Life in the future李仕才第一节阅读理解阅读下面的短文,从每题所给的A、B、C和D项中选出最佳选项。
AEven as we breathe a sigh of relief watching the rescue of 33 miners trapped in a Chilean mine for more than two months, there is recognition that their recovery from this traumatic experience involves more than just their physical health. Surrivors of disasters are at significant risk for such problems as depression and anxiety. In an upcoming report,George A.Bonanno and colleagues note that disasters result in extreme psychological harm in a minority of individuals—less than 30% of samples experience severe levels of these psychological problems. Just as there are a wide range of problems experienced following disasters, Bonanno and his coauthors observe there are also a number of outcome patterns. Some survivors will exhibit chronic dysfunction (慢性功能障碍) but the majority will go on to recover psychological function within a few months or years.Following disasters, the most common form of immediate psychological intervention(介入) is Critical Incident Stress Debriefing (CISD) (危机事件应激晤谈).However, following a review of studies on the effectiveness of CISD, Bonanno and co authors conclude, “Multiple studies h ave shown that CISD is not only ineffective but,as suggested earlier,in some cases can actually be psychologically harmful.“The data on crisis debriefing suggest that imposing such interventions on individuals doesn't work,”Lilienfeld says.“If some of the miners want to talk to somebody to express their feelings, then by all means mental health professionals should be there to listen to them and support them. But for miners who would prefernot to talk much about the experience, it's best to leave them alone and respect their own coping mechanisms (应对机制).”According to Bonanno and his coauthors, there are treatments that may be effective in helping survivors recover from disasters.Psychological first aid (PFA) ——which, among other things, provides practical help and helps develop a sense of safety and calmness among survivors——is a promising approach. For example, the communitycentered intervention—which helps maintain a sense of connectedness and quality of community life——is beneficial to survivors of disasters.1.Which of the following can replace the underlined word“traumatic”in the first paragraph?A.Amusing B.UpsettingC.Impressive D.Memorable2.What can be inferred from Lilienfeld's words?A.The choices of interventions should follow the survivors' will.B.The survivors should often ask health professionals for advice.C.It's beneficial for the survivors to communicate with each other.D.The miners should be respected for their hard and dangerous work.3.According to the passage, which of the following methods is generally more effective?A.Help survivors fit in their communities.B.Urge survivors to join in volunteer programs.C.Ask survivors to speak out their experiences.D.Leave survivors alone to improve their emotions.4.What is the passage mainly about?A.The types of psychological problems.B.The harmful effects of mine accidents.C.The new research about the mental activity.D.The psychological help for survivors of disasters.语篇解读:绝大多数灾难幸存者都会产生一定的心理问题,因此对他们进行心理疏导是极其重要的。
【K12教育学习资料】[学习]2019高考英语一轮选训习题 Unit 3 A healthy lif
选修6 Unit 3 A healthy life李仕才一、阅读理解In bringing up children, every parent watches eagerly the child’s acquisition of each new skill-the first spoken words, the first independent steps, or the beginning of reading and writing. It is often tempting to hurry the child beyond his natural learning rate, but this can set up dangerous feelings of failure and states of worry in the child: This might happen at any stage. A baby might be forced to use a toilet too early, a young child might be encouraged to learn to read before he knows the meaning of the words he reads. On the other hand, though, if a child is left alone too much, or without any learning opportunities, he loses his natural enthusiasm for life and his desire to find out new things for himself.Patents vary greatly in their degree of strictness towards their children. Some may be especially strict in money matters. Others are severe over times of coming home at night or punctuality for meals. In general, the controls imposed represent the needs of the parents and the values of the community as much as the child’s own happiness. As regards the development of moral standards in the growing child, consistency is very important in parental teaching. To forbid a thing one day and excuse it the next is no foundation for morality. Also, parents should realize that “example is better than precept”. If they are not sincere and do not practice what they teach, their children may grow confused, and emotionally insecure when they grow old enough to think for themselves, and realize they have