（一）必背漂亮句

1 .Yesterday , another student and I , representing our university’s student association ,went to the Capital International Airport to meet this year’s international students .

昨天，我和另一个学生代表我们大学的学生会去首都国际机场迎接今年的国际学生。

1）本句是一个简单句，其中representing our university’s student association 是动词ing 短语作定语, 补充说明主语another student and I ，相当于非限制性定语从句，who represented our university’s ... The two girls ,representing our school ,went to attend the ceremony .

这两个女孩代表我们学校参加这个开幕式。1）to meet this year’s international students 是不定式短语作目的状语。

He raised his voice to make himself heard

by everyone .

他太高嗓门，为了使所有人都能听见他。

2 .After half an hour of waiting for their flight to arrive , I saw several young people enter the waiting area looking around curiously .

在等了半个小时之后，我看见几个年轻人走进了等候区，好奇地向四周张望。looking around curiously是动词ing短语作enter的伴随状语。

eg I stood for a minute watching them and

then went to greet them .

2）不定式短语作定语常用于：

a）当名词被序数词、最高级或the last, the only （唯一）,the right（合适

的）修饰，且该名词与作定语的动词

是逻辑上的主动关系。

He was the right person to do the job.

（person与do 是主动关系）

他是做这份工作的合适人选。

This is the last bus to arrive at the village .

（bus与arrive 是主动关系）

这是到这个村庄的最后一班车。

b）常用不定式作定语的名词：chance/opportunity;attempt;

plan ;promise；wish ;ability等。

He made an attempt to stand up .

他试图站起来。

4 .She stepped back appearing surprised and put up her hands , as if in defence .

她后退了几步，看上去有些吃惊，并举起

了手，好像是在自卫。

1）appearing surprised是动词ing短语作伴随状语，修饰stepped back。

2）as if in defence是省略的方式状语从句。as if in defence=as if she was in defence . The inspector looked around , as if（he was）in search of something .

5 .Not all cultures greet each the same way ,nor are they comfortable in the same way with touching or distance between people . 各种文化背景下人们互相问候的方式不尽相同，身体接触和相互间距离的程度也不一样。
