Unit 2 Reading Puzzles in Geography一.教材分析“Puzzles in geography”,作为一篇阅读理解课文,从历史、地理、文化、政治等不同角度向读者介绍了英国。

本单元是高二英语上册的第五单元,整册书共十个单元,教学内容贴近现代生活,富有较强的时代气息,教材涉及社会和自然科学,文化知识面很广:科技、媒体、建筑、诗歌、地理、急救、环保等,在教学活动的设计上对学生提出了更高的要求,特别是在听力和阅读方面.第五单元涉及的是地理知识,中心话题是“不列颠群岛”,整个单元的热身、阅读等语言知识和语言技能项目都是围绕该话题展开的。

单元的第一篇课文标题是The British Isles,与本单元的话题相同,是单元教学中的重点,一般分两节课进行,我要说的是阅读训练课。

作为一篇说明文,课文从总体上介绍了不列颠群岛的地理位置(location)、气候(climate)、文化(culture)、历史(history)、语言(language)等概况。

二.学情分析作为高二学生,他们已掌握了阅读的基本技能,但不能很好的将之付诸实践。

他们可以从简单的文章中获取主要信息,但是很少触及外国资料。

本节内容的学习,将会使学生逐渐形成一种跨文化交际意识,同时也将提高他们的阅读技能。

三.教学目标分析1。

让学生在阅读的过程中抓住主要信息和相关信息;2。

培养和训练学生的阅读技能,如略读,跳读;3.培养学生的团队精神;4. 学习西方国家知识,拓宽学生视野。

5. 尊重别国文化。

四. 教学重、难点分析本节内容的重点是:使学生从总体和细节上掌握英国信息;学生使用阅读技能有效的进行阅读并获取有用信息。

本节的教学难点是:如何提高学生的快速阅读能力;学生如何很好的根据上下文猜测新单词的意思。

五.教法分析在本节内容教学中,我将使用PPT把课程主要内容、英国的地图、英国主要河流的地图、英国国旗图片展示出来,以激发学生的学习兴趣,在教与学的过程中吸引学生用英语来学习。

Para 4: England本段主要引导学生探讨Why is England mentioned? 对于这个问题,学生很容易找到的原因是本段中的England is the largest of the four。

其实,关于这个问题,还有两个隐含的原因。

教师可引导学生回忆英国历史,通过回忆,他们就不难发现第二个原因England was the first of the four。

Unit 2 Reading:Puzzles in Geography Part I. Teaching material analysis文本解读:1、WHAT ---文本内容解读“Puzzles in geography”, 作为一篇阅读理解课文,从历史、地理、文化、政治等不同角度说明了联合王国的形成、发展,以及它的风土人情和人文景观。

使学生对英国有了一个比较详实的认识,拓宽了知识面,有助于深入的理解和领悟英国语言和英国文化习俗。

2、WHY---目的解读通过阅读使学生了解英国的历史和地理位置,国家的构成和名胜古迹。

3、HOW---语言特点解读本文题目“Puzzles in geography”已经揭示了主题,所以文章开门见山“People may wonder why.....”直接引入,简短明了,第一段的作用显而易见,学生可以在自己的表达中直接借鉴引用;中间的四段作者为达到写作目的,使用了高级形式的词汇描述英国的形成及地理位置,所以本文词汇知识对于我校学生来说相对较难。

文章结构不难得知,语言使用却值得品味。

Part II. Teaching aims and difficulties 教学目标和重难点分析:1、语言输入阶段,文章中频繁使用的地理历史知识以及陌生的地名是学生理解和朗读上的障碍,所以如何设计活动让学生在语句中理解、会用,最后熟练地用这些词来表达是教学的重点和难点。

2、语言输出阶段,我设计让学生作为导游介绍英国的著名景点,但是具体表达上肯定还存在较大困难,这需要前面的语言积累和框架建设才能有一个顺利的生成过程。

3、文化意识和思维品质培养上面,引发学生进行深度思考:中外的古人们都给后人留下了丰厚的文化遗产,人们为什么愿意不远千里去瞻仰它们?文化遗产的意义何在?我们能从中获得什么启示?Part III. Teaching methods 教学方法:1、带着强烈的问题意识去导读,贯穿一种以结果为导向的观念和多元的思维。

教案设计教学反思:本课时是本单元的阅读课时,通过一些小测试任务,让学生从地理、历史、政治、文化等多角度了解英国的形成、发展以及它的风土人情和人文景观,使学生对英国有一个比较详实的认识。