been to some extent fooled.A sudden awareness of a marked difference between their parents’ principles and their morals can be a dangerous disappointment.1.Eagerly watching the child’s acquisition of new skills ______.A. should be avoidedB.is universal among parentsC. sets up dangerous states of worry in the childD. will make him lose interest in learning new things2.In the process of children’s learning new skills, parents ______.A. should encourage them to read before they know the meaning of the words they readB. should not expect too much of themC. should achieve a balance between pushing them too hard and leaving them on their ownD. should create as many learning opportunities as possible3.The second paragraph mainly tells us that ______.A. parents should be strict with their childrenB. parental controls reflect only the needs of the parents and the values of the communityC. parental restrictions vary, and are not always intended for the benefit of the children aloneD. parents vary in their strictness towards their children according to the situation4.In moral matters, parents should _______.A. observe the rules themselvesB.be aware of the marked difference between adults and childrenC. forbid things which have no foundation in moralityD. consistently ensure the security of their children【文章大意】在孩子的成长过程中,父母的教育与期望值要有一个“度”,不能揠苗助长;同时,父母也要以身作则,为孩子树立一个榜样。

2019年高考英语阅读理解一轮练(6)李仕才ALife satisfaction is the way persons evaluate their lives and how they feel about their directions and options for the future. It's a measure of well-being and may be evaluated in terms of mood, satisfaction with relations with others and with achieved goals and self-concepts to cope with daily life. It's having a favorable attitude towards one's life as a whole rather than just an evaluation of current feelings. Life satisfaction has been measured in relation to economy, education, experiences, and residence, as well as many other topics.Life satisfaction can reflect experiences that have influenced a person in, a positive way. These experiences have the ability to motivate people to pursue and reach their goals. As a matter of fact, in these experiences there are two kinds of emotions that may positively influence how people understand their life. Hope and optimism both consist of emotional processes that are usually directed towards the reaching of goals. People who have higher life satisfaction are always full of hope for a better future; additionally, optimism is linked to higher life satisfaction, while pessimism is related to symptoms in depression. The psychologist, Yuval Palgi, studied the old-old-people who were primarily in their nineties. This subject group was found to have thought highly of their past and present, but they thought lower of their future. A large factor that was talked about in life satisfaction was intelligence. The experiments talk of how life satisfaction grows as people become older because they become wiser and more knowledgeable, so they begin to see that life will be better as they grow older and understand the important things in life more. But when they step into their nineties, future becomes a luxury to them.According to Seligman, the happier people are, the less they are focused on the negative. Happier people also have a greater tendency to like other people, which promotes a happier environment, which then correlates to a higher level of the persons' satisfaction with their life.1.What can we learn about life satisfaction from Paragraph 1?A. It can be easily measured through income and education.B. It includes a positive attitude towards people's entire life.C. It merely determines people's attitude towards the future.D. It has nothing to do with the evaluation of current feelings.2.What emotions have a positive effect on life satisfaction?A. Motivation and dream.B. Hope and depression.C. Optimism and pessimism.D. Hope and optimism.3.What was the attitude of most old-old towards their future?A. They were less hopeful about it.B. They thought highly of it.C. They felt satisfied with it.D. They were scared of it.4.What may be the best title for the text?A. Old People Have Much More Life SatisfactionB. Life Satisfaction—the Key to a Happier LifeC. Optimism Ensures Life SatisfactionD. Emotions Affect Life Satisfaction【文章大意】本文为议论文。

