Acquisition of language is a very complex phenomenon.A small child absorbs its native language,or iftwo languages are spoken to it simultaneously(for example by the mother and the father),it can learn two.For adult learners it is usual to divide the skillsrequiredinto fourgroups,reading ,writing,listening and speaking.The method of teaching usually depends heavily on the moneyavailable,so what is best often means what can be afforded.
The best way to teach a foreign language hasexercisedthe mindsof teachers and those who pay,since it became necessary to have peoplecapable ofcommunicating with others of different linguistic heritage.There is debate over the relative value of smaller classes,the use of technology,such as language laboratories and on-line lessons,films,DVDs,course booksand so on.
In conclusion then,I partially agree with the statement,but believe the banning of advertising specific foods will not be entirely effective on its own.I think that if it is usedin conjunction witha number of other tactics,including education and changing the fat content of foods,it will give more of thedesired result.
In a very small group of around ten students,reading can be taught in an interesting way,as students read together and the teacher can pay attention to pronunciation,expression and the tone of voiceused.It is easier to identify help slower students and the group benefits from knowing each other well,which means they are less likely tobeembarrassedif they need help.Reading beyond the early stages isalmost impossibleto teach well to a really big lecture hall sized group.In this case technology,if available,will help.

Writing,the actual putting pen to paper,is amotor skilland some students find it easy whilst others find it difficult.It is important that the teacher can see that the letters are properly formed and in the right way,otherwise fast writing isdifficult,so a small group is ideal.Once students have masteredthe mechanics of writing,they need practice and that can be done at home.The higher skill levels need teaching,and group size is limited by the time available to the teacherto correct and comment on work.Working in a group can make discussion about good words and phrases useful.
Listening skills depend on what is available.Listening to a teacher is easier that listening to plays,television programmes or a discussion.More can be achieved witha smaller group because the teacher can judge the level of understanding much better.All these three could,if necessary, be at least introduced to a lecture theatre full of students,but,at a higher level,especially for students who arestruggling,much smaller groups,even one to one,is ideal.
