第1篇:英文读书报告Tomorrow is a New Day ——Reading on Gone With the Wind American writer Margaret Mitchell wrote a work merely on the legendary place in the literacy circles of writers, her only work Gone with the Wind has become the United States’ best-selling works of fiction overnight .November 8th, 1900, Margaret Mitchell was born in Atlanta, home of a lawyer. Since childhood, the Civil War, which happening in Atlanta, has become the topic. Of course Atlanta became the natural background of the novel. Margaret has spent ten years’ time to write the novel and half a year’s ti me to cross-check fiction historical events involved in the specific time and place.Gone with the Wind is a novel describes love. Margaret used her female fine and smooth to grasp young women’s complicated psychological activities exactly when they are se eking for love ,modeling this novel’s complex figure Scarlett successfully .Sometimes, this figure was very familiar to us ,but sometimes very strange. Sometimes we could understood her,but sometimes we thought she was unintelligible. However, we could fell she was very authentic from beginning to the end , these were this book’s greatest achievements. Scarlett was young and beautiful but what she had did show her cruel and greedy. In order to re-energize her family property, she took her love and marriage aswk_ad_begin({pid : 21});wk_ad_after(21, function(){$('.ad-hidden').hide();}, function(){$('.ad-hidden').show();});business. She had three marriages, but she was not sincere at all. Finally, she found that, Ashley, the man she kept in mind constantly was weak and incompetent in character. But the man named Rhett Butler was worthwhile to be loved. From the view of appreciation of the beauty, the person who had a complicated character could not be intaken into a negative character simply. In previous novels, the author used to shape the character in a simple way. Gone with the Wind has broken this descriptive method. The novel by the characters presented to us are both positive and negative of the combination.Scarlett, the leading character in the novel, impressed me the most. So I want to talk something about her. Her character was very complex. She was childish and optimistic. She had a tense feeling and her feeling was apt to be revealed. In the meanwhile, she was self-willed and like a bear with a sore head. She was also quite responsible for her own action. She was not good at analyzing and introspection. These characters made her use six or seven years’ experiences to realize that the unwilling love was wrong. This kind of love was just a fine kink but not real exist. From another point of view, I appreciate Scarlett’s brave and strong. When she faced difficulties she would say: Tomorrow is another day. Yeah, what a reasonable sentence. It’s of great philosophic theory. It told us to be confident to life. When I meet difficulty, I will tell myself: tomorrow is another day.Gone with the Wind has a very significant position in our society. We feel America is an incredible and strange country, but Gone with the Wind uncovers her too softhearted veil, making people see many things that dirty and glorious are coexisted. It also has a special significance to adolescents. This novel becamefamous overnight as soon as it published. This novel which reached a length of 1000 pages shocked American. The movie Gone with the Wind was adapted from this novel. The movie made the novel even more famous. It is quite worth reading.第2篇:英文读书报告Gone with the WindIn my childhood, I once prefer reading fairy stories which accompany with me in my alone days. The author is Vicky Phillips.Vicky Phillips is a pioneer in adult education and distance learning, and founder and CEO of “”.She is the author of the well-known book Never Too Late to Learn: The Adult Student’s Guide to College. This paper is a business trip around the run into a problem launch. once the author on a business trip a man asked her what she did for a living. The author gave him an honest answer without think. To make him understand, the author explained alot.Through detailed introduction of the author, we got she designed America’s first online counseling center for distance learners. Distance learning, or educational programs where pupil and professor never meet face-to-face, are nothing new. And the author taught psychology and career development .Her post is the World Wide Web. Posting assignments to electronic bulletin boards and sending graded papers across the international phone lines in traffic-free email packets. From the author, it is hard to imagine teaching anywhere other than in the liberal freedom that is cyberspace. In cyberspace, teachers listen, read, comment and reflect on what students have to say--each of them in turn .What they know, they must communication to teachers inwk_ad_begin({pid : 21});wk_ad_after(21, function(){$('.ad-hidden').hide();}, function(){$('.ad-hidden').show();});words .They cannot sit passively in the back row twiddling their mental thumbs as the clock ticks away. This can be very good to promote students' autonomous learning, let the students from the heart to learn. What’s more , Education in Cyberspace is beneficial to the old .They are telecommuting to campus because they could not ,or would not ,uproot their careers and kids or grandkids to move to a college campus—an entity modeled after the learning monasteries of medieval times .A cyber-education suits the old because it respects their abilities to define for themselves what knowledge is and to go after it .It encourages them to argue their points and their perspectives without the interference of a professor, who might be tempted to step in to “clam down ”or “refocus” an otherwise wonderfully enlightening classroom debate . In today'ssociety, some people think that, along with the rapid popularization of the Internet, network education will be on the traditional education in a profound revolution, will eventually replace the traditional education. There is no denying the fact that set up network school and develop the network education, education teaching reform to bring new life and opportunity, but I still think: the network education can't replace the traditional education.First, network education the drawbacksTo