课堂漫议高中英语教学中的礼貌原则探究徐淑娟(安徽省界首中学 236500)摘要:在英语教学活动中融入礼貌原则,能够达到一种春风化雨、润物无声的教学效果,使学生真正乐于学,学于乐。
文章简要概述礼貌原则,重点分析其在高中英语教学课堂中的实际运用,探究在教学中如何合理运用礼貌原则。
关键词:礼貌原则 言语交际 教学质量礼貌是中华民族的传统美德,也是一种社会文化现象。
早在20世纪,英国著名语言学家Leech就提出了言语交际中的礼貌原则,礼貌原则的得体应用可以有效增强交际的效果。
而课堂是师生互动,进行言语交际、知识传递的主要场所。
高中生处在特殊的心理时期,他们渴望被认可,又很爱面子,如果教师在教学中没有顾及这一点,很容易使教学效果大打折扣。
与此相反,在相互尊重、平等的师生之间的语言交际中,教师得体的语言、宽容的心态、幽默的教风,会潜移默化地感染着每一位学生,从而提高教学效果。
一、礼貌原则英国学者Brown和Levinson(1978)通过实验证明,为了保持交际双方的良好社会关系,使交际在和平友好的气氛中进行,顺利地实现交际目的,就需要给对方留面子,即要使用礼貌语言。
这就是面子理论。
英国语言学家Leech 对Brown和Levinson的礼貌原则做了进一步的归纳和分类,总结出了礼貌原则:1.得体准则:尽力缩小对方的损失,尽力扩大对方的好处。
2.慷慨准则:尽力缩小自己的好处,尽力扩大自己的损失。
3.赞扬准则:尽力缩小对对方的诋毁,尽力扩大对对方的赞扬。
4.谦虚准则:尽力缩小对自己的赞扬,尽力扩大对自己的诋毁。
5.赞同准则:尽力缩小与对方的分歧,尽力夸大自身和他人之间的一致。
6.同情准则:尽力缩小对对方的厌烦,尽力扩大对对方的同情和好感。
二、礼貌原则在英语教学课堂中的运用实践证明,教师的批评或是赞扬会影响到学生的成绩。
事实上,教师的表扬所起的强化作用是受许多因素制约的。
鉴于高中学生处于特殊的心理活动期,教师适时的表扬或是肯定,关爱、尊重、理解每一位学生,可以满足学生的心理需求,使外因转化为学生努力学习的内因,从而激发学生潜在的学习主动性。

浅谈交往礼貌用语在英语教育中的潜移默化

这些语言材料的学习,为课堂的礼貌交往教育提供了丰富的素材。

英语礼貌用语的特点

一多年前,在我国国际航班的广播中听到这样的句子:PASSENGERS MUST PAY ATTENTION TO THE FOLLOWING REGULATIONS, 宣布上机后乘客必须遵守飞行时的某些规定,口气十分生硬。
如改为:PASSENGERS ARE KINDLY REQUESTED TO OBSERVE THE FOLLOWING REGULATIONS, 口气就客气和礼貌得多,很容易为外国旅客理解和接受。
要宣布事情,不要直截了当地说ATTENTION EVERYBODY, 如果表达为:MAY I HAVE YOUR ATTENTTION,LADIES AND GENTLEMEN?就非常得体。
我国译员和服务行业都存在类似的问题。
笔者乘坐外国飞机时,发现礼貌用语随处可闻可见。

一、重视高中生英语课堂上的面子需求及情感变化高中英语教师应当重视高中生在英语课堂中的情感变化情况,顾忌高中生在英语课堂中的面子需求问题。
高中阶段是学生们所处的一段极为重要且特殊的时期,一方面他们具备了一定的抽象思维以及独立思考判断能力,逐步由青少年向成年转化;另一方面他们初步具备了人生观以及价值观,大大提高了对周围的一切人和事物的质疑度以及敏感度,自尊心较强,情绪起伏较大,并且已经具有了一定的自己的主观判断。
所以,在这一较为重要且特殊的时期,学生们对自己周边的一切人和事物变得尤为敏感,尤其是他人对自己的看法,重视态度、说话的语气以及对自己的评价反馈等等。
因此,高中这一特殊阶段对于学生的教育教学工作就变得尤为重要。
教师除了要重视学生的学习成绩之外,还要密切关注学生的情感变化,尤其是学生在英语课堂上的面子需求问题。
我们都知道,课堂是师生交流的重要场所,而这就要求了课堂上教师话语的得体性以及适切性等。
而英语课堂在普遍以汉语为母语的中国高中生心中属于一个特殊的存在,二语习得问题在我国高中英语课堂中仍是一个值得关注的重点问题。

