Should Control of Fossil Fuel Consumption

or Economic Growth Priority in Current China

As you concerned, since the Reform and Opening Policy was published, China has achieved a 8--10 percentage improvement in its economy in recent 20 years, which really shocked the world. But, at the same time, with the development of industries and most Chinese people holding a wrong viewpoint on economic development, China has experienced a large number of fossil fuel consumption and was suffering increasingly problems such as environmental pollution, shortage of resources and destruction of ecosystem. So, in a way, China's economy growth mentioned above is on the cost of environment. Well, thus, should China take any steps to control the use of fossil fuel or act on speeding up its development first?

In my opinion, controlling of fossil fuel consumption and economy growth, for China, are equally important and there should be no such saying as which prioritizes the other. As Mr Den once said, “You are sure to be attacked as long as you are not powerful enough.” China has the largest population of the world, she must develop as fast as she can to improve the living standards of the people who live in the area and to protect them from being attacked. And I think that is where its duty lies. But, also, I argue that China set some limit to energy usage and take more actions on resources saving to leave behind a valuable, clean, hopeful and livable place for her future generations, not somewhere full of wastes and useless mines. Maybe, I just guess, that is the reason why China has chosen the strategy of sustainable development(可持續發展)
