Dear Jim，

In your last letter, you wanted to learn something about the extracurricular reading in our school. Frankly speaking, the situation is not so encouraging. In fact most students seldom read outside class.

The reasons behind are various. First of all, quite a lot of students are burdened with too much homework. Still others haven’t formed such a habit of reading. I think it is quite necessary for the students to take up reading, and teachers should limit the amount of our homework so that students can have enough time to enjoy reading.

My First Cooking

Last Friday, the evening fell, but my parents didn’t come back home yet. Thinking about the supper, I stopped doing my homework and decided to make a meal for my family instead of just waiting.

It was my first cooking. I surfed on the internet with my cell phone to get the detailed information on how to do homely dishes. With the step-by-step directions, I managed to make my first dish. Then I tried to cook another. When my parents came back home, they couldn’t believe their eyes to see the dishes made by me. While my Mum was taking pictures, my Dad couldn’t wait to have a taste and gave me the thumbs up.

I would like to prepare more meals for my family!
