Some animals are covered scales. which are small plates that protect their skin. Reptiles have day scales, while fish have smooth, wet scales.

Birds are covered by feathers.

Feathers keep birds warm and keep water out. They also help birds to fly.

不会受到捕食者的伤害。

Some animals have a protective

shell covering their body.

This shell acts like armor to protect

the animals soft body from predator.

陆龟和海龟既有鳞又有壳。

Skin

有的动物身上是皮肤，

两栖动物有柔软的潮湿的皮肤，

有的哺乳动物的皮肤上也有毛发，

但不会像有皮毛的动物那么多。

Some animals are covered in skin.

Amphibians are covered in soft, moist skin.

Mammals that are covered in skin also have hair.

But not as much as animals that have fur.
