• Our textbook is arranged in chronological order, but we deal with each period analytically with emphasis on theme.
Goals of The Course
• Appreciate literary works as well as the beauty of human mind • Learn essential knowledge about literature terms, literature schools, etc. • know how to read novels, poems, plays and essays actively and critically • Learn to make comments on literary works • ….
1. What is Literature?
• Literature refers to the practice and profession of writing. It comes from human interest in telling a story, in arranging words in artistic forms, in describing in words some aspects of human experienHale Waihona Puke Baidues. • Literature shows us not only what a society is like in a certain age, but also what people feel about it, what they hope from it, and how they can change it or escape from it.
About group work:
• 1. 内容主要是相关作家介绍,可以从作家的时 代背景,生活经历,主要作品,轶闻趣事等方 面展开 , 也可围绕一中心主题展开,为学期论 文或毕业论文积累素材。
• 2. 形式可多样化,可以是PPt, 自编自导的话剧、 对话等。 • 3. 鼓励从不同角度,用不同的感受诠释相关作 家,进行英中作家作品比较 , 鼓励寻找相关影 片,资源共享。