根据自己对教材的理解,围绕文章主题设计了导入、快速阅读、细读、讨论、总结等五个环节。

我在课件的制作上注重实用生动的图片,导入部分也从生活实际出发,通过导入活生生的图片拉近复习内容与学生的距离。

在上课的过程中学生一直有较强的兴趣,能积极主动参与课堂的各个环节,轻松地完成了课堂教学任务。

课中始终利用“任务驱动”,让学生们始终带着任务去独立思考或小组合作,注重新信息的传授,并在讲解过程中引导学生掌握语言知识;学生在教师的启发引导下,抓住所学内容,进行探讨复习。

同时,在本堂课中我能较好地运用现代教育信息技术与高中英语课堂教学相结合,比较合理地使用多媒体课件,扩大了教学容量,提高了课堂教学效率,有效地完成了本课的教学目标。

本堂课中通过小组互动,学生的合作意识加强了,主体精神得到了培养和锻炼,学生由“被动”地学转变为“主动”地学,形成了积极的学习态度,促进了学生语言实际运用能力,同时使学生层层深入地去理解文章内容,提高学生的阅读能力,掌握一定的阅读技巧和策略,扩大学生的词汇量,提高学生的口头表达能力。

但本节课的教学中也存在着一些不足,需要注意并改进的地方:1,当堂达标的习题设计形式较为单调,可以再增加一些小花样吸引学生参与对课文的回顾复习。

2.在本堂课中还要注意增加和学生的互动,实现师生、生生、生境等多种互动形式,实现情感与思维互动,多鼓励学生,让学生展示自我,激励发展。

3.由于学生存在差异性,在合作探究环节,有些学生表现得不是很积极,主要是阅读速度跟不上。

通过此节课我学习到了在新的教学理念下的对教师的新的要求。

1.上好一堂课,老师首先要对教材有深入的理解,把教材吃透,并用学生容易理解的方式呈现出来,同时,要突出自己的特色和风格2.老师对学生的评价要准确,有效并多样化,要及时,这样才能激励学生。

2017年第20期英语教师Unit2Puzzles in Geography(Reading)阅读课教学设计孙丹教学对象:高一学生指导老师:鲁子问(教育部《英语课程标准》研制组核心成员)扈华唯(湖北省高中英语教研员)杜圣鑫(湖北省鄂州市高中英语教研员)巴韫华(湖北省鄂州高中英语教师)2017年7月26日,由中国教育技术协会中小学外语教育信息化应用工作委员会和北京师范大学外国语言文学学院联合主办的“第十四届中学骨干英语教师新课程教学高级研修班”在山东省烟台市举行。

在湖北省高中英语教研员扈华唯的推荐下,笔者有幸展示了一堂“互联网+”混合式英语阅读课。

本堂课在鲁子问等专家、鄂州市高中英语教研员杜圣鑫,以及湖北省鄂州高中英语教师巴韫华的指导下,经过多次打磨,完成授课,受到了在场专家和教师的一致好评。

一、教学内容本堂课教学内容为人教版高中《英语》必修5 Unit2The United Kingdom中的一篇题为Puzzles in Geography的说明文。

单元话题是“英国”,从地理、历史、政治、文化等方面介绍了联合王国的形成、发展及其风土人情。

学生读完后,会对英国有一个比较详细的认识,不仅可以拓宽知识面,还有助于今后更深入地了解和领悟英国的文化习俗。

文章开篇指出“人们可能会奇怪为什么会用不同的词语来描述英格兰、威尔士、苏格兰和北爱尔兰四个国家,如果你研究英国的历史,就能够弄明白这个问题”,点明主题,引起学生的好奇心。

第一至三段主要介绍大不列颠及北爱尔兰联合王国的形成过程,包括国旗和版图的演变史;第四段重点介绍英格兰的三个地区,即英格兰南部、中部和北部;第五段阐明伦敦历史、文化的重要性;最后一段总结升华,启发学生英国除了乡村风景,还有更多值得观察、探索和学习的东西。

二、学情分析本堂课是借班上课,教学对象为山东省烟台市第一中学高一学生。

通过课前的交流,笔者了解到学生普遍不了解英国,有较好的英语基础,已具备一定的阅读能力和阅读技巧,有较强的学习能力和求知欲以及较好的自主、合作、探究能力。

Unit 2 Reading Puzzles in Geography一.教材分析“Puzzles in geography”, 作为一篇阅读理解课文,从历史、地理、文化、政治等不同角度向读者介绍了英国。