guarantee the quality of network teaching depend on many factors common USES, such as teaching both parties must have a computer hardware technology environment, must have access to, network must be clear, more important is, teaching the two sides also must have appropriate technology level. In addition, the network teaching because of the space, the teacher unique personality charm, sings in the teaching with the student emotion, moral, of knowledge and ability to achieve the effect of teaching, the teacher also difficult to be network teaching the multi-level teaching and teach students in accordance with their aptitude, some in the name of the upper borrow online, all day in the stroll online. Most online schools cannot form new mode of learning, and is still traditional education model alternatives. An online school quality also is intermingled, much online service position is not clear. Second, the advantages of the traditional educationTraditional education is a closed, force-feeding teaching too, but its basic form position is still network education cannot replace. The traditional education network education have class than study atmosphere, the teachers and students to exchange, classroom teaching is easy to control, easy to learning motivationand other advantages, in addition, documented learning resources network digital learningresources than more easy to use and carry, network education is also has many advantages, but it can only to the traditional education in a supplementary role, should not also can't replace the traditional education. With the development of the society, our life is more and more digital, with the development of science and technology, and remote education also became more and more popular. But now there is no complete popularity. In China, we are still in a traditional teaching primarily. Only some remedial class, may be online. In my opinion, distance education, advantages and disadvantages. Online teaching, teachers don't have to eat chalk. Such a body good. And do not go out and then can learn much knowledge, convenient. But, this only part of it to learn useful talent. Some people don't want to learn might just deal with the teacher just, and not himself to learn. You can call others generation homework to do. Because the teacher simply can't see, network after all is unreal.(本文素材来源于网络,如有侵权,请联系删除。

了不起的盖茨比英文阅读报告

了不起的盖茨比英文阅读报告了不起的盖茨比英文读书报告Pursuit for DreamsThe Great Gatsby is a 1925 novel written by American author F. Scott Fitzgerald that follows a cast of characters living in the fictional town of West Egg on prosperous Long Island in the summer of 1922. The story primarily concerns the young and mysterious millionaire Jay Gatsby and his quixotic passion and obsession for the beautiful former debutante Daisy Buchanan. This novel is narrated by Nick who returns to the Midwest before setting to the New York City. Daisy is Nick’s cousin once removed and Nick knows of her husband, Tom. With the development of the novel, Nick knows that his next-door neighbor is the wealthy Gatsby, who always hosting lavish parties of hundreds of people. Then Nick knows that Gatsby had fallen in love with Daisy long before. But Gatsby had no money to marriedDaisy, so Daisy married to the wealthy Tom. With few years of illegal traffic and smuggling, Gatsby accumulates a great amount of wealth. With the help of Nick, they meet and begin a love affair again. But then Tom finds that. After the combat between the two men, Daisy knocks down and kills Myrtle by accident when driving Gatsby’s car. At last, Daisy and Tom escape, left Gatsby be shot by Wilson. After read this novel, I think Gatsby is silly and unwisely. For his whole life after he falls in love with Daisy, an attractive and elegant but shallow and selfish young lady, he strives for years to become a millionaire. But Gatsby doesn’t realize the truth of his love and still sacrifices for his dream blindly, even by paying with his life. Gatsby takes the blame of killing Myrtle for Daisy, and is shot by Myrtle’s husband who is incited by Tom. Sadly, after his death, all Gatsby gains is Daisy’s indifference. I think no one is worth a great deal of sacrifice, especially for a frivolous and selfish person. While as the novel’s title The Great Gatsby says, I agree that Gatsby is truly great. In my opinion, Gatsby is pure, sincere, enthusiastic and persevering. Gatsby’s success in fortune is great; his strong will of love and achieving life goal is also great; he becomes the big name of the society and becomes the upper class’s deputy. Everyone is glad to come to his party; everyone admires his property; and everyone wants to be his friend, even Daisy has taken much notice of him and falls in love with him again. Gatsby is also great when he loses his life in order to protect Daisy from the accident. All in all, this story can serve as a reminder for us. To live a meaningful life, we should carefully choose some dreams to pursue. Everyone, if only work hard and never give up, we could achieve our dreams and could live a better life in the piece of the land. People should make their efforts, such as diligence, courage and determination to realize dreamsrather than depend on the help from others.篇二:了不起的盖茨比英文读书报告Book Report of The Great GatsbyThe introduction about the author:Francis Scott Key Fitzgerald (September 24, 1896 –December 21, 1940) was an American author of novels and short stories, whose works are the paradigm writings of the Jazz Age, a term he coined himself. He is widely regarded as one of the greatest American writers of the 20th century. Fitzgerald is considered a member of the Lost Generation of the 1920s. He finished four novels: This Side of Paradise, The Beautiful and Damned, Tender Is the Night, and the most famous one is The Great Gatsby.Fitzgerald also wrote many short stories that treat themes of youth and promise along with despair and age. The Great Gatsby was first published in 1925, and it has been republished in 1945 and 1953. There are two settings for the novel. The firstsetting is on Long Island's North Shore and the second major setting is in New York City. The book is set within the year 1922 from the spring to the autumn.Summary of this book:Nick Carraway, a Midwesterner