Introduction

As it is known to us all, music is a kind of universal language which can be used to communicate throughout the world, no matter who you are and where you are from in the world, and regardless of which language you speak, we can appreciate the beauty of music borderlessly. As one of the greatest ancient countries in the world, China has its own significant, fruitful musical culture. Classic music is one of the most typical music in that ancient musicians used special antique instruments, with their fantastic composition skills, to express their feelings about the world.

Body

Man cannot live without music, because as long as you are alive, you are accompanied with music. The steps of walking and the beating of the heart are the simplest kind of rhythm. That’s why the origin of music dates back to human genesis and comes out of labor.

Chinese music culture has a time-honored history; classical music was proved to be splendid thousands of years ago while Western music was

just at an infant stage. In the Spring and Autumn Period, the contention of a hundred schools of thought had collided sparks of music; In the Zhou Dynasty, the government established a musical institution which was in charge of ‘Dasile’. The instit ution taught three music courses that are the virtue of music, the language of music and the dance accompanied by music. Musical culture was highly advanced in the time of Zhou and Qin dynasties and thus it laid the foundation of ancient temperament’s development.

Music development reached its height in Sui and Tang dynasties, because the rulers of that time were very open-minded, and they appreciated and encouraged extensive kinds of music culture.

There are a variety of instruments in Chinese classic music culture, which are all unique in the world, such as Guzheng, Erhu, Pipa, Bamboo Flute, Guqin and Xiao. The ten most famous classical songs in China are all performed with these instruments.

Comments

Chinese classic music is an extremely important, indispensable part of Chinese culture, playing a pivotal role in completing its diversification. Chinese classic music is considered as the feast of sound, and as for me, I can’t help losing myself in it and enjoy the utmost relaxation. I believe

that it has the magic power to protect my inner peace from the complicated outer world. Some scientists have also proved that Chinese classic music can be used to tranquilize one’s mood.

Nowadays, most of us, especially young adults are chasing after the pop music bu t ignoring the classical music, which I think it’s kind of blindly following. Therefore, we have to take it into consideration of rejuvenating the classical music, or we will be someday regretful for the cultural loss.
