A. Lead-in知识导入
Conversation 1
Tom: When did Mary learn about the truth, Lucy?
Lucy: Only after she read her mother’s letter.

⚫Read the following sentences and underline the parts in inverted word order.

以下情况时,句子通常要部分倒装:
1)only +状语(__________________________)位于句首时,主谓结
构需倒装。

例如:
Only by working hard can we succeed in everything.
注:only +主语位于句首时,语序不变。

例如:
Only she can answer the question.
2)__________________________________never, seldom, little, hardly,
nowhere, in no way, at no time, by no means, no longer, under no circumstance, in no case等位于句首时,需部分倒装。

例如:
Not a single book had he read that month.
Nowhere could I find him.
By no means shall I meet him halfway.
3)在No sooner. . . than. . . , Hardly /Scarcely. . . when. . .,Not until...等
结构中,否定词_______________时,主句的主谓结构通常需要倒装。

例如:
No sooner had we sat down to dinner than the phone rang.
Hardly had the performance begun when the lights went out,
Not until she saw the present did she feel happy.
4)not only_______________时,其主谓结构部分倒装。

例如:
Not only was the city polluted but the streets were crowded.
注:not only...but also...倒装在主句中。

例如:
Not only did I know her but also I was her best friend.

B: Conclusion
⚫句子的谓语位于主语的前面,这种结构称作倒装语序,且为全部倒装。

以下情况时,句子通常要全部倒装:
1)当副词away, off, out, in, up, down, over, here, there, then, now
__________时,且主语是具体的名词,谓语动词为be, come, go, exist等时,主谓直接倒装;但主语是代词时,主谓语序不变。

例如:
Away ran the terrified boy. 比较:Away he ran.
There goes the bell. 比较:Here you are.
Now comes your turn. 比较:Then he came up to me.
2)____________位于句首时,主谓直接倒装。

例如:
Outside the entrance stood two police officers with guns.
From the hole came a faint light.
3)充当表语的______________________________位于句首时,谓语
动词常为stand, sit, hang, lie等,主谓直接倒装。

例如:
Among the goods are Christmas trees, flowers, candles and toys. Present at the meeting was our headmaster, Mrs. Zhang.