who had graduated from Yale, moved to New York in the summer of 1922 to learn about the bond business. He rented a house in the West Egg district of Long Island, a group who had made their fortunes too recently to have established social connections and who were prone to garish displays of wealth. Nick’s next-door neighbor in West Egg was a mysterious man named Jay Gatsby, who lived in a gigantic Gothic mansion and threw extravagant parties every Saturday night.Nick was unlike the other inhabitants of West Egg—he was educated at Yale and had social connections in East Egg, a fashionable area of Long Island home to the established upper class. Nick drove out to East Egg one eveningfor dinner with his cousin, Daisy Buchanan, and her husband, T om, an erstwhile classmate of Nick’s at Yale. Daisy and Tom introduced Nick to Jordan Baker, a beautiful, cynical young woman with whom Nick began a romantic relationship. Nick also leart a bit about Daisy and Tom’s marriage: Jordan told him that Tom had a lover, Myrtle Wilson, who lived in the valley of ashes, a gray industrial dumping ground between West Egg and New York City. Not long after this revelation, Nick travelled to New York City with Tom and Myrtle. At a vulgar, gaudy party in the apartment that Tom kept for the affair, Myrtle began to taunt Tom about Daisy, and Tom responded by breaking her nose.As the summer progressed, Nick eventually garnered an invitation to one of Gatsby’s legendary parties. He encountered Jordan Baker at the party, and they met Gatsby himself, a surprisingly young man who had a remarkable smile and called everyone “old sport.”Gatsby asked to speak toJordan alone, and through Jordan, Nick later leart more about his mysterious neighbor. Gatsby told Jordan that he knew Daisy in Louisville in 1917 and was deeply in love with her. He spent many nights staring at the green light at the end of her dock, across the bay from his mansion. Gatsby’s extravagant lifestyle and wild parties were simply an attempt to impress Daisy. Gatsby now wanted Nick to arrange a reunion between himself and Daisy, but he was afraid that Daisy would refuse to see him if she knew that he still loved her. Nick invited Daisy to have tea at his house, without telling her that Gatsby would also be there. After an initially awkward reunion, Gatsby and Daisy reestablished their connection. They begin an affair. After a short time, T om grew increasingly suspicious of his wife’s relationship with Gatsby. At a luncheon at the Buchanans’house, Gatsby stared at Daisy with such undisguised passion that Tom realized Gatsby is in love with her.Though Tom involved in an extramarital affair, he was deeply outraged by the thought that his wife could be unfaithful tohim. He forced the group to drive into New York City, where he confronted Gatsby in a suite at the Plaza Hotel. T om asserted that he and Daisy had a history that Gatsby could never understand, and he announced to his wife that Gatsby was a criminal—his fortune came from bootlegging alcohol and other illegal activities. Daisy realized that her allegiance was to Tom, and Tom contemptuously sent her back to East Egg with Gatsby, (转载于: 写论文网:了不起的盖茨比英文阅读报告)attempting to prove that Gatsby could not hurt him. When Nick, Jordan, and T om drove through the valley of ashes, however, they discovered that Gatsby’s car had struck and killed Myrtle, Tom’s lover. They rushed back to Long Island, where Nick leart from Gatsby that Daisy wasdriving the car when it struck Myrtle, but that Gatsby intended to take the blame. The next day, T om told Myrtle’s husband, George, that Gatsby was the driver of the car. George, who had leapt to the conclusion that the driver of the car that killed Myrtle must have had been her lover, found Gatsby in the pool at his mansion and shoots him dead. He then fatally shot himself. Nick staged a small funeral for Gatsby, ended his relationship with Jordan, and moved back to the Midwest to escape the disgust he felt for the people surrounding Gatsby’s life and for the emptiness and moral decay of life among the wealthy on the East Coast. Nick reflected that just as Gatsby’s dream of Daisy was corrupted by money and dishonesty, the American dream of happiness and individualism had disintegrated into the mere pursuit of wealth. Though Gatsby’s power to transform his dreams into reality made him “great,”Nick reflected that the era of dreaming—both Gatsby’s dream andthe American dream—was over.篇三:The book report of The Great Gatsbay1《了不起的盖茨比》英文读书报告The book report of The Great GatsbayBy F. Scott. FizgeraldThe Great Gatsbay is written by American author F. Scott. Fizgerald, who is considered a member of the lost generation of the Twenties. It was first published on 1925. The following is the main plot of the novel.A young man named Nick Caraway, who came to New York City in string of 1922. He became involved in the life of his neighbour at Long Island, jay Gatsbay revealed to Nick, that he fell in love with his cousin Daisy before the war. At that time, he is poor. However, Daisy married Tom Buchanan, a rich but boring man of good social position. But Gatsby was still in love with her.In Gatsby's opinion, daisy was a beautiful and charming that he had neverseen. But I think she was also fickle, shallow, hypocritical. She was love with money, easy, and material luxury because she seemed to love Gatsby, but just appearance. Although I know the real Daisy, Gatsby did not know her clearly. This is the main reason why Gatsby could not get what he wanted.Becoming wealthy is the most important for him. Large fortune was from distributing illegal alcohol and trading in stolen securities. After getting money, Gatsby got luxurious possessions. And a marble swimming pool, and more than forty acres of lawn and garden, it was Gatsby mansion.Besides,Gatsby went to Oxford University to get further study in order to make him more elegant and noble. He changed since his New Haven years. Now he was a study straw-haired man of thirty with a rather hard mouth and a supercilious manner. Two shining arrogant eyes has established dominance over his face and gave him theappearance of always learning aggressively forward. Not even the effeminate swank of his riding clothes could hide the enormous power of