因此教师在英语教学中有必要使学生了解英汉礼貌用语的差异,以培养学生的跨文化意识,提高他们的跨文化交际能力。

礼貌用语是人们日常语言交际过程中的重要手段,不同的文化背景下有着不同的礼貌用语。
恰当使用礼貌用语,对调和及融洽人际关系起到了意想不到的作用。
随着对外交流的不断加强,跨文化交际也日益频繁,了解中西方礼貌用语的差异,无疑可以避免跨文化交际的失败。
2英汉礼貌用语的差异表现在不同场合,不同社会背景和文化的人会话时所采用的表达方式不尽相同,礼貌用语也有天壤之别。
下面主要从称呼语、称赞语、致谢、禁忌语与委婉语等方面来谈谈英汉礼貌用语的差异。
2.1称呼语不同的称呼语体现了不同的民族文化,反映了不同的文化取向、社会格局、人际关系等。
中国素以“礼仪之邦”甲天下,一直遵循“上下有礼,长幼有序”称呼原则,称呼繁杂;而西方崇尚民主自由,称呼简单明了。
中国文化主张尊老讲辈分,各种称呼五花八门。
上辈直系亲属的称呼就有“舅舅”、“伯父”、“叔父”、“姨父”、“姑父”、“舅妈”、“姨妈”、“姑妈”等。
同辈中则有“堂哥”、“堂弟”、“堂姐”、“堂妹”、“表哥”、“表弟”、“表姐”、“表妹”。
在英语国家中,由于不同的价值观念,亲属的称谓比较笼统且简单,上一辈中只有“uncle”、“aunt”,在同辈中也只有一个“cou sin”。
晚辈和长辈之间、同辈之间都可以直呼对方的名字,甚至对父母也可直呼其名。
而在中国传统教育中,孩子不能直呼父母、长辈的大名,学生不可直接叫老师的名字,下属不能直接叫上司的名字。
否则,就会被视作缺少家教、没有教养、不守规矩等。
在社会交往中,汉语称呼语可用两种表达式来概括:“姓氏+官衔或职务/先生/女士//小姐/老”和“老/小、+姓氏”,如“张局长”、“王先生”、“郑老”、“老陈”等。

