Objectives:
1. Words: bookworm, family members,full of love.
2.Structure: I love … because...
3. To help the students understand the text and learn some reading strategies.
4. To know the classmates’ different attitudes towards their own families by reading notes from an interview and have a discussion in groups.
Emotion objectives: To love our families and be thankful to them.
Materials and aids:
Multi-media, mini-books, family members’ pictures.
Teaching procedures:
I. Eliciting
1. Greeting
Teacher and students talk to know each other.
2. Eliciting love
Teacher shows the shape of heart and elicits the topic of Family.
II. Pre-text prediction
1. Eliciting the notes
Teacher introduces Jennifer, the interviewer and Timmy, the interviewee, and then encourages the students to raise questions about the topic of family as an interviewer. III. While-text reading
1.Paragraph 1 Intensive Reading.
Students read the paragraph to answer questions.
Teacher and students talk about why Timmy loves his mum
Students express their opinions why they love their mums with the pattern drill of this lesson: I love … because …
Students learn the word bookworm.
2. Paragraph 2 Intensive Reading
Teacher and students talk about why Timmy loves his dad.
Students predict what Timmy’s dad says to Timmy.
3.Paragraph 3 Extensive Reading
Teacher and students talk about the pets, which are the little family member s.
4.Paragraph 4
Students predict what Timmy says about his family.
IV. Post-text reading
1. Complete the table

Teacher and students talk about their own families.
V. Emotional education
Teacher raises the question, what is the most important for families and share the opinions with the students.
Teacher demonstrates her idea through a series of pictures and a quotation: Treat your family like friends and treat your friends like family.