that body- he seemed to fill those glistening boots until he strained the top lacing, and you could see a great pack of muck shifting when his shoulder moved under his thin coat. It was a body capable of enormous beverage- a cruel body inNick's eyes.Gatsby held sumptuous parties every weekend at his mansion. The party is almost unbelievably luxurious. He made friends who have outstanding fame and high position.Due to natural instincts- vanity, Daisy began to sob helplessly;; I did love him true, but I loved you too. when Gatsby tried to convince her to leave Tom. Gatsby lost Daisy because he had no money, but he still loved her. It was the blinding love that killed him.Daisy, driving Gatsby's car, hit and killed T om's mistress, MyrtleWilson, Gather knew the truth, but he kept silent to protect her. Afterwards, Tom told Myrtle's husband that it was Gatsby killed his wife. Then Wilson murdered Gatsby and committed suicide. After Gatsby''s dying, almost no people including those who usually attended his parties came to his funeral. Nick was left to arrange Gatsby's funeral, attended only Gatsby's father and the former guests. The woman who ever allowed Gatsby to take the blame for killing Myrtle rather than attend his funeral moved away with her husband finally, leaving no contact address.Gatsby is the typical American youth in the twenties. He regarded Daisy as the symbol of the youth, money and status deeply. He thought innocently: he can receive the last love, his dream after having money. It was a pity. He had misunderstood the girl he loved and the boring society on the surface. So he would never made his dream come true. But, he tried his best.。

Reading is an essential part of our lives, and it plays a crucial role in shaping our thoughts and perspectives. In this reading report, I will share my insights on the book "To Kill a Mockingbird" by Harper Lee.First and foremost, the book "To Kill a Mockingbird" is a timeless classic that delves into the themes of racism, injustice, and moral growth. Set in the American South during the 1930s, the story revolves around the Finch family, particularly the young girl Scout and her father Atticus, who is a lawyer defending a black man accused of raping a white woman. Through the eyes of Scout, the readers are exposed to the harsh realities of racial prejudice and the importance of standing up for what is right, even in the face of adversity. One of the most striking aspects of the book is its portrayal of the innocence of childhood juxtaposed with the harsh realities of the adult world. Scout's coming-of-age journey is intricately woven into the narrative, and her growth in understanding the complexities of human nature is both heartwarming and thought-provoking. The lessons she learns about empathy, compassion, and the importance of seeing beyond the surface are timeless and resonate deeply with readers of all ages. Moreover, the character of Atticus Finch stands out as a beacon of integrity and moral courage. His unwavering commitment to upholding justice and his efforts to instill in his children the values of empathy and understanding make him a truly inspiring figure. His famous quote, "You never really understand a person until you consider things from his point of view... until you climb into his skin and walk around in it," encapsulates the essence of the book and serves as a powerful reminder of the importance of empathy in our interactions with others.Furthermore, the book's exploration of the destructive nature of prejudice and the importance of empathy and understanding is as relevant today as it was when the bookwas first published. The issues of racial injustice and discrimination continue to plague our society, making the message of "To Kill a Mockingbird" a poignant and timely one.In conclusion, "To Kill a Mockingbird" is a literary masterpiece that continues to captivate readers with its timeless themes and compelling characters. The book's exploration of moral growth, empathy, and the destructive nature of prejudice makes it a must-read for people of all ages. It serves as a powerful reminder of the importance of standing up for justice and understanding the perspectives of others. Harper Lee's work will undoubtedly continue to inspire and provoke thought for generations to come.。

附:英文读书报告写作知识The Book reportBook reports may be required by teachers who want to know whether their students have read the books assigned and how well they understand those books. If they are not required, students may as well write one or two for themselves, for writing book reports helps students to improve their reading comprehension and their ability to analyze and evaluate books. Moreover, it is very good written practice.1. Three Main Parts of a Book reportGenerally speaking, a book report consists of the following three main parts: ? Information about the author and his timesA summary of the bookComments on itA description of the author’s times should be given together with a brief account of his life. It should include the circumstances that led to the writing of the book under discussion and the historical and social background related to the content of the book. To make these things clear, the writer perhaps needs to read some reference material, such as biographies of the author and histories of the period described in the book.2. Writing of the Book Report1) The summary of the book should be self-contained, clear, and easy to understand. Above all, it should be objective.2) Comments on and criticisms of the book should not be mixed with the summary; they can be left to the third part.3) The summary of a novel or a play is usually written in the present tense, while that of nonfiction, in the tense of the original work: for example, the past tense should be used for a history, and the present fora scientific work.4) Comments on and evaluation of the book from the third and most important part of a book report. In this part the writer expresses his or her own views on the book, names its merits and demerits, and discusses its relevance to the present time. The discussion should center on the content of the book, but the author’s style and techniques of presentation, if interesting, can also be touched upon.