● 2 satisfy vt. 使……满足

●3 compare with/to与……相比
[点拨] 该词组常以compared with/to 的形式出现,作为独立状语,意为“与……比较起来”。Compared with their parents, the children of this generation lack much outdoor experience.与他们的父母比起来,这一代孩子缺少很多户外经验。

[点拨] 该句中动词不定式“to climb the steps”作主语;为了保持句子结构前后平衡,避免头重脚轻,用it作形式主语置于句首;it只起先行引导作用,本身无词义。

[拓展] 当不定式(短语)、动名词(短语)或从句在复合宾语结构中作某些动词(如think, make, find,consider, feel, suppose等)的宾语时,为了保持句子结构平衡,避免句式结构的混乱,常用it作形式宾语,而将真正的宾语放在句尾,此时it仍只起先行引导作用,本身无词义。
We found it very pleasant that we worked with them.
我们发现与他们合作很愉快。
I don't feel it difficult to understand what he said.
我觉得理解他的话并不难。
●2 Who do you think is the greatest person in history,Eddie?埃迪,你认为历史上最伟大的人是谁?
[点拨] 该句中的“do you think”是插入语,去掉后不影响整句话的特殊疑问句语序。固定句型为“特殊疑问词+do you think/suppose/believe/imagine+主语+谓语+其他?”
What do you believe is the most important thing in your life?
你认为你生活中最重要的事情是什么?
Which city do you think is the most beautiful one in China?
你觉得中国最美丽的城市是哪个?
● 3 On 20 July 1969,Armstrong became the first man to walk on the moon. 1969年7月20日,阿姆斯特朗成为第一个登上月球的人。
[点拨] “the first man to walk on the moon”是不定式作后置定语修饰名词。不定式作定语时,常放在所修饰的名词或代词后面。the first/second/next/last…to do sth意为“第几个做某事的人”。
I have a lot of homework to do this evening.
今天晚上我有许多作业要做。
Do you have anything else to say?
你还有别的要说的吗?
He is always the last one to leave the classroom.
他一直是最后一个离开教室的人。
Don't hurry. You are the next to play the game.
别着急。下一个就轮到你玩这个游戏了。
●4 Mr Jiang did not know what to do with it. 姜先生不知道怎样处理它(机器人)。
[点拨] “疑问词+不定式”在句中当“名词”用,可以改写成相应的从句。在这种结构中,疑问代词须接及物动词或相当于及物动词的短语(who,which除外)。
I am not sure how to behave at the dinner table.
=I am not sure how I should behave at the dinner table. 我不确定该如何在餐桌旁表现。
●5 Humans can't survive without water, oxygen or food.
没有水、氧气或者食物,人类就不能生存。
[点拨] 此句可以改写成if引导的条件状语从句“Humans can't survive if they don't have water,oxygen or food.”
[拓展] (1)条件状语从句、时间状语从句和原因状语从句可用介词短语改写。
I can't finish my work on time if you don't help me
=I can't finish my work on time without your help.
如果没有你的帮助,我就不能按时完成我的工作。
(2)宾语从句在一些介词,如of,about等的辅助作用下,可以改写成简单句。
Are you sure that you will pass the coming English test?
=Are you sure of passing the coming English test?