浅谈高中英语课堂中的礼貌用语

提要:本文简要分析了中学英语课堂中的礼貌用语,指出英语教学中礼貌用语的作用,并提出几点看法。

“语言是表达礼貌的得要手段”在交际中人们为了顾全礼貌而自觉或不自觉运用礼貌用语,因而这种礼貌交往方式往往通过语言来实现。
教师的课堂教学用语同样需要采用礼貌用语。
然而,这一点往往会被忽略,青少年的心理即敏感又脆弱,如果得不到应有的尊重,会导致师生之间产生种种矛循。
而恰当地运用礼貌用语则能够使师生之间尽量避免、缓解和消除这些矛值。
所以老师不但要教育学生要有礼貌,教师自己也要以身作则,在课堂上尽量的感化学生。
一、正面礼貌用语和负面礼貌用语。
人们在交际中要考虑的面子有正负两个方面。
所谓正面面子(positive face)指希望得到别人的肯定和赞许。
所谓负面面子(negative face )指有自主的自由,不用迁就别人或受到干预或妨碍而使自己感到丢面子。
为了保证对方的正面面子不受威胁,说话人应该使用正面的礼貌用语,尊重听话人,使其面子得到保留。
二、正面礼貌用语的应用
在中学英语课堂上,礼貌用语大致可以有以下几种:
1、表示认同(包括教师对学生的观点、看法或兴趣等方面的赞同等)
处于青少年阶段的学生渴望得到别人的肯定与尊重。
教师应当地运用这一礼貌用语,及时地对正确回答问题、出色完成学生任务的学
生进行表扬。
例如:Well done! Very good! Good job! Excellent!等看似简单的语言和句子,却能给学生以信心和动力。
相反,要尽量避免苛刻地责备学生。
教师当着全班同学的面说一些责备的话,而且用不耐烦的语气指责学生是不礼貌的。
换一个角度说,把没掌握好所学知识的责任完全推到学生身上,也是不公平的。
在这种情况下,教师可以尝试另一种说话,“Well perhaps its my fault; I did not emphasize that in the precious class”这样,既显示了教师的宽容,也使学生的正面面子得以保留,有效地保护了学生的学习积极性。
此外,在课堂上,教师应避免使用太多的“NO”过多的正面否定容易打击学生的自信心和挫伤其积极性。
2、表明教师与学生的合作态度
学生在学习过程中难免会遇到一些疑难问题,而这些问题很可能是由于教师未能解释清楚造成的。
此时应表示出合作态度。
而不能为了维护教师的诚信而说出类似的话“No matter what you say I am right here .just remember this .”这样,很容易造成学生的正面冲突。
况且,如果该学生从其他途径得到正确而满意的答复后,这位教师将会威信扫地,失去学生的信任,甚至有可能到起学生的厌学情绪,这必然会给教学造成不到的负面影响,例如,在讲解题时,学生往往会提出各种不同的译法,此时,教师应耐心地解释为什么此译法比彼译法好,而不是简单而粗暴地加以否定。
3、尽量使学生的正当需求获得满足
一名优秀的教师应当能够了解学生的愿望,并对满足他们的愿望充满信心。
在讲解某一语言点后,教师应该允许学生提出疑问,使其好奇心获得满足;同时,也能为他们以后的学习扫清障碍,通常,一次得不到满意解答的学生,或提向遭到拒绝的学生,使学习兴致不高,容易自暴自弃,教师应尽量耐心、详细地给学生解答疑难。
4、密切教师与学生之间的关系
课堂上师生关系的融洽是教学成功的重要因素。
因此,教师应想方设法密切与学生之间的关系。
例如,讲解语法时,教师可以说:“We
can way…” “We don’t say that way.”组织课堂活动时,教师可以说:“Let’s play a game together.”而不应用命令式的句子,如“Now you play a game.”或“Now, you do the exercises. ”人称代词we, us的使用,无形中缩短了师生之间的距离。
而命令式的句子则容易让学生觉得该教师冷漠,不够友好和不够礼貌。
5、以乐观的态度去感染学生
教师这一特殊的职业角色对学生的学习态度有着不可估量的影响。
在外语学习中,让学生时常保持乐观向上的心态是非常重要的,而学生的心态,尤其是课堂上学生的喜学或厌学情绪,在很大程度上受到教师的影响。
因此,教师应懂得如何控制自己的情绪,并可以通过语言来影响学生。
例如,学生犯了语言错误后,教师说:“Never mind, next time you will make it .”等。
三、负面礼貌用语的应用
1、给学生以选择的自由。
Do you like to make up a dialogue?
2、向学生道歉。
I’m very sorry.
3、向学生致谢。
Thank you.
4、设身处地为对方,避免听话人产生尴尬,维护其负面面子受伤害。
Understand?/Is it clear?/shall I say it again?
5、尽量减轻对学生负面面子的损害。
Could you have a try?
四、结束语
英语教学的目的是培养学生的英语交际能力,课堂教学本身就是一种师生之间的交际活动。
礼貌用语的运用是一门技能,也是一门艺术。
适当而巧妙地运用礼貌用语能活跃课堂气氛,融洽师生关系,提高学生学习外语的积极性。
英语教师应给予礼貌用语足够的重视,主动加强这方面的学习,有意识用这些知识指导教学活动.。