英文读书报告的格式1. Introductory ParagraphThe first sentence should state for which instructor and class the book-report is being written. The second sentence should state the title of the book and the author's name. The third sentence should tell how many pages the book has and the name of the publisher. The fourth sentence can state basicbibliographic information about the book.Bibliographic information means not only the author and title but also what company published the book, what year it was published in and any other relevant information such as the edition and if the book has been translated, simplified or abridged. The next sentence should state the reason you decided to read this book. Why did you choose this particular book? Typical reasons might be:o You like the author.o You like this type of book . o Someone recommended the book to you.o It was on a required reading list.o You liked the cover. These reasons do not have to be complex. Most people choose the books they read because they like the author or somebody recommended it to them. If you chose the book because you like the author, then state why you like that author. An optional sentence can be used if the cover of the book gives you any additional information then add a sentence with that information.o Was the book a best seller?o Are there X million copies in print?o Did it win any major awards?2. Main Character ParagraphThe first sentence of this paragraph should state who the main character or characters of the book are, and why they are important. Refer to this person or these persons as the Main Character or Main Characters. You will need at least a complex sentence for this, and probably more than one sentence.3. Other Characters ParagraphYou should compose at least one sentence for each of the other prominent or important characters in the book. State the name of each of the other important characters, and the key role that each one plays in the bookMost books have five or six prominent characters besides the main character, so simply listing each one and stating their role in the book will give you a good sized paragraph.4. Plot Summary ParagraphThis is perhaps the hardest paragraph to writein five sentences or so. If you have to write a bit more don't worry. Here are the main points to cover:o State the type of book .o What place or country was the book set in? o What time period was the book set in? .o Other physical locations which are important, like: ships, airplanes, houses, or buildings.o Other notable attributes of the book. . o What is the main character trying to do?o What is the outcome of the book?o etc.Make sure you cover all of the major parts of the plot. You might have to go back through the book, chapter by chapter, and make a few notes.5. Personal Impressions and Conclusion ParagraphSimply talk about what you liked or did not like about the book. Use this paragraph as your conclusion. It should summarize your overall impressions of the book and bring the report to a close.o Start with a sentence that states that you are now writing a conclusion.

The name of English literature:A.《Robinson Crouse》B.《The book thief》《Robinson Crouse》Daniel Defoe, the writer of 《Robinson Course》was born in a merchant family in London in 1660. His novels were all finished at his senior age. The work 《Robinson Crouse》and《Mole Fronds》and so on significantly affected the development of fiction in Britain and even in Europe. He was also considered the “Father of Fiction in Britain and Europe”. He was just a merchant before he wanted to write frictions and he had never though about being a wrier. He had ever managed his own business such as underwear production materials industry, alcohol and tobacco industry and so on. He experienced bankruptand lots of failures, but never gave up until he was at an old age. Where he falls over himself, where he picks himself up. While managing corporation, he constantly participated in the politic activities at the same time. He was sent to prison several times by police because of his aggressive comments on the policy made by local government. The articles written by him were numerous as he joined in about five magazines, which showed his extreme energy. The success of this book is never a coincident that all his experiences provided the thoughts and skills that were needed. It was said that this book had been published many times less than 《Bible》. Now, it is praised as the first full-length novel in the literary history of Britain, which is a valuable contribution to the world literature.《Robinson Crouse》was created when Defoe was inspired by a true story. In the 1800’s, there was an England sailor whose name was Alison; he once had a conflict with the captain, which was left on a small island. He had noting but sea and sand. With an amazing determination, he lived nearly five years and a halfand eventually found and brought home by the famous navigator named Luis in 1771. This event was once a panic in society at that time. He did not do a few special things deserved great respect, instead, what the sailor just did was some things necessary for survival. In general, he performed negatively rather than positively. But what Defoe described was the represent of new class of capitalism which was an ideal hero who announced the importance of work and development. He was against just enjoying life and content with that people should be full of curiosity, the desire of conquer and the sprit of risk to develop outward, which proved the convention of western ocean civilization. This book highly praised the work sprite and quality of persistence in human being, which had created the new way for western realism. The main plots of《Robinson Crouse》are introduced as follows:Robinson Crusoe was born in the year 1632, in the city of York, of a good family. As he always wanted to travel around the world by sea, he did not listen to his father’s sincereadvice and left his home, becoming a crew of a ship. They were attacked by pirates somewhere near the shore of Africa. After that he became a slaver. The life of being a slaver was actually tough and upset that he could not bear. Finally, he got a chance and he grasped it and successfully escaped from that place. Fortunately, he was saved by a Spanish vessel on the way