本单元是高二英语上册的第五单元,整册书共十个单元,教学内容贴近现代生活,富有较强的时代气息,教材涉及社会和自然科学,文化知识面很广:科技、媒体、建筑、诗歌、地理、急救、环保等,在教学活动的设计上对学生提出了更高的要求,特别是在听力和阅读方面。

第五单元涉及的是地理知识,中心话题是“不列颠群岛”,整个单元的热身、阅读等语言知识和语言技能项目都是围绕该话题展开的。

单元的第一篇课文标题是The British Isles,与本单元的话题相同,是单元教学中的重点,一般分两节课进行,我要说的是阅读训练课。

作为一篇说明文,课文从总体上介绍了不列颠群岛的地理位置(location)、气候(climate)、文化(culture)、历史(history)、语言(language)等概况。

二.学情分析作为高二学生,他们已掌握了阅读的基本技能,但不能很好的将之付诸实践。

他们可以从简单的文章中获取主要信息,但是很少触及外国资料。

本节内容的学习,将会使学生逐渐形成一种跨文化交际意识,同时也将提高他们的阅读技能。

三.教学目标分析1. 让学生在阅读的过程中抓住主要信息和相关信息;2. 培养和训练学生的阅读技能,如略读,跳读;3.培养学生的团队精神;4. 学习西方国家知识,拓宽学生视野。

5. 尊重别国文化。

四. 教学重、难点分析本节内容的重点是:使学生从总体和细节上掌握英国信息;学生使用阅读技能有效的进行阅读并获取有用信息。

本节的教学难点是:如何提高学生的快速阅读能力;学生如何很好的根据上下文猜测新单词的意思。

五.教法分析在本节内容教学中,我将使用PPT把课程主要内容、英国的地图、英国主要河流的地图、英国国旗图片展示出来,以激发学生的学习兴趣,在教与学的过程中吸引学生用英语来学习。

根据交际教学法和任务教学法,在课堂中,我会给学生布置一定的任务,并分成小组鼓励他们用英语进行讨论。

六.学法分析1)认知策略:指导学生运用已学会的抓重点、做记号、摘笔记等方式,对所学内容进行整理与归纳。

2)调控策略:培养自我评价与相互评价的习惯,鼓励学生增加与教师和同学交流学习英语的体会和经验,学会科学评价自己的学习行为与学习效果,进一步形成有效的学习方法,树立积极向上的学习态度。

3)交际策略:创设有意义的情景和任务活动,引导学生通过四人一小组,进行合作学习,让他们围绕课堂任务分工合作,相互探讨、相互交流,从而获得知识、技能和情感体验,变被动学习为主动学习。

4) 资源策略:布置任务,引导学生主动拓宽英语学习的渠道,即通过不同信息渠道(internet, newspaper,dictionary, magazines…)查找所需信息,把英语学习从课堂延伸到课外。

七.教学过程我将教学过程分成了四个环节:阅读前;阅读中;阅读后;布置作业。

VI. Teaching procedure (教学过程):1. Pre-reading (阅读前)Lead in:a. Show the Ss some pictures about the UK.b. Show three pictures to lead in the three names: the UK, England and Great Britain and lead in the puzzle.c. Look at the title “Puzzles in Geography”, and try to guess what the content of this passage might be and share it with your partner. Then ask some Ss to speak it out.c. Teacher reads the following questions and reminds them to remember them:What do you want to know about the UK?What does the writer mainly talked about in this passage?2.Fast readinga.T gives the Ss 3 minis to skim the text and choose the correct answer about the main idea。

b:Read it again and match the main idea of each paragraph.c. divisionT: Encourage the Ss to divide the passage in group and try to summary the main idea of each part. After Ss read it, the teacher broadcast a PPT:T: show the map of the UK with the PPTT: In the first Para. the writer gives us a puzzle and the answer (the British history). Then it’s easy to guess what will be talked about nest, ask some to speak their guesses. Now read Para. 2 and fill the following blanks:On the PPT:T: show the picture of the Union Jack to Ss with PPT.T: Let them think what's left out in the flag. Why? (Wales is left out. It's usually assumed to be part of England. ) …In the second Para. , the writer explains the joining of England and Wales and how Great Britainand the UK formed. Now the puzzle becomes clear. Then let's move on to Para.3 .
