Academic Paper (Scholarly Paper)
• In academic publishing, a paper is an academic work that is usually published in an academic journal. It contains original research results or reviews existing results. Such a paper, also called an article, will only be considered valid if it undergoes a process of peer review by one or more referees (who are academics in the same field) who check that the content of the paper is suitable for publication in the journal. .
What Is Research?
1. Solve a problem using existing methods. Write a documentation, a tech report, a manual, a README.txt. -- low innovation, little impact
• Title (1000 readers) • Abstract (4 sentences, 100 readers) • Introduction (1 page, 100 readers) • The problem (1 page, 10 readers) • My idea (2 pages, 10 readers) • The details (5 pages, 3 readers) • Related work (1-2 pages, 10 readers) • Conclusions and further work (0.5 pages)

2. Improve existing solutions to an existing problem. Write a paper. -- low innovation, little impact
3. Identify a new problem. Generalize your solution so it can solve a class of problems. Write a paper. -high innovation, high impact