to Brazil. When he arrived at Brazil, he started to manage plantation and he made a great fortune. He made up his mind again to make a voyage as some people suggested him sailing to Africa for trading black slave. He was knocked down again by his inclination to go to the sea. This time was beginning of his unfortunate. The ship encountered a big storm that they had never seen before. With six days’ and nights’ blowing and trembling, the ship was finally all swallowed up. No one had a life exclude Robinson who was rushed to the beach of an unknown island by waves. Although he luckily survived but he at the same time faced the challenge he had never experienced. In order to make a living, he began to transmit things in the ship to the island including grain, cloth, tools and so on. With thesematerials, he started his life in the island alone. Living such a lonely life that no one talked to him and sometimes he did not say any word at all for about one week, he had to read《bible》to fulfill his sprit every day. However, with the amazing determination and persistent labor, he built his own house, gained grain, tamed goats and made cloth with animals’ leather. Later, he adopted a wild man as his servant and named him Friday. At the period of time, he experienced plenty of disturbances until a British ship came here and Robinson helped the captain to subdue the rebels. After that, he was picked up back to Britain where he had been away foryears. When he went back home, his parents had already passed away. Robinson resumed all the profits of his plantation in Brazil and gave part of them to people who had ever helped him.One of the critics in Britain said: “If people want to grasp the sprit that is full of energy and confidence, nothing better than Defoe and ,《Robinson Crouse》. That is, as the classic adventure, doer and colonist, Robinson always has its valuable place in the history of didacticism.《The Book Thief》Everyone has the same start that he or she comes to the world crying and the same ending that is death. In the western myth, death is cold and chill with a long sickle in his handto reap lives and take people away from the noisy world. The relater in written by Markus Zusak was the death who wondered around the streets taking away lives as God told him. However, the death was not indifferent. He used his dark eyes staring at some people’s sprits. When he reaped people’s lives, he could become tender as well. There was one Germany girl called “The book thief” by him among all these sprits he focused on. The girl’s name was Liesel Meminger. She had ever stolen six books totally and written a fiction according her own experience. That was the reason why the death called her “the book thief”. The death was pretty tender to the girl: She lived a long life and finally passed away peacefully in her sweet sleeping. However, the death nearly took everybody’s life one by one around her: First, her father as a member of German Party was sent to the prison. Later, she watchedher brother being killed who was only six years old; several years later, her adoptive parents were murdered by Germany soldiers. Rudy, a boy who smiled a lot and ran like a bird was killed as well.Planes, tanks, bombs and so many other modern products were much more precise and efficient to take away lives, which made the death appear lots of times everyday. Dead bodies, wandering sprits and the busy death were the pictures described by this book. It was something to tell people that no truth in people’s life and death was the final meaning. And because of that the fiction also hid a question that where was the meaning of living when we faced the final existence of death? We can see from the book that the meaning doesn’t lie in the lifestyle of Hitler which is emphasizing struggling by oneself, standing on the top of the privilege and building his plan on dismissing others’life. Living like this is worse than dyeing directly. Likewise, the meaning of life does not lie in giving up thinking about life, disposing of inner humanism and ignoring and insulting lives which are filled with weakness. These Nazi people ignored Jews who suffereda lot, which resulted in the final ending that their lives gradually became noting with development of the World War Two.The massage 《The book thief》tries to convey is quite simple: It is the very reason that we can not resist death why the real stuff is the most valuable treasure God gives us. Every life, regardless of Germen or Jew and child or adult deserves to be respected equally. The girl’s name was Liesel Meminger who became an orphan after her father’s being caught, her brother’s death and his mother’s missing. What a great sorrow for such a little girl who wasonly years old. Inferiority, stubbornness, flimsiness and loneliness fill up her heart and she always longed for love and safety. She just wanted to get relief and suck the sprit energy from the words in the book stolen by her to prevent herself from loneliness. The life of Max Vandenburg who was a Jew deserved respect. In order to escape the ethnic cleaning, he had no way but lived a life in the basement of Beumer’s house like a mouse that could not exposed to the sunlight. What he eager for was a life withfreedom and dignity. When residents of Hammill Block hid in the bomb shelter for safety, Max took a risk going out basement to see the moon though the window at which he hadn’t looked for nearly2days without considering the threat from the air. He came back to the basement and wrote the beautiful but desperate sentence:“Stars lighted up my eyes while looking though out the window of Hammill Block.” The rights of being loved, living and freedom combined together and that is the respect to lives. They always shouted to love and concern which has surpassed concept of racial, sexism, age, blood relationship and so on. In , the doer was Liesel’s adoptive father-Hans Hubermann. He respected every life. He helped his adopted daughter to scatter the nightmare, strake her sorrow, teach her writing and reading and give her endless love. In spite of knowing about the dander of taking Jews in, he decided to protect Max Vandenburg as much as he could. When he watched Jews were captured by Germen on the street, he couldn’t help