第一课时:

教学目标:

1通过学习本单元,逐步培养学生对科学的兴趣

2简单了解一下科学在我们日常生活中的作用

3学习做简单的小试验

教学内容:

1能听懂、回所、会读和会拼写单词:

science, scientists, happen, medicine, ill, pilot, astronaut, nurse, engineer, tennis, player, email, geography, mountain, hospital, tights, mechanic, machine ,plants, pupils

2能听懂、会说和会读单词:

easy, world, example, , health, closely, astronaut, email, nervous, brave, smell, pizza, stomach, ache, subject, river, lake,

3能听懂、会读会写句型:

What is science about?

1能听懂、回所、会读和会拼写单词:

教具:

与科学相关职业的一些图片

从网上下载一些科学家的照片

复印一些科学书籍的封面,如天文、地理等

教学过程:

一Warm up:

1 Free talk.

2 Review Unit7 ,and ask some questions.

二Presentation and practice:

1 T: Let’s look at the pictures.(上课的时候,教师拿出一些科学的照片或图片问大家以下问题。)

Who is this old man? ( He is Albert Einstein.)

Who is this lady? (She is Madame Curie)

What are they? (They are scientists)

What do they do? (They study science)

What is science? (Science is the study to help us understand how our world works. In science, we find out what happens and why some things happen in our world.)

T:“What is science about?”如果大家不知如何回答,教师可以让大家打开课本看第八单元。S:

T:“Now you can find the answers here. Please read the text by yourselves first. Then I’m going to ask you some questions based on your readings.”教师给出一部分时间让学生看。

T:“What is science about? In what areas can science help us? (Space travel, environmental protection, living better, weather, food, clothes, work and transportation etc.)

What do scientists do?”

S:学生可以根据这些问题进行问答。

(We should all study science. Science can make our life easy. Why does a pilot need to learn some science? )

T: “Just now, we asked about certain persons. What other persons should study science? Can you talk in groups and find out who else needs to study science?”

三:New words

板书:explain, extinct, medicine, scientist, pilot, nurse, engineer, astronaut, plants, pupils

学习这些单词,讲解这些单词的意思以及发音。

T:Now follow me read these words. explain….

S: explain….

跟读这些单词,然后齐读,指名读。

四:Look and say:

1教师让学生四人一组展开讨论,还有哪些人也需要了解科学等,如a bus driver(learn how to save more fuel), sports player(how to run faster without hurting legs), a dancer(how to dance beautifully), a singer(how to keep the voice clear, nice and solid), a painter(how to use the oil paints)etc. )

T:“Is there anyone living in t his world who doesn’t need to know something about science?”S:“No, there isn’t. Everybody needs to learn science.”(适当引导学上说)

2 T: Now listing the tape and follow it.

(有些难的句子,老师可以让学生先听再跟读)

3然后两两问答。

Why do we need medicine when we are ill?

(to ease the pain and cure the disease.)

How can we see stars in the sky?

(Use a telescope.)

How can we make our city cleaner?

(Do not littler and plant more trees.)

What kind of food is good for our health?

(Vegetables, fruits, eggs, milk…)

4 T: Now look at P44. Who are these scientists?

S:They are Darwin, Einstein, Edison, Yang Zhenning, Madame Curie and Chen Jingrun.

(如果学生不知道一些科学家,老师可以在此处作适当的提示)

二Practice:

第二部分是个小对话。在做练习前,教师可以问大家:“Do you use email to send letters? Who is now using emails? Which is better, using emails or using letters? Why?”教师可以引导大家进行简单的讨论,