Ⅰ.阅读理解ARoyale is surrounded by deep blue waters of Lake Superior, the largest freshwater lake on Earth. The only way to get there is by boat or sea plane. The National Park Service operates shuttle boats that take visitors to Isle Royale. The boats leave from two Michigan ports. A boat trip to Isle Royale takes three to five hours. Waters are often extremely rough.Modern copper mining began in the late 1800s, resulting in large areas of the island being burned. This led to settlement development. Soon, Isle Royale became popular for summer homes. It became a national park on April 3, 1940. In 1980, officials named it an International Biosphere Reserve (生物圈保护区) because of its unique ecosystem.Isle Royale offers hiking, camping, boating, and even scuba diving. The National Park Service protects 11 sunken (沉没的) boats for divers to explore. They are reminders of Lake Superior's commercial shipping history. The sunken wooden ship called The America is one of the most popular dive sites. The America carried passengers, mail, and supplies to many towns along the shores of Lake Superior. It first launched in 1898, and was used until 1928, when it was damaged. It sank to the bottom of the lake soon after.Visitors to Isle Royale share the trails with a well-studied population of wolves. Scientists believe wolves walked there during a freeze of the lake sometime in the 1940s. Researchers closely record their population numbers. Much of the research takes place during the winter, when the trees are bare. The researchers fly over the island to observe the animals from above.Animal research is the only winter activity going on at Isle Royale. The national park is closed each year in late October because of the terrible weather conditions and reopens in spring time the next year. But for the other months of the year, Isle Royale offers green forests, and clear blue waters. Its excellent scenery and unusual location keep visitors returning year after year.篇章导读:本文是一篇说明文。

Unit 1 ArtⅠ.阅读理解A[2018·四川广安一诊]It is true that tea comes from a plant known as Camellia sinensis. The different types of tea depend upon the region in which it is grown, harvesting time and the procedure of processing. Basically, there are four major classes of tea: white, oolong, green and black tea.One of the least processed and, the purest forms of tea are the white tea. This tea type has very low content of caffeine and appears a light color, as the name indicates and a mild flavor. Due to the presence of high amount of healthy chemicals, it is helpful in fighting skinrelated health problems and in getting a fair color of skin.Another tea type is the oolong tea, also called as wulong tea at some places which has very rich flavor and has a sweet fragrance. It is fermented (发酵) but to a limited level because of which, the caffeine content in it is about 15% of what is in a cup of coffee. Drinking this tea proves to be useful in treating obesity, which is reducing the weight. As opposing to oolong tea, the black tea is fully fermented, as a result of which it has caffeine of approximately 20% of what is present in a cup of coffee. If you consume black tea every day, you will be able to regulate the cholesterol (胆固醇) levels in the body and also keeping your circulatory system healthy. It also adjusts cardiovascular (心血管的) function. The last tea type is the green tea that is mostly preferred by many people owing to its multiple health benefits. Similar to the white tea, this tea also has less caffeine that is only 5%10% of caffeine in one cup of coffee. This type of tea is also good to maintain the cholesterol and blood sugar levels within the acceptable range. In addition, they help in preventing tooth rot and other teethrelated ill ness. So, you can choose that variety that you find good with regardto its taste and health benefits.篇章导读:本文是一篇说明文。

2019高考英语一轮阅读理解选练(3)李仕才AA business school in Paris will soon begin using artificial intelligence and facial analysis to determine whether students are paying attention in class. The software, called Nestor, is used in two online classes at the ESG business school beginning in September. The idea, according to LCA founder Marcel Saucet, is to use the data that Nestor collects to improve the performance of both students and professors. The software uses students webcams(网络摄像机)to analyze eye movements and facial expressions and determine whether students are paying attention to a video lecture. It then formulates quizzes based on the content covered during moments of inattentiveness. Professors would also be able to identify moments when students’ attention d eclined, which could help to improve their teaching, Saucet says.Advocates for AI in education say that the software is actually unable to teach a course, but the technology could be used as a digital tutor that would adapt to a student’s individual needs, and help develop more effective studying habits. Such software could also help teachers by providing feedback on the effectiveness of their teaching, advocates say.Saucet says Nestor won’t store any of the video footage it gets and that his company has no plans to sell any other data the software collects. In addition to facial recognition and analysis, the software can