approaching and giving the old Jew a piece of loaf in his hand. He was beat heavily by the Germany soldiers because of that. The same thing happened whenthe person was Leisel’s adoptive mother, Rose Hubermann who had this kind of love as well. She yet couldn’t know a lot about her daughter’s inner world like his husband did, but she could hold her daughter’s hands firmly while the plane throwing bombs. The smart, strong and bold woman who brought the hot food to Max at the first time accepted him with her real action. This kind of parents had this kind of kid who’s like Liesel. She read books for people who hid in the shelter when bombs exploded outside in order to comfort them. She lived with Max and Bowman’s. They loved each other, cared each other and enjoyed mutual respect and emotion, finally becoming relatives who were bone of the bone and fresh as close as fresh and blood. She changed this kind of emotion as the deep sympathy to the whole Jews. In , it was the war brought by Hitler that killed numerous people like the couple of Bowman as one hand, on the other hand, it was the people who ought to havebeen already forgotten that survived with the help of Bowman. They were “the book thief” Liesel,Max and so on. On the one side, there was nonsense death and destruction going on, on the other side, love that resisted death and subdued death was being created. This was such a complex world that made death confused and moved deeply. How to Write a Book/Reading Report? Teachers love to assign book reports. Did you ever wonder why? 英文阅读期刊读书报告Recently, I had the opportunity to read and analyze a research journal in English. The following is a summary of my readings. The research journal I reviewed focused on the topic of climate change and its impact on global ecosystems. The study was conducted by a team of scientists from various universities and research institutions worldwide. Their goal was to examine the changes occurring in different ecosystems and the potential consequences for biodiversity. The authors began by providing an overview of climate change and its causes, emphasizing the role of human activities such as deforestation, industrialization, and greenhouse gas emissions. They highlighted the importance of understanding these factors in order to develop effective strategies for mitigating the negative effects of climate change.Next, the researchers presented their findings on the impact of climate change on terrestrial ecosystems. They discussed how rising temperatures and changing precipitation patterns have led to shifts in vegetation distribution, altered growing seasons, and exacerbated the spread of invasive species. These changes have significant implications for biodiversity, as they disrupt ecological interactions and can result in the decline or loss of certain species. The journal also explored the impact of climate change on marine ecosystems. The authors discussed how rising ocean temperatures and acidification have led to coral bleaching, the destruction of critical habitats, and changes in marine species distribution.Furthermore, they highlighted the consequences of these changes, such as decreased fish populations, loss of coastal protection, and reduced food security for communities reliant on marine resources. In addition to discussing the impact on ecosystems, the researchers also outlined potential adaptation strategies. They highlighted the importance of conservation efforts, such as protected areas and habitat restoration, in preserving biodiversity. They also emphasized the need for policies that promote sustainable practices, such as reducing greenhouse gas emissions and transitioning to renewable energy sources.Overall, the journal provided a comprehensive overview of the effects of climate change on global ecosystems. The authors presented compelling evidence to support their claims and highlighted the urgency of addressing this issue. This research is crucial in informing policymakers, scientists, and the general public about the importance of taking action to mitigate and adapt to climate change. In conclusion, the research journal I reviewed shed light on the significant impact of climate change on global ecosystems. It emphasized the need for collective efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, protect habitats, and promote sustainable practices. By understanding the consequences of climate change and implementing effective strategies, we can strive towards a more sustainable future for our planet.。

The novel by the characters presented to us are both positive and negative of the combination.Scarlett, the leading character in the novel, impressed me the most. When she faceddifficulties she would say: Tomorrow is another day. Yeah, what a reasonable sentence. It’s of great philosophic theory. It told us to be confident to life. When I meet difficulty, I will tell myself: tomorrowis another day.Gone with the Wind has a very significant position in our society. The author gave him an honest answer without think. To make him understand, the author explained a lot.Through detailed introduction of the author, we got she designed America’s first online counseling center for distance learners. Distance learning, or educational programs where pupil and professor never meet face-to-face, are nothing new. And the author taught psychology and career development .Her post is the World Wide Web. Posting assignments to electronic bulletin boards and sending graded papers across the international phone lines in traffic-free email packets. In today's society, some people think that, along with the rapid popularization of the Internet, network education will be on the traditional education in a profound revolution, will eventually replace the traditional education. Thetraditional education network education have class than study atmosphere, the teachers and students to exchange, classroom teaching is easy to control, easy to learning motivation and other advantages, inaddition, documented learning resources networkdigital learningresources than more easy to use and carry, network education is also has many advantages, but it can only to the traditional education in a supplementary role, should not also can't replace the traditional education.

