into the book, I found myself researching more about the sport. I was fascinated by the physics of speed skating, such as the role of inertia and the concept of angular momentum in maintaining balance on the ice. The book sparked my curiosity and led me to explore beyond its pages, which is a testament to its engaging content. The book concludes with Lily participating in her first major competition, a culmination of her hard work and determination. The anticipation, the nerves, and the adrenaline rush are palpable as she takes her place on thestarting line. The final race is depicted with a sense of realism and excitement that leaves the reader on the edge of their seat.In conclusion, the speed skating picture book was more than just a visual treat it was an immersive experience that introduced me to the sport in a way that was both entertaining and educational. It showed me that speed skating is not just about going fast on ice, but a testament to the human spirits ability to push boundaries and strive for excellence. The book left me with a newfound appreciation for the sport and a desire to witness a speed skating event live, to feel the chill of the ice and the thrill of the race.。