integrate(合并)with students’ calendars to suggest possible study times, and track their online behavior to pick up on patterns.Rose Luckin, a professor at the University College London Knowledge Lab, says AI could unlock the “black box of learning” by providing information on how and when learning happens. Luckin says a program like Nestor could be useful for students who take classes remo tely, since “there isn’t a human there watching them.” And while some are concerned that AI may one day replace teachers, Luckin sees the technology more as an assistant, rather than a replacement. Saucet agrees. “Human contact is not going to go away,” he says. “There will always be professors.”1.How does Nestor work to find out when students aren’t paying attention?A. By collecting the data of students’ performance in different classes.B. By collecting the students’ grades in the quizzes.C. By shooti ng and analyzing students’ eye movements and facial expressions..D. By identifying moments when students’ attention declined.2.Which is the benefit of AI education?A. It could be used exactly to replace a tutor.B. It helps student to develop more effective studying habits.C. The software is able to satisfy the requirement of a course.D. It could help teachers to give feedback on students’ performance..3.How does Nestor deal with the information collected from students?A. Nestor will use it to sugges t possible study time to students’ schedule.B. It won’t store any video footage but facial expression.C. The company hasn’t expected to make profits by selling the data to other corporations..D. Nestor will use it to keep track online of students’ behav ior and punish them.4.What is Rose Luckin’s attitude towards the replacement of teachers with AI?A. Objective.B. Approving.C. Indifferent.D. Unit 1 A land of diversityⅠ.阅读理解AA new study by the British government has discovered the mental health of the country's teenage girls has become worse. The survey, which included 30,000 14yearold students in 2005 and 2014, showed 37 percent of girls with psychological stress, up from 34 percent in 2005. British boys' stress level was actually seen to fall over the same time period, from 17 percent to 15 percent. The report's authors pointed out the “advent of the social media age” could be a major contributing factor for increased stress among teenage British girls.“The adolescent years are a time of rapid physical, cognitive (认知的) and emotional development,”Pam Ramsden, a lecturer in psychology at the University of Bradford in the United Kingdom, wrote in a recent blog post.“Teenagers interact with people in order to learn how to become competent (有能力的)adults. In the past, they would engage with parents, teachers and other adults in their community as well as extended family members and friends. Now we can also add social media to that list of social and emotional development.”Throughout adolescence, girls and boys develop characteristics like confidence and selfcontrol. Since teenage brains have not comp letely developed, teens don't have the cognitive awareness and impulse (冲动)control to keep from posting inappropriate content. Furthermore, this content can easily be spread far and wide with disastrous influences.Social media can also fe ed into girls' insecurities about their appearance, Ramsden said. These sites are often filled with images of people with body typeunattainable to the normal person. However, these images and the messages tied to them gradually become societal standards.[语篇解读] 一项新研究发现,英国少女的心理健康状况变得更糟;分析表明,社交媒体时代的到来可能是造成英国少女心理压力加大的主要因素。

Neither Pine nor Apple in PineappleHave you ever asked yourself why people often have trouble learning English? I hadn’t, until one day my five-year-old son asked me whether there was ham in a hamburger. There isn’t. This made me realize that there’s no egg in eggplant either. Neither is there pine nor apple in pineapple. This got me thinking how English can be a crazy language to learn. For example, in our free time we can sculpt a sculpture and paint a painting, but we take a photo. And when we are traveling we say that we are in the car or the taxi, but on the train or bus! While we’re doing all this traveling, we can get seasick at sea, airsick in the air and carsick in a car, but we don’t get homesick when we get back home. And speaking of home, why aren’t homework and housework the same thing? If “hard” is the opposite of “soft”, why are “hardly” and “softly” not an opposing pair? If harmless actions are the opposite of harmful actions, why are shameless and shameful behaviors the same? When we look out of the window and see rain or snow, we can say “it’s raining” or “it’s snowing”. But when we see sunshine, we can’t say “it’s sunshining”.Even the smallest of words can be confusing.