对外经济贸易大学英语学院研究生读书报告特殊用途英语研究新方向浅读The reading of the New Directions in English for Specific Purposes Research姓名高晓倩学号 201510621366专业外国语言及应用语言学方向跨文化商务交际导师史兴松The reading of the New Directions in English for Specific PurposesResearch1 Introduction1.1BackgroundESP (English for Specific Purpose) was born in English-speaking countries in 1960s. The emergence and development of ESP can be summarized as the following three reasons: English became the common language for economy, science and cultural; the focus of linguistics transferred from the characteristics of language features to the practical applies of language; the recognition of learners’central role from educational psychology. Recently, developments in areas including demand analysis, genre analysis, discourse analysis and the rhetoric have pushed forward the development of ESP. ESP teaching focuses on the reasons for learners to learn a language. (Ma, 2010) Thus demand analysis becomes an important direction in ESP research. Highly structuralized and having clear communication goal and target and specific topic, ESP thus has different genres from others and genre analysis becomes important for ESP research. (Yang, 2006) So do discourse analysis and the rhetoric. Different schools like those mentioned above, began to publish their work and in this background, Michigan University published this book in 2011.1.2About the AuthorAll of the three editors Diane Belcher, Ann M. Johns and Brian Paltridge were once the chief editor of English for Specific Purposes: An International Journal and internationally famous experts in the research of ESP. Diane Belcher is a professor in Georgia State University. Brian Paltridge is a professor in the University of Sydney. This book was compiled by the team work among the three editors and several ESP researchers. John Swales, who established genre theory, wrote the conclusions for this book.2Summary of the BookThis book includes eleven chapters and the editors divided the book into two parts: ESP research direction and ESP research approaches. The first is from chapter one to five. The first chapter by Ken Hyland proved the importance to carry out ESP teaching. The second chapter by Brian Paltridge and Wei Wang discussed discoursefeatures of news report and revealed the ideological difference of different media on the same news. The third chapter by An Cheng pointed out that five factors including course background, teaching target, teaching material choosing and classroom activities, teaching method and homework assessment not only influence ESP teaching, but also is an important part in classroom researches for ESP. The fourth chapter was wrote by Diane Belcher and Lauren Lukkarila and mainly told that in demand analysis, the subjective attitude of learners should be fully considered to have a good ESP teaching effect. The fifth chapter by Anna Mauranen introduced the establishing process and the principle of the first spoken-English corpus with English as the world academic lingua franca. The second part is from six to eleven. The first two chapters focused on the use of genre analysis. John Flowerdew reviewed the three schools of genre analysis theory and explained how to combine these tree theories together. Christine Tardy pointed out that multi-dimension genre analysis is more favorable to dig up the dynamic, situational and intertextual features of the text. Chapter eight and nine discussed the use of critical ethnography in ESP. In chapter ten, Lynne Flowerdew discussed the issues of corpus and reflected the influence of bottom-up and top-down method to the analysis. The last chapter discussed how to improve the reliability and effect of the whole research by combining the corpus with critical discourse analysis.Even though the chapters of this book were all from different writers, all of them pointed out the connection between chapters. Moreover, the patterns of all chapters were almost the same. Thus, every chapter reviewed the theories and research findings, allowing the readers find the position of each chapter’s topic in the ESP area and the accurate structure of each chapter make it better for researchers to be familiar with academic standard and carry out researches.3Analysis,Evaluation & CritiqueThe distinction of this book is its introduction of not only the research directions in ESP but also the research approaches. Books such as The Theory and Application in English for Specific Purpose edited by Huang Ping introduced only one research direction, the teaching of ESP, and didn’t involve any research approach for readers. Thus The New Directions in English for Specific Purposes Research is easier for readers to read and grasp the whole picture of ESP researches. Presently, most ESPseries books are about curriculum setting or teaching material and in these books, readers may learn the application of ESP in curriculum setting or teaching material but can’t grasp the whole picture of how and where ESP develops. However, books like Learn to Write Better Academic Essays, Cambridge English for the Media and so on are about EOP (English for Occupational Purposes), which is not mentioned a lot in The New Directions in English for Specific Purposes Research. The thesis of this book is to introduce important research topics and approaches in ESP area. This book is necessary and significant for many reasons. Firstly, it discussed the topic of ESP teaching, which is of practical use but is ignored by people. Just as John M. Swales said: “over the 50-year history of ESP, all too little careful in what actually happens in our classes.”Secondly, it discussed some acutely discussed topics which are also disputable. Ken Hyland used corpus data proved that even common genres including reports and lectures, have great expression difference in different disciplinary environment. What’s more, it also involves topics haven’t been focused yet. For example, researches in spoken-English of Chinese scholars are rarely focused. The introduction of establishing and using academic spoken-English corpus provides precious experience for establishing Chinese academic spoken-English corpus. This book’s strength lies in its many research methods, including text analysis, genre analysis, literature analysis, interview, observation, critical ethnography, corpus analysis and so on. Wherein, critical ethnography and corpus account for a large part. Researches in ESP now are not only limited to describing language forms, while they begin to focus on the situation of communication. The critical ethnographical research method can deeply dig up the subtle and complex connections between the text and situation and reflect the implicit factors, such as cultural background, ideology and so on. What’s more, its organization is very clear and easy to understand. Though this book is an excellent work, there are still some weaknesses. It used most chapters to discuss ESP in academic area and left out EOP, an important branch of ESP. Considering that EOP, especially Business English, is widely used presently, it should be included in this book. What’s more, this book mainly focuses on ESP researches in writing and seldom discusses those in spoken-English, reading and listening, which is really a great pity. Furthermore, for all the chapters are thesis from different writers, some of the book’s content is repetitive. To sum up, The New Directions in English for Specific Purposes Research is highly recommended, for it’s quite authoritative and accurate for academic research, itprovides readers with abundant materials in ESP researches and it has clear organization and structure for reader to understand.4ConclusionsIn conclusion, this book provides a large amount of great materials for readers to learn. Introduction of research focus and newly emerging research directions and methods in ESP make the book special and necessary. A little imperfection is that this book ignores EOP and ESP research in spoken-English, reading and listening, but this is also a new perspective for us to study. China though has made some achievement in ESP research, it still doesn’t have a whole ESP theory with Chinese characteristics and this book must be a great push to the development of ESP in China.References1.Baidu Wenku. 2010.
