A: Knowledge
1. Students know some astronomic knowledge.
2. Students know the right order of the development of life
on the earth
B: Ability
1.Students can use some reading strategies, such as
guessing, key sentences, skimming, scanning and so on,
so as to get the main idea and some detailed information
of the reading as quickly as possible.
2.Students will learn how to cooperate with others by
discussing in groups.
C: Feelings and Attitudes
1.To love and protect our environment.
Important Points
1.Grasp the main idea and the structure of the passage.
2.Know the right order of the development of life and the
earth
3.Improve students’ reading ability.

Students can find the right order of the development of life and the earth.

A computer, A projector and some slides
Teaching Methods
Task-based teaching method : This is the first period for the reading, different tasks will be given to students in order to train their reading skills.
Learning Method:
1.Cooperative learning method: Students will learn by
cooperating with others to finish tasks in group work.
2.Individual learning method
Teaching Procedure
Step 1: lead-in
Lead in by asking students a few questions.
Step 2: Reading
1.Fast-reading
Ask student to read the text quickly and match the main idea with each paragraph. (Task 1)
2.Careful-reading:
Task 2: Ask students to read para.1-3 and loudly and carefully and finish task 2
Task 3: Ask students to read para.4-5 and put the right
order of the development of life.
Task 4: Ask students to choose the best answer according to the passage.
Step 3: Discussion
Activity: ask students to discuss what can we do to protect our earth and environment.
Step 4: Homework
1.Read and retell the passage.
2.Find out noun clauses in the reading passage. Teaching Reflection。
